View Full Version : Funniest Moments
ChambersVsMalone 11-30-2004, 01:39 AM We often list our favorite episodes, but what about funniest moments? A lot of my favorite moments come from episodes I don't list as favorites all the time. I can think of many secens where I was laughing so hard I was close to crying lol. So, what were the moments that made you laugh the most?
ChambersVsMalone 11-30-2004, 01:51 AM Here are a couple of mine I can think of right now:
1) In "Book of Samuel" when Sam tells Diane, Woody and Carla that he's going out of town and one of them has to be in charge of the bar. Then they all want to do it so he tries to decide who's going to get the job with all these weird games, and in the end he ends up picking Woody because "he's the only one who hasn't annoyed the HELL out of me in the past five minutes!" (or something close to that). THEN he tells Woody, "Okay, first rule, keep this [the bat] with you at all times."
2) In Executive Suite when Sam is on the phone with Martin Teal and Rebecca wants him to tell him they are together so Martin will leave her alone. He calmly says to Martin, "Hold on, there's... a fire here" so he can say something to Rebecca. The way he says it, it always cracks me up.
3) In "And God Created the Woodman" when everyone in the bar tries on the shoes that they ordered from Cliff and they squeak. Then the guy who's vase was broken at the party (who was he? I forgot) comes in not remembering who had broken it at the party and says he can't remember because he was drunk the night before. Now he seems mad about his vase when the night before he was fine with it. So Woody comes in, unaware he's now mad, and starts to admit it was him. Rebecca tries to stop him by yelling "FIRE!" then everyone at the bar starts running to the door- with their shoes squeaking.
(hmm, why do these last two both have to do with fire? lol. Kinda ironic since there later WAS a fire.)
4) In "I Will Gladly Pay You Tuesday" when Sam is starting to get worried that Diane isn't going to pay him back his $500 and is getting irritated because she's buying other frivolous things. So she buys Girl Scout cookies and offers Sam some and he takes a few and smashes them, then he takes some more and smashes them. Then he calmly goes, "I shouldn't have had that last one."
I know I have a lot more but those just came to me!
Moondance 11-30-2004, 09:53 PM I only have time to name one, for now, of course.
"Everyone Imitates Art" - Diane finds out that Sam got a poem published and she didn't! HAHA! I loved how Diane came into the bar with all these books, trying to prove that Sam forged that poem (that ciggerette alone was worth it all)
My brother pointed out that CHEERS is a smoke-free bar (well, until Rebecca came there and caught the place on fire - GEEZ!)
The scenes in Sam's office were great! Diane finds out that Sam kept all her letters!
Great episode, IMO!
slackermonkey 12-01-2004, 12:30 AM I've seen a few people smoke at Cheers, other than Rebecca burning down the bar. The girl who bought Woody at the auction springs immediately to mind.
Chambers 12-01-2004, 12:40 AM I love the cold open where Norm and Cliff try to hit on these two women who are really into them, but all Cliff can do is squawk and Norm releases this really high-pitched moan. Gets me laughing every time.

Oooh that auction! Lilith was the BEST in the episode, IMO!

I think that was the only opening that lead directly into the episode.
Most of the time they're throw away jokes that would work at virtually any point in the series.

barwars 12-01-2004, 02:52 PM and the point of that is....??
barwars 12-01-2004, 02:55 PM Funniest Moments....
The "Get Gary/Shave Sammy" scene in "Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh"
Also, in "Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh" -- the greatest Normism of all time --
Sam: Whatya up to Norm?
Norm: My ideal weight if I were 11 feet tall
"Thanksgiving Orphans" from start to finish.
And, although it's not the funniest, it's my favorite scene of the entire series.
Two words --
Screaming
Viking.

Does there really have to be a point? Geez.
Anyways, another funny moment was when Carla took ahold of Diane's face and dragged her into Sam's office!

