How about Vernee Watson? She was that female sweathog on Welcome Back, Kotter. J.J tried to take out Vernee Watson but she turned him down in the episode-African Romance-1 Moonlight Lady 10-25-2004, 09:55 AM Willona-Ron Harris (Barney Miller) Michael-Dee Thomas (What's Happening) Thelma-Raj Thomas (What's Happening) I agree with Nell Carter for Bookman. Debbie Allen for J.J.: I really liked them together in "J.J.'s Fiancee". too bad they had her character leave him to find heroin. knl9674 10-25-2004, 05:08 PM Willona woulda saw right thru the wanna bee player in Rollo. Not to mention, he was too young for her. She needed someone more distinguished, a little money, great sense of humor and definitely down to earth. denzel washington's character on hill street blues. PERFECTO. lionel + thelma = perfect match up. but the first lionel, not the 2nd whiney one. I think Harris' arrogance would be a major turn off for Willona; he was very stuck on himself, and I think Willona was tired of men that were more interested in themselves than they would be in her... Hmm...yeah, that's right, especially when there were talks of making his book into a movie. I'll go along with Rollo :) He was pretty cool. knl9674 10-26-2004, 10:27 AM Willona was definitely more mature than Rollo and definitely older. i'm going by at the start of each show. at the start of sanford and son and the start of good times. i do not believe they were in the same age bracket. florida and wologna grew up together. florida was around late 40s or 50s. rollo at the start of S&S was late 20s or early 30s. that's not the same age bracket. in real life they may have been the same age, but their characters were not. It's too bad Cleavon Little died, his Jerry Noland character might be compatible with Willona and they were a little more closer in age than her and Rollo. GARFIELDKOOL 10-26-2004, 10:41 AM Plus, Harris from Barney Miller seems gay to me. Rollo was never in his 20's in no season of sanford and son. The youngest i would say was 35 when it first started. He was defintely older than Lamont knl9674 10-26-2004, 01:29 PM that's why i said LATE 20s or early 30s...I was not exactly sure. Either way, he was younger than Willona...which was my original point. Either way, they are not in the same age bracket. End of convo. Either way, they are not in the same age bracket. End of convo. I wouldn't even say early 30's. IMO he was in between 35 and 40 when he started the show. Rollo was like an older brother to Lamont. So since Lamont was 32 Rollo had to be close to 40. So you mean Florida wasn;t in Rollo's and Willona Age Bracket-lol You just gave me and idea to start a topic on the Sanford and Son board. knl9674 10-26-2004, 01:45 PM Rollo...TOPS...I will give you 35...even though that seems rather old to still be chasing the girls and acting silly at clubs. Rollo was extremely immature...which is why i don't picture him close to 40. PLUS, he didn't look it. Rollo was not in Florida or Wologna's age bracket. They went to school together. They were close to if not the same age. The Florida character was supposed to be in her 50s originally. I'm assuming they stuck with this. And they did a poor job of casting a friend for Florida because it was clear that Esther Rolle was much older than Janet Dubios. A better friend for Florida would have been Wanda. GARFIELDKOOL 10-26-2004, 02:35 PM It shouldn't matter about their character's ages! The bottom line is Rollo and Willona would have made a good couple! I know Rollo was a little wild and immature, but he seemed to be more her speed! Here is the real end of the conversation Nathaniel Taylor's Real Age from 1973-1977 1973-35 1974-36 1975-37 1976-38 1977-39 Late 20"s-LOL Lady T 10-26-2004, 06:44 PM Originally posted by GARFIELDKOOL Plus, Harris from Barney Miller seems gay to me. Harris (Ron Glass) started to act real gay towards the latter seasons of Barney Miller, but his character on that show still chased after women, which I always thought was kinda of funny, because he acted really nelly acting around the 6th season; as for rumors of Glass being gay in real life, I heard that he makes no bones about liking men and is open about his relationships in Hollywood  Lady T 10-26-2004, 06:48 PM Originally posted by GARFIELDKOOL It shouldn't matter about their character's ages! I agree, even though I love Willona, she was also wild and immature for her age... Lady T 10-26-2004, 10:19 PM How about Willona and Venus Flytrap of WKRP in Cincinnati...I think they would make a cute couple, both had a very unique style, and were both flashy, in both in the way they dressed and in their personalities... |
