Let's America's oldest teenager has a quick and healthy recovery. Agreed. From his quote, you get the sense that it was a mild stroke, so that's a good thing. My mother suffered one just over a decade ago but thankfully, she's doing just about as well as if she never had a stroke. Mr. Television 12-08-2004, 05:16 PM I really hope he makes a full recovery. New Years just wouldn't be the same without him. snl75 12-08-2004, 05:33 PM i too grew up with dick clark .hope he gets well soon Kay Scarpetta 12-08-2004, 05:48 PM oh no... TheGreatPretender 12-08-2004, 06:08 PM That's horrible. :crying: I hope he is ok. 80s_Fan 12-08-2004, 11:36 PM Dick Clark hospitalized for stroke Wednesday, December 8, 2004 Posted: 3:06 PM EST (2006 GMT) LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Longtime "American Bandstand" host and pop music producer Dick Clark has been hospitalized in the Los Angeles area after suffering a stroke, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday. "He did have a minor stroke and he's in the hospital for that reason but he'll be fine," spokeswoman Amy Streibel told Reuters. The 75-year-old Clark, who helped make rock music palatable to mainstream America with his clean cut nationally televised "Bandstand" has been one of the country's best-known television hosts since the show's debut in the 1950s. "American Bandstand" helped promote the careers of Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker. isiahthomas 12-09-2004, 03:14 PM Anybody know where i can find the early 80's theme song to American Bandstand? I used to love that show when i was a kid. Sorry to hear about him having a stroke. I hope he gets better. His New Year's Rockin Eve program every year wouldn't be the same without him. isiahthomas 12-09-2004, 04:14 PM I just read on Yahoo.com his New Year's Rockin Eve show might be put on hold cause ABC network doesn't know whether Dick is gonna be able to host. They might get Jimmy Kimmel for his replacement i read. barwars 12-09-2004, 04:48 PM The New Year itself should be put on hold until Dick Clark can host. He graduated from SU, which is about 10 minutes away from my house. And most likely where I'll be going to college. spunkygirl 12-09-2004, 05:07 PM I wish Dick a speedy recovery, I will keep him in my prayers. Yeah the New Years isn't the same without him, the one year he didn't host New Years Rockin' Eve the ball dropped like 2 seconds too late dandelion wine 12-09-2004, 05:20 PM May he have a full and speedy recovery. :( Stormtracker TF 12-09-2004, 05:22 PM It just wouldnt be New Years without Dick Clark. :( I hope he recovers fully, and soon. Miss Golden 05-16-2005, 04:02 AM Has Dick Clark been seen since December??? I have read the tabloids about his grave condition. Plus on another board it stated that he is just a vegetable and will never be in the public eye again. TripperFan 05-16-2005, 09:04 AM Hard to say. I don't think he's in "grave" condition, but definitely the stroke did more damage than what was initially reported. Being a proud man like Mario Lopez mentions, it's hard to say whether we'll ever see him in front of the cameras again. Very sad! http://extratv.warnerbros.com/v2/news/0405/29/3/text.html Millions of fans are praying tonight for music legend Dick Clark, just as "Extra" learns some more troubling news -- Clark will most likely not attend the Country Music Awards, which he executive produces, and he continues to cancel all public appearances. Mario Lopez, who co-hosted "The Other Half" with Dick for two years, remains very close to the legend and is one of the few who have talked to Clark since his stroke. "He's a proud man and very strong willed," Lopez said. "He didn't want anyone to see him in the state he was in. It seemed like the same old Dick." "Extra" has learned that America's favorite teenager is walking and talking, undergoing daily therapy and even doing business from home. "He hates to miss work," Lopez said. "And he hates to not be there because he's a very hands-on guy. It's just motivating him to get back quicker." The 75-year-old music icon suffered a stroke in December and rarely leaves his Malibu home. Dr. Jorge Minor of Los Angeles' Good Samaritan Hospital is an expert on stroke recovery, who told us it may be quite some time until we see Dick Clark out and about again. "His chances are actually pretty good of recovery," Minor said. "His stoke was an extensive stroke and would probably require an extensive rehabilitation program." "He's a legend and a great man," Lopez observed. "He's going to be just fine. He could get through just about anything I'd say." *Pleasant Tomorrow* 05-16-2005, 04:12 PM Hope he feels better soon :( And wow, didn't know he graduated from SU...