Agreed, I love that one! It belongs in my top five. Well, if I HAD a top five list, lol, it would be there. ;)
Bobby F. 12-02-2004, 07:24 PM I can't think of the episode but it is where Diane can't believe that women fall for Sams pick-up lines. At the end Sam starts a line on Diane about the color of her eyes and she's falling for it bigtime! He then says "Wouldn't work huh??" And Diane is lost for a moment and then says it would never work on an intellegent woman. As shes walking away she takes a drink that shes bringing a customer and slams it down. Sam just stands there with a grin on his face.
ChambersVsMalone 12-03-2004, 03:33 AM Oh yeah, "Sam's Women," I think it was? It was one of the first episodes. I love that part when she downs that customer's drink lol.
ChambersVsMalone 12-03-2004, 03:37 AM I just thought of something, but I can't remember how it went exactly lol. (Yeah, I'm a good storyteller lmao.)
Ah, I can't even remember the episode, I'm thinking late 4th season though, when Cliff and Norm and Frasier end up in a debate about the roadrunner and Wylie Coyote. So then later when Frasier is in Sam's office and leaves and opens the door then we hear them arguing about the coyote and the roadrunner still. Then a moment later Diane walks in to his office and when the door opens we hear Cliff saying something like, "Oh, so I suppose the Coyote is the anti-christ?!"Well, if I could tell the story it would make more sense lol, but it was hilarious how it was just a subtle joke when Diane entered and Frasier exited Sam's office. Typical of Norm and Cliff, the pointless debate goes on all night.
Norm's Stool 08-23-2005, 03:06 PM Here are just a few of my favorites:
-"That Lucas fellow" in Cliffie's Big Score. Everything about him is just HILARIOUS, including those horrendous shoes he wore with his tuxedo
-Diane's messy hair after riding Andy Andy's motorcycle in Diane's Perfect Date.
-The whole Cheers: The Motion Picture episode
-The squeaky shoes in And God created the Woodman
-The off-camera jokes in the scenes set in Sam's office ("Everyone in line for the Ugliest Tongue Contest!", the Coyote-Roadrunner discussion, the "goodbye, Diane!" running gag in Showdown (2)...)
MaydayMalonesGirl 08-23-2005, 03:49 PM The scene in The Cape Cad where Sam hires an old couple to go in the bathroom and make noises to make Diane think that his date is still there. Oh my god, that was hilarious.
[Old woman begins randomly laughing hysterically in the bathroom]
Diane - She sure is busy.
[Old man comes out]
Old man - Is that enough, or should we snap some towels?
Sam - Uh, that's the bathroom inspector. It's new.
Diane - Sam, let's call an end to this nonsense right now. Now I don't care how rough you were on her; that is not Vicky.

I still agree with what I thought 8 months ago. "Screaming Viking" is, in my opinion, the greatest scene of the entire series. Although Sam & Diane's arguement at the end of "Showdown Part II" will always be the most famous scene, Cheers was never better than the "Screaming Viking" moment in "Home Is The Sailor."
Brittney075 08-23-2005, 08:32 PM I thought one of the funniest moments ever was on the specail features on the second season, where Cliff and Norm are telling those girls off or w/e, and they end up holding hands and walking back to the bar ... that was effin hilarious! I cried so hard ... and um .. the first episode of Cheers, where Diane starts laughing because Sam offers her a job ... that was pretty funny too .. and ... let' see, lol ... um .. that's all I can think about right now, but I KNOW theres A LOT more....
McFly121 08-23-2005, 09:34 PM Yeah gosh, 11 years of great moments, trying to think of some of the best....
"Well, they'd probly eat the maid first, cuz she aint kin."
"Check out the warheads on that cellist."
"Thank you Obi Won Konobi!"
"This is not a drill!"
"Do you want your job back?"
"I reeeeeally doooo!!!"
"You're gonna lose that lovin' feelin' from the neck down!"
"I hear this high pitch scream, 'Hey, he's the only one naked!'"
"Sorry, Woody, it caught me by surprise."
"You're a magnificent pagan beast."
"Thanks, what's the message?"
"Time to rap about a controversy, gonna take a stand, gonna show no mercy. A lot of folks think jocks shoudn't be, doin' the sports news on tv. I don't wanna read the big league scores, like a bunch of old broadcast schoolboys, so get your scores from a guy like me who knows what it's like to have a groiiiiin injurty. G-g-g-groin, g-g-groin injury." (As Woody rocks to the beat).
The We Will Rock You opening.
Sam gagged with a donut and tied up with jumprope.
Frasier's facial reaction to seeing a non-Red Sox pick for the World Series as one is wheeled out tied and hanging from a metal rod.
"Why don't you upchuck and die."
"Oh mommy!!! Mommy why you???????"
Sam throws a naked Rebecca an apple.
"Noooooo! Throw me something to wear!"
"Light the match!"
Frederick's first word.
Well, this could go on all night.
pinksparkles18 08-24-2005, 02:57 AM I have quite a few, but only one comes to mind right now....
The Book of Samuel- when they're trying to choose who will be in charge and the first game doesn't work so Sam tells them he has another one "My dog dog died last night what color was his blood?" I laughed so hard at that lol :)
Norm's Stool 08-24-2005, 03:20 PM I have quite a few, but only one comes to mind right now....
The Book of Samuel- when they're trying to choose who will be in charge and the first game doesn't work so Sam tells them he has another one "My dog dog died last night what color was his blood?" I laughed so hard at that lol :)
I love the look on Sam's face when he asks for a color to spell and Diane goes "ok... mauve" :rotflmao:
Sharop 08-24-2005, 05:50 PM I really liked the part in "And God Created Woodman", where Woody hit it off with Rebecca's boss Evan Drake (and then he came back to the bar, having remembered nothing of the night before, and Woody accidentally annoyed him) but I digress. I really liked the scenes where Norm, Frasier and the others were trying on the shoes that Cliff had brought in, and they were all squeaking. And then later on, when Evan Drake is there, to distract him, Rebecca yells, "Fire!" Everyone starts to run to the exit. Her boss says there's no fire, so Rebecca changes it to, "Flyer!" Then the boss demands to know what's going on and what the squeaking is, and Sam says, "Uh...it's the Squeaky Shoes Club."
I think I've remembered that correctly...
MaydayMalonesGirl 08-24-2005, 06:22 PM I have quite a few, but only one comes to mind right now....
The Book of Samuel- when they're trying to choose who will be in charge and the first game doesn't work so Sam tells them he has another one "My dog dog died last night what color was his blood?" I laughed so hard at that lol :)
That scene is the perfect example of why I love the fifth season.
nigelmiguel 10-25-2005, 09:26 AM forme was woody and sam when they go to a house in the mountain snowing.
that weekend with sam always go to that hotel with the same woman who only see sam once at year.
sam has a problem in his back and woody leave him there.
in the car woody is reading all the ads
chipsaugratin 07-07-2006, 04:55 PM Near the end of "Showdown, Part 2" the season 1 finale, as Sam and Diane argue in his office, Sam opens the door.... and there must be 20 people jammed into the doorway, eavesdropping. The biggest laugh, the funniest moment, hands down!
tiff7 07-13-2006, 11:11 PM All of what y'all said! Long time no see! I just watched the 1st disc of season 2, ah-Sam & Diane. She's the pretty one, he's muy caliente! (very hot!) :)

