What's your least all-time fave ep and why?

That would have to be Episode #117, "The Hair Brained Scheme"; IOW, the finale. I don't hate it for being the last episode produced, but rather for the fact that Oliver says the word "s*x" (hint: it isn't an instrument or a number!), which I find rather X-rated. (This doesn't take into account the fact that Oliver was less than ten years of age at the time--what kind of precedent does that set for our children???)

My favorite is "Amateur Night". Nick at Nite
extended that episode with "The Brady Kids At The Hollywood Bowl". Anyway, the songs in that
episode were good. My fave scene is when they sung "It's A Sunshine Day". Jackie Mills is proud of them beating The Partridges on Friday Nights on ABC.

My least favorite is Bobby's Hero because they make such a big deal about Bobby's obsession for Jessie James. It's real corny given todays culture.

Another lame one was aired last night, "Peter and the Wolf". It has its funny moments, but the idea that a business contact from South America would cancel negotiations with Mike after seeing teenagers showing affection in a pizza parlor is plain silly.

YOur right about the unrealistic premise that Mike's business prospect would kill the deal after seeing Greg and Peter at the Pizza parlor. However, that wasn't the only one during the show's run. Others:

Mike and Carol not only not pressing charges against Vincent Price's character in Hawaii, but actually doing a tribute to him at the luau...

Mike going to the extreme of renting a trampoline to help Bobby get over his fear of heights...

ALL of the kids covering up for Peter after he broke the vase. I can see Greg and maybe Bobby, but the girls would never have done anything like that, especially without telling each other...

But the worst one has to be the entire charade they put on to show Alice how much they needed her. Mike actually ruined his tuxedo. That one was completely ridiculous!

Those were unrealistic episodes, but that bwas just part of the shows charm. I just didn't really love the episodes with Oliver.

Here's mine.
Grand Canyon ep where prospector Zecheriah (or Z something) is in. There were no gold rushes in Bradyland! Here's the breakdown of what's wrong with it:

A: The Brady's were prosperous; why would they stop at a ghost town. Also "soap opera time" raises this point:

B: Did they have gold rushes in the 70s? Only the Rainman (Dustin Hoffman) would have fallen for that one. I can hear him now:

"Oh oh V E R N, there's a old bearded guy with a pan of gold named Zechariah driving Mr. Brady's station wagon!" http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Very cheesy, but it gets worse:

C: The WHOLE family lets the prospector lead them into the jail. Duh, couldn't the adults have stayed outside while the kids looked inside?

D: Obvious slapstick; True Brady fans AVOID. To get out the Brady's get this:

Throw Shoes at the key on the peg! And pull the pocketbook on top of the key with socks strung together!

E: The prospector drives the Brady wheels. Can 1800's Gold Rushers drive 1970's station wagons? Not

Overall this series is decent though; just ignore the prospector or make fun of him.

LAST NIGHT I SAW WHAT HAS TO BE THE DUMBEST EPISODE; IN FACT, IT SEEMS ALL THOSE "POST-OLIVER" SHOWS ARE REALLY STUPID...

THE EPISODE WHERE PETER HAS A "DOUBLE"-SOMEONE FROM SCHOOL WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM-IS SO DUMB. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS REALLY BAD (IN THE "SPLIT-SCREEN"(?) IMAGING TECHNOLOGY, THE "TWO PETERS" ARE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT EACH OTHER-IT'S AS IF THEY ARE STARING OUT IN SPACE).

IN ADDITION, THE JUXTAPOSITION OF THE NON-PETER CHARACTER WITH THE REST OF THE BRADY FAMILY IS AWKWARD.

WHEN THE BRADY BUNCH STARTED RESORTING TO DREAM SEQUENCES, SPACECRAFT INVASIONS, DOUBLING OF CHARACTERS (ALWAYS A WEAK SITCOM PLOY), AND THE ADDITION OF REDUNDANT CAST MEMBERS (I.E., o l i v e r), WE KNOW THAT THE SHOW IS HEADED TOWARD A DOWNWARD SPIRAL...THE SHOW DIVERTS FROM ITS ORIGINAL CONCEPT...

ANY OTHERS AGREE WITH ME?????????

Hi - sorry to disagree with "Tom" post above, but the Peter look a like episode was actually quite realistic. I mean, let's face it, who among us hasn't gone around a corner in a school corridor, only to be knocked on our ass by a look-a-like named Arthur Owens, whom we've never seen before because he just moved into town? I know I have

Any of the Oliver episodes qualifies, of course (the FBI episode is particularly awful). The episode where Alice is about to get scammed by her ex-boyfriend, Mark Millard, is really boring. So is the one where Carol writes the article for the magazine about her family.

