I think holiday episodes are pushed more by the networks now than they were years ago. There are a lot of older shows that had no holiday episodes at all, but today it is the very rare show that is like that. Since Thanksgiving is in November during sweeps many shows use this kind of episode to have a major event such as a big name star showing up for Thanksgiving dinner as the relative of a regular player or some major plot turn like Roseanne's mother announcing that she was a lesbian at Thanksgiving dinner in that show's last season. Aside from the birth of Jessica during the Feb 1980 sweeps I don't recall the Jeffersons ever doing anything special for either the February or November sweeps periods. What would it have been about? Them getting together and George starting a fight with the Willises over dinner? We got to see that sort of thing on a week to week basis anyway. The Halloween episode with the killer bunny was memorable as was the Xmas show where Lionel and Jenny marry but a Thanksgiving episode just for the sake of having one would have been unnecessary. Brian Damage 11-18-2004, 12:47 PM It would've been cool to see a Thanksgiving episode with the Jeffersons, the Willis' and Mr. Bentley. |
