That stinks big time. Hopefully they will get together to do the commentaries for at least some of the Moonlighting episodes on DVD.

I read his answer too and it sounded very abrupt to me. Not sure what's going on with him lately.

maybe stress about the elections? Bush won so maybe he will calm down now:p

Looks like sometimes he's tired of answering, but then you shouldn't open a message board with Ask Bruce right?
But it's ok I know now what I wanted to know.

I'm satisfied.

Hehehehehe

Well, I like Bruce taking time to answer, to chat, and all that... I appreciate his efforts. But... you know what? I don't like the way he answers... It looks to me like he's being ironic most of the time... I don't know... Sometimes in the chat he IS abrupt, like you said Cybr, and he's just making fun of people... (not always, but it did happen sometimes)

BW gave one of his not so nice answers again today. Someone asked him if he would like to be a judge on American Idol. His reply seemed sarcastic to me.

kismet
01-28-2005, 11:37 PM
This was in the Ask Bruce section:

paraphrased -- Bruce, would you ever consider being a judge on a show like American Idol?

His answer:

My order of priorities as far as being a judge of Anything on a TV show would run as follows:

1.) The Moonlighting Reunion show

2.) Center Square on Hollywood Squares

3.) a Judge on American Idol

4.) A dude that gets fired on The Apprentice

your pal,

bw

How would you all take his answer? Any comments?

CyBr
01-28-2005, 11:50 PM
I agree with you. Very sarcastic, as if he's much too important for anything like that. It's also a little arrogant to me, particularly since TV made him a star.

I totally agree with you, CyBr. Sometimes he makes me angry.

well, at least we now know what he watches on tv...

american idol
the apprentice
and
hollywood squares!

Well, I guess I'm a total dolt because I watch those programs sometimes.

Concerning the comments about his latest post about how he doesn't wanna be a judge or do reality shows or ML reunion....I think that what Bruce was trying to say was that he has said repeatedly he is not interested in doing TV at this point in his career.

MulberryGal

I agree with Cindy, I think he was trying to say that he didn't want to do more TV, he's happier doing film. I remember in another post he said that if he had a choice he'd do more theatre if he could because you get the interaction with real people.

I honestly didn't see his answer as being arrogant, just stating a choice, he did do ML for several years, so I can see that he wouldn't want to commit to another long running series. He does still do some TV appearances don't forget (like Friends etc). His sense of humour does seem to get him in trouble at times tho... ;)

So you don't think he was making fun of those shows listed?

MulberryGal
01-31-2005, 11:15 AM
Possibly Kismet, but I think he was joking more about the question than the shows. Who knows really, I've never even heard of most of the shows, so most of it was lost on me. :)

One things for sure, I can't imagine him on American Idol as a judge!!

I think he's always a little sarcastic about ML, maybe he IS still angry about what happened afterwards with Cyb's book and everything ..
But hey sometimes you need to SNAP OUT OF IT!
Just my opinion....

CyBr

He posted again implying that "Bruce Willis to block" would imply your career is on a downward slide. But I was very disappointed that he would lump ANYTHING Moonlighting in that category.

kismet
02-01-2005, 03:07 PM
I didn't like that comment either.

I think Whoopi would take offense -- she was Center Square for two years -- I don't consider her career over, and I hope Whoopi doesn't either.

Like I said before... that's why I don't go to his board or chat anymore... Because I don't like the way he answers to people... I do think he's a little arrogant. At least for my taste! So I decided not to chat anymore... I prefer this board or Cyb's because we all know each other and it's like being at home!!

Bruce Willis has a right to be arrogant in many senses.

He at first had to put up with Cybil Sheperd who is arrogant beyond belief, and then he had established himself as a bankable star.

I don't see Cybill doing anything bankable since then (her series, umm no).

And now after all this time it appears that Bruce is still proud of Moonlighting (and he should be) and perhaps he is getting some grief from Cybill.
No matter how you slice it, he is the show, though the chemistry was excellent on screen, she is less important than him.

Probably what pisses her off to this day.

Carina13
02-22-2005, 04:16 PM
I really can't see the point in comparing the two of them... Did I say something about Cybill? I was talking about Bruce as a person AND as far as I know of him (Bruce live in the chat) I've never spoken to Cyb so I couldn't say anything about her, not in favor, neither against her.

I'm not being a tool here, you said that Bruce appeared a little arrogant and you felt more comfortable talking at Cybill Sheperd's site.

I don't think I was out of line but I truly dont mean to offend you either way.

What Carina meant (and just jump in if I'm wrong here) is that she liked this site and Cybs site better than Bruce's site, NOT because of Bruce, but because of the number of members.

