It may have to do with how the season does in sales. If that were the case, the show wouldn't be released at all. I think it has more to do with getting the rights to the episodes and cleaning them up. The show is old and I think it's more popular than Sanford & Son. Sanford & Son was popular (deservedly so; it's one of my fave shows!), and may have had somewhat similar ratings, but All in the Family was much more groundbreaking, controversial and marketable. There was a lot of hype surrounding that show, to the point where people did a mock vote for Archie to become president of the United States. Sanford & Son had its fans, but no way did it reach (either back then or in the here and now) the cult status that All in the Family did. Sorry... Ed |