You missed one really unrealistic part of the Brady Bunch! It's so ridiculous that they actually wrote this in the script! In the last episode, "The Hair-Brained Scheme," remember how Greg (the first one of the kids) graduated from high school? Notice how Mike wasn't in the episode (I can't remember why but Robert Reed didn't do the last few episodes). Carol says, "Sorry your father was out of town and couldn't be there today."
What's that about? Mike missed a meeting because Marcia needed help in math ("The Father of the Year" episode) and took the whole family to Hawaii and Kings Island on HIS business plans. You're telling me HE WASN'T AT HIS FIRST BORN'S GRADUATION? I call BS. I don't think so. Mike Brady is the best TV father in television history; his character would not miss his son's high school graduation!

I'm done.

Robert Reed had issues w/Sherwood Schwartz about the show. He was a purist in his acting & didn't care for the vaudeville type episodes. In the last eppie Greg's hair of course turns orange. This is known as slapstick I think? where laughs are manufactured sort of like 3 Stooges only Reed didn't dig that. In any event he also didn't get along w/Sherwood either; can anybody else elaborate?

My most favorite episode is really hard to tell because I love the Brady Bunch & have seen every episode. Well I guess when The Bradys got locked in jail at the ghost town or when Alice was becoming a tattletale & the kids didn't like her anymore. She left & they had to go to the restraunt & get her back.

My least favorite was the one where the Brady's did a commercial. It was so fake & stupid. Or the one where the dad thought Greg wanted to be a architect.

The reason that Mike wasn't in that episode was because in real life he was just angry because that was just such a STUPID episode. He knew that hair tonic would NOT turn hair orange. He even contacted a hair tonic place to confirm this. When he talked to the writers about it they got mad and gave all his lines to Alice and Carol. But you're right ... if he could miss a meeting for math he would NOT miss a graduation. That just goes to show how this show is ... completely UNREAL!

The one where Alice's old flame tries to swindle her out of her money was the worst.

Some more of my least favorite episodes of "The Brady Bunch" include the following:

1. Episode #101, "Getting Greg's Goat" - Two reasons: (a) I absolutely HATE the "special effects" at the beginning which only show Greg from the legs down, and (b) it has been compared to the sitcom "Three's Company", which I feel was one of the stupidest sitcoms ever made.

2. Episode #68, "Power of the Press" - for some reason I absolutely HATE the "special effect" of the "fade" from Marcia's Mr. Price puppet to Mr. Price himself.

3. Episode #46, "The Winner" - WHY OH WHY did Kartoon King blindfold the kids and take away their spoons? That I could not understand one iota! Eating ice cream with your mouth is very bad manners IMHO.

re: D&R's comment about the Jesse James episode...totally agree with you...but I'll tell you, for two people that don't like
Jesse James, Mike and Carol sure knew the entire plot of that Movie they watched with Bobby. (Mike: "Here's the scene where he
shoots the guy in the back" Carol: "Yeah, and here's where he kidnaps the woman"). Wonder how many times THEY'VE watched that flick?

And, the most amazing part is how DISAPPOINTED Mike and Carol are that all of the violent scenes were cut from the TV showing of the movie. Here they are, getting all geared up to watch a bloody, gory movie with their 9 year old (or however old Bobby was) son, and BAM! All the blood and guts are cut right out of the picture. What a letdown that must have been for them :-)

Also, to answer a previous question re: Why did the Brady's stay in the ghost town when they were prosperous? It was because the gas station attendant told them about the ghost town and the kids got all excited, so Mike and Carol agreed to stay there so the kids could have some fun...had nothing to do with money..

I think perhaps the most unwatchable episode is the Great Grandpa Brady / Great Grandma Hutchens episode...man, did I ever hate THAT one...even the episodes with Oliver were better than that crap!

Where laughs are manufactured? Robert, are you implying that the laughter heard after Greg's hair turned orange stood out from the laughter heard in other episodes?

I'm confused here!

Cousin Oliver was such a crummy actor. I remember once he was leaning against the fence watching the other guys shoot baskets. A delivery van pulls into the driveway. Oliver jumps up, points, and says "Look!" and THEN he turns his head to look at the truck. What an idiot.

The "Kelly's Kids" episode is my least favorite because it's nothing but a pilot that Sherwood Schwartz was trying to sell to ABC. I'm sure that people who didn't know this found it somewhat puzzling to tune into the Brady Bunch and see a half hour of these revolting kids standing around trying to recite lines from this stupid script without falling over. The only way they could've made this thing interesting would be to have called it "Kelly's Kids vs. Godzilla" and shown them fleeing in terror from Godzilla's radioactive breath as he destroyed the entire neighborhood including the Brady residence, which would have made a great Brady Bunch episode.