Dutchie

Oh and another thing, I like Cybill Shepherd. She is one of the funniest people I ever met in real life. She may not have done anything "bankable" for tv lately, but she lives her life as she wants it. She is doing the things she loves and she is having fun. You don't need blockbusters to be important.

Thank you, Steph! That's exactly what I mean... I like this site and Cyb's not because of Cybill, but because of the people who make it! Well, because of us! hehehe

Didn't take offense dlemond, don't worry!

Cool.

I think Cybill is awesome in Moonlighting- how could you not think so?
But I hate the fact that Bruce and her don't get along.
It takes away from the magic of the show in that sense.

Dutchie

True dlemond, I don't get why their off-screen relationship turned out to be like that. Maybe it was stress from the show. Whatever happened, I hope they will forgive eachother.

Gotta disagree with you on a point or two, dlemond.

Bruce was not THE SHOW. The show was nothing without the two of them interacting. Cybill was just as important as Bruce in Moonlighting. Case in point - at least half of season 4!!!

How do you know she is arrogant? OR How do you know that BW isn't just as arrogant or more so? Do you know them personally?

Bankability in Hollywood has lots to do with age/gender. How many actresses over 40 do you consider bankable? Not many IF any. I love Meryl Streep, but when does just her name on a movie bring in the big bucks? But there seem to be many men who are over 40 and still rake in the multimillions.

You are right that the show was nothing without the two of them interacting.

And, I'm sure Bruce is arrogant to some degree, look how much money he has brought in as a movie star. The comment about Cybill goes by reputation and the fact that it was obvious that she was jealous of up and coming star Willis.

She was the movie star and well known actor, he was nothing.
You don't think she resented this or made it pretty well known?

My point of view is that Moonlighting wouldn't have worked without Bruce or Cybill (and when either of them wasn't there, it suffered, as Kismet said about part of Season 4). No one else could have played either of their parts so well, and I think we'd ALL agree that their chemistry was special. ;)

I have no real opinion about who was/is arrogant or whatever, not knowing either of them personally, but they are both incredibly talented people. I also don't mind whether or not Bruce and Cybill are friends these days or not, people do grow apart, I'm not in touch with people I worked with 12 years ago, let alone 20 (but 20 years ago I WAS 10!!).

The important thing to me is the work they did together still stands up as some of the best TV ever. Capische?!

Thanks Mulberry for your comments. B & C are both wonderful, and they were both absolutely essential to the success, brilliance, and heart of the show. I always try to stay away from any discussions that criticizes either one... I try to remain neutral and unbiased about them out of character. Lord, knows no one is perfect, but I am uncomfortable discussing those type of issues.

Although I do have opinions about their characters and characters' behavior, to me it feels wrong to comment publicly about them personally--even if they themselves have said or done something publicly. I love both of them and I find myself wanting to defend both of them.

Another good source for out of print books is Alibris.com They have quite a few copies of this, some less pricey than others.

http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?qwork=1443863&wtit=Moonlighting%20magic&ptit=Cybill%20%26%20Bruce%20%3A%20Moonlighting%20magic&pauth=Siegel%2C%20Barbara%2C%20and%20Siegel%2C%20Scott&pisbn=&pqty=11&pqtynew=0&pbest=12%2E90&matches=11&qsort=r

Also ABE.com (American Book Exchange) has copies...some of these are in the $9.95 US dollars range.

Go to http://www.abe.com and type in Moonlighting Magic in the Title Search.

I do have to tell you guys that one of my prize possessions in my Moonlighting collection is a hard cover copy of this book. I got it from a library discard....which means there must have been hard back copies produced to put in libraries and such. It has the same cover and is about the same size...but it is a hard cover book. For those interested in these sorta things, the book's classification using the Dewey Decimal System is 791.45 SIE. Just thought I would add that useless piece of trivia.

kismet
02-26-2005, 07:40 PM
Cindy, how do you do it? Your collection must be HUGE.

Did you have to add on an addition to your home just for Moonlighting? :D

P.S. I told you that you should have contacted The Tony Danza Show about your expertise. You could be rollin' in the dough as we speak.

I think my copy was about $10 also and I've always been puzzled as to why it's so expensive now except that it may be the only book written on the show. I haven't read it in a long time, but as I rememeber, they didn't speak directly to Bruce or Cybill, and just quoted other interviews. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my copy for anything, I'm just puzzled about the prices I see out there for it now.

MulberryGal

Yep, at Amazon.co.uk they have used copies for about £35!!!

I love Moonlighting, but I aint paying that!!
