Hey guys!! This fic I am going to be very on top of. Unfortunately, I need to end some of my old fics. I will write this one and keep one of my old ones so if you have any preferences to what one I should keep, let me know. This fic is based on a TV show I watched last night. I'm not gonna say what one because it will give all the surprises away but I hope you like it.:wave:

It was just a regular day at the San Francisco Police Department. CD DeLorenzo had woken up on a bright Monday morning. However, she had a really bad headache. She just didn't feel herself. Anyway, she got dressed and went on with her day. She walked in and no one was in the bull pen. She had never seen it so empty and quiet before. Then she felt asomeone grab her shoulders from behind. It was a woman with red hair in a fluffy victorian dress. CD then looked down at herself, wearing rags. She was thinking to herself that she look a lot like Cinderella. The woman in front of her was screaming in her face.

Stepmother- Cinderella, what are you doing standing around like that? This place is a mess! Do those dishes! Mop the floor! Do the laundry! NOW!

Once CD heard and saw that, she turned around to find Kate standing there not wearing a dress. She looked down at herself and found herself back in her own clothes.

CD- What?
Kate- I said you and Nate should get down to the crime scene now. Are you feeling okay?
CD- Yeah I'm fine..I think.
Kate- Ok well there's Nate now. Here's the addres. Get going.

CD took the piece of paper with the adress and turned around to walk out the door and saw Nate standing in the doorway, wearing a white prince outfit. Magda and Raina weren't far behind him. They were wearing fluffy victorian dresses too. She looked back at Kate who was back in her dress. CD looked down to see her in rags again.

Prince- Are you coming my love? *Held his hand out for her*

CD looked at him, then the stepmother, then the step sisters, then back at herself.

CD- AHHHHH!!! WHAT'S GOING ON!?!?!

She screamed and ran into the locker room.

She ran into the locker room. Jinny, who was just walking in, heard the whole thing.

Jinny- What happened?
Nate- I don't know. I asked her if she wanted to drive and I tried to hand her the car keys and she flipped!
Jinny- Let me go talk to her.

Jinny walked into the locker room to find CD in a bathroom stall.

Jinny- CD?
CD- Yeah?

CD opened the door and looked at her wearing a bright blue sparlking dress.

CD- Jinny what are you wearing??
Fairy- I'm not Jinny. You think I am but I'm not.
CD- Who are you? What is going on?
Fairy- I'm your fairy godmother. You are sick CD. The working too hard is catching up with you. You need to be prepared of what is going to happen while you're gone.
CD- Gone where? I don't understand.
Fairy- You will. I'll see you soon. Close your eyes.

CD closed her eyes and opened them to find Jinny standing there.

Jinny- Hello?? Anyone home?
CD- What?
Jinny- Are you coming out of here anytime soon? Nate's waiting to go.
CD- Oh ok let's go.
Jinny- Are you ok?
CD- Yeah. I just haven't been feeling myself today.
Jinny- Apparently. Go to the doctors.
CD- I think I'm going to have to. Thanks Jin. *Leaves*

So CD, taking Jinny's advice, went to a neurologist to try and find out why she was having these hallucinations of Cinderella.

Doctor Sid- So Candance, what seems to be the problem?
CD- Well I have been having a little bit of headaches and I haven't been sleeping to good. I am a little feverish and um..I keep seeing the characters from Cinderella.
Doctor- Cinderella? Well that's a new one for me. *Giggles*
CD- *Not amused*
Doctor Sid- Ok well most likely it is the flu or it could be stress or a combination of both! What do you do?
CD- I am an inspector at the San Francisco Police Department.
Doctor Sid- Then my guess is a combination. Ok I am going to give you some antibiotics and I want you to get right to bed as soon as you leave here.
CD- Well that's not possible because I have a ball to go to..
Doctor Sid- *Gives weird look*
CD- *Realizes what she said* I mean I have a witness to go see.
Doctor Sid- Ok then..

He turned to write down a prescription and when he did, CD turned and saw him turn into a pumpkin. She couldn't believe what she was seeing! CD's eyes popped out of her head.

