All I have to say is Whoa!
Mysty Eyes 12-01-2004, 11:52 AM Y'know, I'm just not a Letterman fan. He rarely even pulls a smile from me, let alone a chuckle. This is no exception. We obviously each have a very different sense of humor.
Oh well. :(

Where have you been living the last 30 years?
Tom Brokaw is only one of the best journalists our Country has ever seen. He has anchored NBC Nightly News since the Early 1980's and tonight is his last night. You do know what NBC is don't you? :rotflmao:
CliffClavin 12-01-2004, 11:52 AM Ditto.Who is Tom Brokaw ? OMG ! She must not watch much TV or she doesn't watch the news.
ThirteenInchEscape 12-01-2004, 12:31 PM Well, I never watch NBC Nightly News, I normally only watch the 24 hour channels, but I have known who he was for a long time just from news about him, talk shows, etc, etc.
Pretty famous guy.
CliffClavin 12-01-2004, 12:38 PM 24 hour news channels ?
CliffClavin 12-01-2004, 12:39 PM I hate 24 hour news channels. If they have celeb on they are cool but other then that
Brent88 12-01-2004, 01:52 PM I love 24-hour news. :biglove:
It looks like my NBC affiliate (http://www.khq.com) won't be airing Brokaw's final broadcast. They've decided instead to air a Gonzaga basketball game, even though they can bump it to our Pax affiliate (which they own).

I'd be heading to the station with gasoline, dynomite, bombs, and matches.

Brent88 12-01-2004, 04:17 PM There was a very touching interview on Today this morning during the 7:30am half hour. At the end, all of his staff came out and they had champagne and he got choked up.

Click the Today video link for it. It's 16 minutes long.
Brian Williams held his own with Jon Stewart last night on The Daily Show. It was pretty damn funny. I encourage everyone to catch the repeat at 7 pm tonight.
Jrnygrl 12-01-2004, 05:01 PM :spit: :spit: ROTFLOL!!!!!
I got to meet Tom Brokaw when I was a production assistant with NBC. He is a very nice man.
Looks like they'll be airing it after all. It will be on at 4:30 in my area.
Brent88 12-01-2004, 08:02 PM It's over.
:crying:
Have fun in retirement Tom. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/icons/icon9.gif
Kay Scarpetta 12-01-2004, 08:05 PM Oh I almost choked up 5 minutes ago... especially when the lights dimmed. So sad. Brian Williams is definitely good, but I love my Tom. I watched him every single night without fail :crying:
Cheer up. Those of you on the East Coast can catch the Jon Stewart/Brian Williams hilarity on The Daily Show right now.
musicradio77 12-01-2004, 11:10 PM I saw it earlier tonight on his final Nightly News. I was so sad to see him go.:( I PMed Brent88 and RurryJoeMicelli so that I would not post anymore political stuff according to TJ's rules. Go luck, Tom. We wish you the best.:crying:

I feel the same way about Jay Leno. But my mom agrees with you.
CliffClavin 12-02-2004, 10:32 AM Conan, Ellen ,& Jimmy are the best.
Dean Winchester 12-02-2004, 11:59 AM why is it that everyone is "I am so going to miss Brokaw, he was such a great journalist" yet a week or two ago, everyone completely threw out Dan Rather's entire 40 year career because one scandal that he wasn't even directly involved in suddenly "negated" everything else he's done? BOTH are legends in their field, why bash one and kiss up to the other when they've both been at their game for a very long time, regardless if you like Rather's politics or not.
