what's your opinion of online dating, and having internet relationships? i personally think its wrong. you never know who you might be talking to, and plus you're forming crushes based on words on a screen.

I would like to have a date sometime but I'm not THAT desperate! Will never use online dating

My brother has used it, and he got himself a nice date. Another cousin of mind did it, and met his future wife. But of the options provided, I don't give a damn.

I don't see why you have to be "desperate" to use it. Some people are too busy to maybe waste time going to go "clubbin" or whatever and try to meet people. It's really no different than looking at the personal ads in a local paper.

I never gave it much thought, but a good friend of mine met his fiance through the Yahoo personals, so I guess it must work.

i've liked people on the internet. go on everyone and whine and cry about how that's impossible because i've never seen them and that i'm desperate and have no life because of it.

No matter how often you talk to someone online you really don't know the person that you are talking to. In fact, the person you are talking to may not be the person they claim to be. Though I say that my name is Mike and that I was born on August 5, 1976, no one here knows if that is true or if I'm lying about myself. Some one may gone unline and strike up a conversation with a girl or a guy who claims to be 25 but is really 12! Online dating is to risky in my opinion. A 15 year old girl could strike up a relationship with someone online that claims to be a 15 year old boy but is really some 50 year old pervert. I am totally anti-online dating.

I met my significant other through a dating service and we are still together and very much in love. It will make 10 years on March 31, 2005 and it made 3 years beginning of July that we have been living together.

I am totally anti-online dating. the same can be said for the offline world as well; you have to be careful trusting anyone you don't know, and while i wouldn't advocate intentionally persuing it, i believe that it IS possible to form a substantional relationship with someone online.

I know many people that have met people that way. My step-aunt met her husband that way, and they have been married a few years. I wouldnt suggest it for younger people, as there are sexual predators and whatnot, but, I am confused with what you mean by "wrong". Teenage online relationships are indeed stupid, but I dont see the problem with adults.

Also, I have met many girls online that were very interesting, and the type of people I would be interesting in dating did I know them IRL, that type of thing isnt uncommon, but I havnt ever got to the point where I was upset because I didnt know them IRL and wished i did. That said, there are people that I would surely meet was it convienent (for example, were we in the same area for an unrelated reason). It certainly isnt "wrong", but it isnt the way I would go about "finding love". However, if I was an adult who worked constantly, and had trouble getting out to meet people, I could certainly see the benefit. Afterall, many single parents use the services, because it is hard for them to get out to meet people, and even if they do, it is hard to find people who want children that aren't their own.

Personally, I think online dating is just another way to meet someone. I have a good friend who met her boyfriend online and they've been together a long time--and they are not weirdos or odd-balls or anything. It worked great for them.

I'd never do it, however, because it's just not my thing. Therefore, "I don't give a damn." ;)

*shrugs* I wouldn't do it, but I do know people who have had success.

And for a certain person who's name I'm not mentioning, some people "have lifes" but may have social anxiety and don't prefer to "go to the bars and stuff". For some, online may be easier. Just because people do things different than you and you may not agree how they follow through with their actions, doesn't mean they have no life.

Theres no doubt it has worked, but I still wouldn't try it.

IMO, I think it's weird.
How do you know if this boy/girl you meet online is really what they say they are? What if they're some mean person or something?
Well, you just need to be careful.

I'd never do it - I don't think I've ever been that desperate for a date ;)

But my friend in France met her boyfriend over the internet when they both moved into the same new town. I guess it made sense to them, and now they're getting married.

Well, whatever floats yer boat. Not for me, but I guess it does work for some people.

One of my best friends met her boyfriend online. Theyve been together now like.. 4 years or so and living together. And frankly, meeting a guy at a bar isnt exactly the best way to meet a guy, either so I wouldnt talk about 'getting a life'. Im only 20 and while I do want a boyfriend, Im not looking into online dating just yet.

You know what? Love is love. It doesn't matter where you find it, as long as it's real.

Why do you people care if someone found their love online? It's no different than meeting someone at the corner store...and how is it desperate? I find that offensive! That's closed-minded bullsh*t!

I met Lacey (otherwise known as laceyinthesky here at sitcoms online) online, and we've been together for three wonderful years. We now live together.

You may call that desperate, but I call it love.
