View Full Version : Anybody in Australia Here? kramer 10-20-2004, 01:20 PM Well Seinfeld has been released today in Australia, does anyone have it? If so how about a review? I wish I lived there so I don't have to wait untill the 23rd of November! cgm_mitch 10-21-2004, 09:11 AM When i saw these topic i had to register, cause i got the box sets a couple days ago and let me say first of that you wont be disappointed. This would have to be the most comprehensive dvd box sets i have ever seen it has everything and all the cast are involved. The thing that impressed me the most is that they have interviews on each episode not just a couple but every episode. Favurite bits:Jerry seinfeld on johnny carson's tonight show and the feature Kramer vs kramer on the season 3 set. ---if u have any questions feel free to ask. kramer 10-21-2004, 12:01 PM Thank you cgm_mitch for going through the trouble of registering to post a review, and also welcome to the board. I wanted to hear what people in Australia had to say about the dvd. The truth is even if somebody said it was the worst dvd they have ever seen I would still buy it. Seinatra 10-21-2004, 11:50 PM Perhaps a rhetorical question, but why the heck was this released in Australia first? Isn't it enough that you guys have Koalas and Kangaroos? kramer 10-22-2004, 12:42 AM I don't understand it either, Seinatra. The show is an American show but it is out first in other countries. Next up will be the UK November 1st. All I can think of is they wanted it close to Thanksgiving for the shoppers and the TV special on Thansgiving. jasoncole 10-22-2004, 02:19 AM i was just reading the new posts for today when i noticed this post i am from tasmania australia (the home of taz devil ) :D do you mean to tell me that australia gets a dvd set before the U.S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would have to be a first. kramer 10-22-2004, 03:20 AM Yes jasoncole you lucky SOB, it is out NOW in Australia!!! It came out Oct 20th. You can buy it now (that is if you can find it in the store). I almost went looking for a region free DVD player so I could buy it now, but I think I will wait until 11/23. Seinatra 10-22-2004, 10:30 AM Thanks to our international friends for posting updates here! Maestro 10-22-2004, 06:11 PM Heck K-Man, after all these years another month is no biggie. Exciting to hear these 1st informal reviews. Cool! I hope to get them for Christmas. cgm_mitch, welcome to the forum. Thanx for the comments, enjoy the rest of your discs. Seinatra, you left out the Duck Billed Platypus too, {in my best strine}but their real natural commodity is all those beautiful Ozzy sheilas{/best strine} Gosh...I now feel like popping a coldi of XXXX & dropping some shrimp on the barby while I listen to a couple Men At Work cuts (sorry cgm_mitch ;) ) Ah... WTF, its Friday! Seinatra 10-22-2004, 08:02 PM I got a hankering for a vegimite sandwich. WTF, its Friday!     oh and by the way australia has disowned steve irwin !!!! he is now a yank :D :D seriously though i have only ever seen seinfeld once it seemed like a pretty good show from what i saw of it maybe i will get some eps of it one day ph1l 10-23-2004, 04:13 AM CGM_MITCH, The most important thing I want to know is are the episodes cut or not. I was hoping for a forum like this to find out. We need a "Cut - uncut" thread somewhere for new releases to save disappointment after opening the packaging. $59.99 a season down under. I thought a little steep for 18 eps. But probably worth it if uncut. cgm_mitch 10-24-2004, 08:21 AM all the episodes appear to be the same as the way the network played them.If there are any deleted scenes for an episode they are in the episode menu but nt part of the episode itself Belair 12-14-2004, 04:04 AM Originally posted by Seinatra Isn't it enough that you guys have Koalas and Kangaroos? Yeah we have Koalas and Kangaroos in ZOOS! Its not like they wander around backyards, lol. And make no mistake,Koalas are vicious little creatures. They look cute and cuddly, but i got bitten by one! How the heck did you get bitten? I bet if you spent more time in the 'outback' you would see kangaroos, wallabees, dingos and koalas running all over the place. We have squirrels and raccoons running around the backyards here, have you seen them? By the way - Welcome. Belair 12-14-2004, 06:39 PM Thanks Seinatra!:talk: You're right,if i did spend more time in the outback I'd see plenty more koalas and kangaroos, but i'm not what you'd call an 'outdoors' person.I've been all around Australia, leaving the outback such as Darwin,OUT.Hehehe. And in answer to your question, the koala must've been having an off day,and when i went to hold it,it snapped.Even the guy said to me,"I dont know why or how that happened!" See,things liker that only happen to me! H. E. Pennypacker 12-15-2004, 08:26 AM Hey Dudes Pennypacker (from Melbourne) here - right now I'm watching the Larry Charles commentary on The Limo. There is sooooo much stuff on these DVDs - and yes Australia has been lucky enough to have them first, also they've started airing the show on Free to Air again, 7.00 Weeknights, they're up to Season 3 now. Interesting to note on this and The Boyfriend I've noticed that the laugh track is absent a lot from the scenes, one of the interesting things I've learned from watching the DVDs is that a lot of the episodes, particularly "The Parking Garage", "The Subway" and "The Limo" were filmed without a studio audience. I know the early seasons were "slower paced," but the lack of a laugh track/audience added to the quite tone. Sometimes people don't like it when there is nothing to tell them *when* to laugh ;) Maestro 12-15-2004, 09:27 AM I remember on season 4 or 5 (5 I think) when the audience started doing that [distracting] roaring sitcom applause when the characters (especially Kramer) would make their 1st entry. The powers that be put a stop to that. Laters seasons seem like canned laughter as opposed to a live audience (I know they did have an audience for filming). H. E. Pennypacker 12-15-2004, 03:39 PM Yeah, for the first 10 or so episodes of Season 4 they were whooping it up for Kramer! I like that sort of thing but I also understand why they put a stop to it - the worst example of this was in "The Virgin" when Kramer bursts in the door from an offer of Chinese Food and full on waits for the audience to stop before he speaks. The episode which to me felt like canned laughter is "The Pilot" the season 4 finale is either canned or has a studio audience with about 4 members, either way as a laugh track it's weak. Best laugh track in television has always been either Cheers or Married with Children. Seinatra 12-15-2004, 10:13 PM Pennypacker - have you ever seen a kangaroo or a koala in your backyard area? H. E. Pennypacker 12-16-2004, 01:18 AM Never Koala's, they were, up until recently, endangered I think. Kangaroos are almost plague proportions in some areas, though you don't find them in urban areas (except for zoos), though I do remember when I lived in Canberra (Australia's Capital City - 350,000 people) the Royal Canberra Golf Course was overrun with kangaroos and driving at night on the freeway wasn't recommended lest one jump in front of your car! Seinatra 12-16-2004, 12:09 PM Thanks for the animal update. We have deer here that are the same danger, they just run out in the road and smack. |
