Chico and the Man or Welcome Back, Kotter? I like both, but I'll take WBK. Only because I know all the words to it.

CarJackSnyder 10-07-2004, 04:34 PM Welcome Back, Kotter AB 03-09-2007, 12:18 AM Welcome Back Kotter, it was probably more popular. comedyfreak 03-09-2007, 12:39 AM Welcome Back Kotter for me. catlover79 03-09-2007, 12:48 AM I'll go with the Chico and the Man theme. TVFactFan 03-09-2007, 01:39 AM Both were really DRY but between the two, WBK was better Zoneboy 03-09-2007, 02:41 AM Welcome Back Kotter, it was probably more popular. It's one of only 2 theme songs that I'm aware of that hit #1 on the Billboard singles charts. The other being "Theme From S.W.A.T" by Rhythm Heritage. I was thinking there was at least one other but I can't pin it down. megamanj2004 03-09-2007, 03:27 PM Both themes had something going on there. But it has to be WBK - because it's more of a well-known show and more familair with most audiences.. Then again I also like CatM - because of the music reflected on the show's charatcer and the Latino settings. catlover79 03-09-2007, 03:36 PM Both themes had something going on there. I picked the Chico theme because I find it more melodic. :) catlover79 03-10-2007, 03:35 PM It's one of only 2 theme songs that I'm aware of that hit #1 on the Billboard singles charts. You missed one - "How Do You Talk To An Angel" by The Heights (from the short-lived drama The Heights) went to #1 in the fall of 1992. Sorry, According to Billboard, That song peaked at #3 the week of 11/28/1992. It was kept out of the #1 position by "I'd Die Without You" by P.M. Dawn & "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. Now I know what the 3rd one is. "Theme from Miami Vice" by Jan Hammer. It hit #1 the week of 11/09/1985 catlover79 03-12-2007, 10:26 PM Sorry, According to Billboard, That song peaked at #3 the week of 11/28/1992. I don't see as it arguing, You have merely proven your point and I'm glad you did. My source of info was from a website where people trade old radio shows. The person who runs the site has an inventory of American Top 40 programs. All shows listed have the complete details but there are some programs that he doesn't have including the week of 11/14/1992 which is why I didn't know that it actually hit #1. My Brother who has the current edition of the book also verified what you said and with that in mind, I sincerely apologize for my error and the number of tv themes to hit #1 now stands at 4. catlover79 03-13-2007, 11:42 AM I don't see as it arguing, You have merely proven your point and I'm glad you did.
