View Full Version : First Female Duo on Update *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-02-2004, 01:53 PM http://www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/cst-ftr-update02.html Brian Damage 10-02-2004, 02:04 PM I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of Amy Poeller. But who knows, the two might have some chemistry. snl75 10-02-2004, 06:37 PM amy takes some getting used to but she sort of grew on me im sort of glad jimmys gone in general but he and tina were magic on update it wont be esay for amy to follow him ThirteenInchEscape 10-03-2004, 03:43 AM It wasnt bad at all, but Jimmy is a tough act to follow with how great they do. Though, all the lesbian jokes Tina makes could be greatly improved now with another girl there. barwars 10-03-2004, 07:09 AM Originally posted by ThirteenInchEscape It wasnt bad at all, but Jimmy is a tough act to follow with how great they do. Like.... we'd never Chris Farley hosting it, would we?? robyrob 10-03-2004, 09:30 AM Originally posted by Brian Damage I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of Amy Poeller. But who knows, the two might have some chemistry. i've been a big fan of Amy Poeller ever since that skit with her and Chris Kattan and the "ima suck yer toe-thumb" bit, she seemed a little TOO excited but maybe she'll get better as she settles into the position Central Perk 10-03-2004, 10:39 AM I've always loved Amy, she's one of my favorite castmembers. I think she did a good job, and she'll hopefully ease into the anchor position as time passes. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-03-2004, 03:07 PM Originally posted by ThirteenInchEscape It wasnt bad at all, but Jimmy is a tough act to follow with how great they do. Ugh, that's just rude. FEY: Tell me about it. That's what Jimmy did to me. I thought he loved me, it turned out he was just trying to steal my kidney. POEHLER: Oh my god. I'm sorry to hear that, Tina. FEY: No, it's fine. I'm over it. Actually, I think this is gonna work out really well between me and you... because, it's got good energy. It's gonna be kinda cool.. like that movie Monster. POEHLER: Yea..? FEY: You saw that movie Monster, right? POEHLER: Yea...are you gonna kill me? FEY: No, I'm gonna kill other people and you're gonna be my girlfriend I really miss Jimmy...but he's God in my world, I'm supposed to. And Amy is great on update, I would've never thought of her, but it turned out great. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-03-2004, 03:07 PM Originally posted by robyrob i've been a big fan of Amy Poeller ever since that skit with her and Chris Kattan and the "ima suck yer toe-thumb" bit, she seemed a little TOO excited but maybe she'll get better as she settles into the position Something wrong with excited people, Roby? :cuss: ;) AKA 10-03-2004, 03:41 PM As much as I love Don Pardo, I think it's time for him to hang it up. He pooched at least two names yesterday during the opening. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-03-2004, 10:34 PM Originally posted by AKA As much as I love Don Pardo, I think it's time for him to hang it up. AKA 10-04-2004, 12:44 AM Originally posted by *A TV People* Wiiiillll ferteersrewa No. Never. Don Pardo's voice is CLASSIC. I also noticed "Rachel Ratch." Don Pardo's voice is, indeed, classic. He was noticeably missing from the show in the early '80s. Maybe the powers that be should consider pre-recording his voice-overs shortly before airtime, instead of letting him do it live, to avoid screw ups. He's 86, after all, and mistakes are going to happen more frequently than they would have 30 years ago. I recall an incident in 1995(?) when he announced Mark McKinney as "Mark McKean" in the opening credits. Dr. Jazz 10-04-2004, 12:53 AM Originally posted by AKA I also noticed "Rachel Ratch." I was glad to see him in that sketch last May on the season finale. That was the first time he's been seen on-screen in years. He used to appear briefly in sketches quite often. I remember he also used to talk over the closing credits a lot too. felicitylen 10-04-2004, 09:14 AM I thought Amy did an good job. Did anyone think there were some awkward moments? Dr. Jazz 10-04-2004, 10:35 AM Originally posted by felicitylen I thought Amy did an good job. Did anyone think there were some awkward moments? I don't think the Debbie Downer sketch did as well as the show had hoped. I thought it was funny, but the studio audience didn't seem to laugh very much, plus the cast members weren't cracking up like last time. As much as I hate to say it, I don't think we'll be seeing another Debbie Downer sketch for a while. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-04-2004, 09:58 PM Originally posted by AKA I also noticed "Rachel Ratch." See, that's what I thought they did, was record them ahead of time...until one time last season when he called Chris Parnell, Chris Katten :/ Who WOULD ever replace that man? :( *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-04-2004, 09:59 PM Originally posted by Dr. Jazz Yeah, Don was absent during the 1981-82 season. In the earliest seasons I've watched on E!, he did that and I love it  *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-04-2004, 10:00 PM Originally posted by felicitylen I thought Amy did an good job. I agree, although I think Tina should do it alone. Finese's "black names" bit bombed terribly, but I think he would make a better cohost than Amy, although Tina alone would be best. CliffClavin 10-12-2004, 01:16 PM Awwww...Tina   I don't know what is about her but..;) barwars 10-14-2004, 05:11 PM Here's a great pic of them together.... http://images.nbcmv.com/photos/preview/saturdaynightlive/2SNLaiN04.jpg Although I still think Tina should have it to herself. That is a good pic  Hmm, I think it kind of loses something when people do it alone. I don't know... barwars 10-14-2004, 05:16 PM Originally posted by *A TV People* That is a good pic  Hmm, I think it kind of loses something when people do it alone. I don't know... My personal favorite was Norm MacDonald (or is McDonald??).... followed by Chevy and Jane .... then Kevin Nealon .... then Tina and Jimmy (although if Tina were to do it alone, it would be the best) CliffClavin 10-14-2004, 05:17 PM Colin Quinn, Norm Macdonald,Dennis Miller, & Kevin Nealon did it alone. Aykroyd was good with Jane also. |
