The first time I saw "Home Alone" in the early 1990s I got the impression that it took place in South Bend, Indiana. Last night I caught the end of it and the mother, in France, was about to board a plane to Chicago.
Since "The Windy City" is more populous than Notre Dame's home, I started to believe that "HA" took place there, or at least in the vicinity, instead. (Then again, the mother could have boarded a plane to Chicago and then caught another one to South Bend.)
Trivia: The mansion where the family lived was at 671 Lincoln Way (there's a Lincoln Way in South Bend in real life, as well as south of Chicago following the corridor of US 30). It could be Lincoln Drive or Lincoln Avenue--I forget the exact extension. But I CAN tell you the street is named for "Honest Abe"! :D
So did "Home Alone" take place in Chicago or South Bend?
