View Full Version : I Don't Feel Like Celebrating The Holidays
Rebel Queen 1980 12-17-2004, 02:03 AM I don't feel much like celebrating the holidays this year. My
dad is sick with pneumonia right now,He's at home,It's
not that bad to where he has to go to the hospital, but
after my aunt was in and now my cousin which I've haven't
any news on yet. It's really hard on me.I wish I could make
things better.I worry about things too easily.I get scared
easily too.I hate when bad things happen because I can't
think right and everybody in my family just laughs or looks
at me weird when I complain. So if anyone want to send me
anything,It could just a hug or something.I don't want any
presents this year. I just my family to healthy and happy.
I would like that the most. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
to all of you who never have problems in your life like I do.:( :crying:
snl75 12-17-2004, 02:12 AM im sorry things arent going well for you right now jo cool and you and your family will be in my prayers
crystals 12-17-2004, 04:09 AM I'm sorry your dad isn't well. These kinds of things really makes people see what Christmas is all about. Being with family and friends. I hope your dad gets better. I understand how you feel. My dog passed on in December 2002 and that year I didn't feel like celebrating Christmas, but I was forced to because my parents wanted to go ahead with Christmas plans. I was really upset and wanted to say to them, Where's your soul? It's really sad when loved ones get sick. I hope your dad gets better soon.

I'm in the same boat as you are; I don't feel like celebrating either because my mom has cancer and at this point we don't know if it's really severe or not. She's going to see the doctor on tuesday and I get the feeling that it will be pretty bad news.
:(
Janice 12-18-2004, 12:59 PM It's hard to get into the holiday spirit when you're burdened with heartache. Just do your best. There's no law that says you have to be all happy happy simply because of the holidays. Allow yourself a pass this year.
Since losing my family, my holidays have never been and never will be the same, but I have to go through the motions. My husband has adult children and grandchildren, so I make it festive for everyone.
If not for that, I wouldn't even bother.
Brian Damage 12-18-2004, 05:07 PM Holidays can be very depressing, you as is everyone is entitled to feel depressed. Especially during this time of year.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-18-2004, 05:14 PM I'm sorry :( I hope things get better :bighug:
Janet McFarland 12-18-2004, 05:26 PM I'm sorry about your dad. Hang in there :bighug:
MissZero 12-18-2004, 06:20 PM Just hang in there....like they say, everything is good in the end so if its not good then its not the end. ::hugs::
TheGreatPretender 12-18-2004, 06:31 PM I'm so sorry
Rebel Queen 1980 12-18-2004, 10:12 PM Yeah,I hope so too.:(
''Sometimes I don't understand.
Feels like I living in a world gone mad.
Look around,All round it's just the same people.
Just rush everywhere, No time to ever take the time to care.
We're the ones. We're the loser in this game.
So where is the tenderness we sacrifice for a progress.
And where is the love we need. You know it makes me wonder.
What If Everybody reached and took one hand.
What If Everybody sang out with one voice maybe we could
change things. What Everybody cared cared with their own heart.
What If Everybody tried to light one spark.
Maybe we could changes things somehow.
Somehow it's all up to us.
Gotta take this world, make a world of love.
We gotta do it now, we gotta find make the change
somehow. There's gotta be a way for us to make it better.
( Chorus)
Here in our heart oh the answer is there
If we only would look there inside them.
We can make it better,We can it better if we tried together.''
( Chorus)
There's gotta be a way for us to make it better.
There's gotta be a way for us to make it better.
What If Everybody cared with their own heart.
What If Everybody just tried little one spark.
Maybe we could change things .

Dude111 10-25-2022, 07:04 AM I havent felt like celebrating holidays in years...... Just nothing to celebrate!
Christmas used to be beautiful but now its ugly and bland...... (Ugly lights,decorations,music,etc...)
I havent celebrated christmas in several years.... I get stuff AS I FIND IT
GentlemanJim 10-25-2022, 11:01 AM I don't think it's the "holidays" that have changed. I think we are just losing our innocence. When I look back at those times where most offices (as well as class rooms) had Christmas trees, and the business owners would get a little "silly" with holiday spirit.....the one memory that stands out is most people were smiling. Now there are so many taboos that must never be violated unless you want to be on the receiving end of a class action law suit.......that I often wonder who the real winners are?
That said, I am so ready for Halloween to be over so that TV schedules won't be so dominated by horror flicks I've already seen dozens of times.
MISST3 10-25-2022, 11:11 AM 61 Days until Christmas. Unbelievable!
GentlemanJim 10-25-2022, 11:34 AM The REAL tragedy in this world is there are too many people who see themselves as entitled to decide what everyone else is allowed to think

Bonnie: something tells me you are pretty young or not.. When my daughter was 18 and that was 41 yrs ago, I was so fed up with it all, that I booked us a vacation to Hawaii and had a wonderful relaxing holiday in the sun and so relaxed. That was the beginning of the end of all the noise for both of us, she has been going with her adult children to exotic places for christmas. Just got tired of throwing out dried up trees and all the big deals of the season...

Yong Fang 10-31-2022, 11:33 AM I have lived in China for the past twenty years. I am married to a Chinese citizen who has absolutely no interest in Christmas and has more or less told me so. Not part of her culture. One nice thing with that is that I do not have to buy her anything or make the effort.
Actually in China, they do sell small fake Christmas trees and there are secular Christmas displays in the provincial capital (Hangzhou). The four star hotels even have buffet and special meals for Christmas, but they are expensive, usually over $100 USD (over 700 Chinese RMB). Someone did give my wife tickets to a five star buffet dinner when we were first married and the food was fantastic, most of all of "Christmas food" ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, real bread, I forget but it was nice to eat real Western food (there are “Western Restaurants” here but most are not good).
Most years in the past especially when I lived in another, larger city (the provincial capital) I would usually go to a bar on Christmas Eve or Day, drink and socialize with the foreigners and locals there. One bar I used to go to for many years was a small cozy establishment and the boss always had a big Christmas tree and decorated, plus he had a wood stove fire which made things cozy. One time around Christmas, there was a big snowfall (which is somewhat rare) but made it to the bar but the electricity was out. But there were a lot of the foreigner gang in there and we had candles and kept the place open and had a great time drinking most of the night with the wood stove (and without the LOUD MUSIC). Another year for Christmas in that same bar, foreigners brought in food to cook and bbq and charged a bit of money to cover the costs.
Some years I would go to a friend's house for a house party. But a few times. Same thing, drinking wine and beer, maybe cook something.
Now because of the fake virus, almost everyone has left and I am in my wife's town, alone except for her and wont do anything for the holidays. I used to not care if Chistmas was a bummer because Chinese New Years was the next month and the first 18 years I was there, the first night was this HUGE fireworks night where everyone was literally shooting off fireworks, and I mean, huge, LOUD, butterfly like stuff. Lasted all night. Now for the past five years (before the fake virus) the government took this away citing "air pollution". But then I and my wife would usually go to her home village for a nice dinner and see the family, so this is a nice substitute for being alone for Christmas.
The "holiday" I miss is Halloween. I love Halloween. I used to live in South Korea near Seoul and was at the district where the mass deaths from the Halloween party occured. I would have been there.
