I also like the version Paul McCartney sang on his Back in the U.S. Live 2002 album. I like a lot of Tiffany's music, but when it comes to between Tiffany and the Beatles, the Beatles are better when it comes to that "I Saw Her Standing There" song. I'm sorry, but this is just unfathomable to me. It's common knowledge that Tiffany is schlock, and her disposability has only been trumped by Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and their ilk. Bottom line, her talent is really quite minimal. The Beatles' relevance, on the other hand, has endured for more than forty years and shows no sign of weakening. This isn't an opinion; it's a fact. I can prove it using an Etch-A-Sketch and a piece of scratch paper. And how could any self-respecting music fan not care for this (http://home.comcast.net/~aka909walrus/I_Saw_Her_Standing_There.mp3)? The release of this album in 1987 is equal to events like the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, The Italian Renaissance and the birth of Jesus. To truly appreciate Tiffany's work, one must be in a frame of mind that what they are about to listen to the greatest composing the world has ever heard, equally matched with vocal harmonies that until now only God Himself must have heard from his choir of angels. A breakdown.... 1. Should've Been Me - The heartache and jealousy that leaves the listener convinced that Her heart must be broken. The pain and wrenching feelings of hopelessness will consume you. 2. Danny - Yes Danny, oh Danny. How your name has burned itself into our conscious as Her Lady Tiffany made you an immortal part of musical history. 3. Spanish Eyes - Her song instills in us the strengh to fight evil and seek the truth against any hardship. This song gave me the courage not only to graduate from Marine Corps bootcamp, but to volunteer to go through it again as soon as I graduated. This song will turn any weekling into a warrior with the heart of a lion. 4. Feelings of Forever - The song I cannot listen to without falling to my knees in tears. Her Lady Tiffany describes my exact feelings I experienced the day my ant farm was wiped out by an accidental blast of Windex I used to clean the glass. I also think of clouds when I hear this. 5. Kid on a Corner - Dedicated to the homies sufferin' in OakTown. Miss Tiffany crosses the lines of black and white and becomes a champion for one race, the human race. Her fight for civil rights will guarantee her her own holiday just like Martin Luther King Jr. 6. I Saw Him Standing There - Another bitter sweet love ballad that would melt even the iciest of hearts. Play this song in any divorce court and the couple would reconcile before the second chorus. 7. Johnny's Got the Inside Moves - Her Majesty Tiffany defies convention and stretches her vocal abilites to the max leaving far behind any contender. Her sense of groove slinks from the speakers like an entertainment veteran. Considering her young age, this song is truly a miracle it could be pulled off by someone so young. But then again, the young dream. 8. Promises Made - Promises made are indeed promises broken. The Great Goddess Tiffany shows her views on politics, and how could we disagree? Indeed World Peace would be more than a dream if Tiffany was in charge. If only everyone listened. 9. I Think We're Alone Now - This was it. THE song that changed popular music forever. This single hit eclipsed everything The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and The Rolling Stones ever did. Without a doubt the single best song mankind ever had the priviledge to listen to. The Eternal Tiffany became the Queen of Music as soon as this track was cut. No better song has ever been better performed, written, or produced. It's qualities can only give us mortals a hint of what heaven must be. 10. Could've Been - My God Tiffany, how can you sing such a song without breaking into tears yourself? This song made the world cry and yearn for a lost love. I cannot listen to this song without breaking down myself and thinking what 'could've been.' It was a love so beautiful, it was a love so right. My flowers have been long dead, but I still carry them with me always. Maybe one day she'll return, but until then I have the love of Tiffany's music to give me reason to live. Without this album in the world, mankind would not have survived Y2k. Has a Beatles album received such praise? |
