I got your joke about "I don't know why I do that", but I'm pretty sure it's "Vomiting stories aren't funny" because Joey & Ross are talking about not telling Rachel that she messed up the trifle. Joey says something like "You mean eat the trifle anyway?" and Ross says "Yeah, it'll be a funny Thanksgiving story" and that's when Joey says, "Vomiting stories aren't funny".