sitcomblog 08-30-2006, 08:20 PM For me it has to be when Cliff was on the Johnny Carson show.
sitcomblog 08-30-2006, 08:20 PM I also love the Norm had the job with the brewery.
sitcomblog 08-30-2006, 08:20 PM Another moment is when Norm had to fire the whole company.
sitcomblog 08-30-2006, 08:21 PM How about when Norm dated the dorky girl, his secretary?
danny1979 10-14-2006, 05:44 AM My all-time funniest moment EVER on Cheers is Rebecca fainting in front of Evan in " Backseat Becky, Up Front "
Also - the entire scene between Rebecca and the doctor in Sam's office in The Visiting Lecher
Rebeca's reaction to the identity of Martin Teal being revealed in Executive Sweet
Rebecca's " I am too stupid to LIVE ! " in Cry Hard
You can probably tell I like Rebecca
chipsaugratin 10-31-2006, 04:56 PM Or, how about in "Knights of the Scimitar" from Season 5, after Sam gives Diane the big one (kiss) in front of Lance Appollonaire, then Diane tries to breathlessly deliver the line, "Yes I see how that might give you pause." Even 20 years later, just thinking about that scene cracks me up.
Scoobiedoo30 11-01-2006, 03:25 PM I pick when Norm has to Fire The Whole Company
BensonFan 11-01-2006, 05:35 PM My all-time funniest moment EVER on Cheers is Rebecca fainting in front of Evan in " Backseat Becky, Up Front "
Also - the entire scene between Rebecca and the doctor in Sam's office in The Visiting Lecher
Rebeca's reaction to the identity of Martin Teal being revealed in Executive Sweet
Rebecca's " I am too stupid to LIVE ! " in Cry Hard

Hell yeah....she's hilarious!! One of my favorites involving her is the time she goes to bartend at Mr Gates' house and she thinks he asked her over to be his date. When she finds out the truth she starts drinking, gets totally bombed and then keeps interrupting the opera singer in the living room. That one had me rolling.
bbath 01-14-2007, 01:14 AM There are three moments that really make me laugh. The entire episode of "Cliffie's Big Score" with Cliff, Diane,Carla and Lucas is the first. The line in Thanksgiving Orphans when Diane yells "STOP THIS IMMEDIATLEY!!" is second. And "Cry Harder" when the bar is celebrating Sam getting Cheers back and they are yelling "SAMMY GOT THE BAR BACK", then Rebecca comes in and finds out he turned in Robin Colcord and they start chanting "SAMMY IS A DEAD MAN".
bbath 01-14-2007, 08:24 PM There is also the line in "Adventures in Housesitting" when Rebecca says "Sheridan's in the kitchen with Satan" and Sam says "this is no time for folk singing". I nearly pee my pants every time!!
The one where Sam and Diane are supposed to fix each other up with the
perfect date. She puts alot of thought into her choice and Sam picks out
a stranger in the bar at the last minute. It is so funny.