Doctor Sid- Ok now here's some--

He turned back to CD and all he heard was the door shutting and CD gone! CD decided to take a little walk in the park and sat on a bench. She buried her head in her hands. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She kept going over and over in her head about what the fairy godmother had said. Then there was a tap on her shoulder.

Fairy- You look lost.
CD- I am lost. I don't know where to go or what to do. I keep seeing you people and I don't know what's real and what's not.
Fairy- The truth is between the silences.
CD- What does that mean? I don't understand.
Fairy- I think it means you just need some rest.
CD- Some sleep..yeah that could be good. Sleep..

She laid her head down on the fairy godmother's lap and began her long and painful journey.

A woman passed by a bench in the park to find a woman lying down. She didn't look homeless so the woman tried to shake her awake. She wouldn't wake up or move. The woman took out her cell phone.

Operator- This is 9-1-1. What is your emergency?
Woman- *Panicing* I found a woman on a park bench. She isn't moving or waking up.

After the paramedics got there, they rushed CD right to the hospital. While the doctors were working on her, the nurse found her police badge and called the emergency contact number. Kate was sitting at her desk and looked out to see that CD wasn't there. So she walked out to ask Nate.

Kate- Nate, where's your partner at?
Nate- She said she wasn't feeling well. She has been acting very strange the last few days.
Magda- Well do you blame her? If I went with you for two weeks on vacation, I'd act strange too.
Nate- *Glares* No I mean REALLY strange.
Jinny- I think she's gone to the doctors. I told her to.
Raina- Maybe she's pregnant!
Nate- *Eyes widen*
Magda- Raina!
Raina- Well think about it. Two weeks on vacation with Nate. Now acting strange and going to the doctors. It all fits.
Jinny- Unlike your head!
Raina- Hey!

Kate's office phone starting to ring. She shook her head and went into her office.

Nate- Jinny, you don't think..
Jinny- No I don't so don't even think it.
Magda- Hey, is Captain ok? She looks so pale and upset in there.

Kate walked out of her office.

Kate- Nate, in my office.
Raina- Ooh you're in trouble!
Jinny & Magda- SHUT UP RAINA!

In Kate's office..

Nate- Yes Captain?
Kate- I'm so sorry Nate.
Nate- What?
Kate- It's CD. She's in the hospital.
Nate- What? Is she alright?
Kate- She was found unconsious in the park. They called me because I am on her emergency contact card. The doctor's are working on her now. Go over there. They are expecting you.

Nate didn't say anymore. He ran out the doors and to his car.

Jinny- Cap'n, what happened?
Kate- I don't know. CD's in the hospital. Jinny, go with him. I don't think he should be alone.
Jinny- Ok. I'll keep you guys updated.
Kate- Thanks. I'll be over there as soon as I can.

Nate and Jinny showed up at the hospital. It seemed like the ride took 2 days when it was really 20 minutes.

Nate- I'm Inspector Basso. Can you tell me where Candace DeLorenzo is?
Nurse- Let me take you to Doctor Sid first.
Nate- I want to see CD!
Jinny- Nate, talk to the doctor first.
Nate- Alright Jin. Let me see Doctor Sid.
Doctor Sid- I'm Doctor Sid. Who are you?
Nate- Im Inspector DeLorenzo's partner.
Doctor Sid- Oh yes. I am Candace's neurologist. I'm so sorry. She arrived here in a coma.
Nate- Wait..a coma? How can that be? She's perfectly healthy. PERFECTLY HEALTHY!!!

CD is standing outside her hospital room looking in at herself through the window. She starts talking to herself, not knowing anyone was listening.

CD- I don't look too good.
Angel- That's for sure.
CD- Who are you?
Angel- My name's Jane. I'm here to take you up.
CD- UP?!
Angel- *Laughs* Everyone gets nervous when I say that.
CD- That's not funny!
Angel- Gee, everyone gets high strung too.
CD- *Rolls eyes* So what do you mean "go up"?
Angel- To take you to the Paradise Hotel.
CD- Para--wait, I'm not..
Angel- No no no. Remember, you are in a coma. That's all.
CD- Well what's going on? I don't understand any of this.
Angel- That's not really for me to tell you. You'll have to ask Jake that.
CD- Who's Jake?
Angel- Oh he's the big guy who will be taking care of you. Don't worry he won't bite..hard.
CD- That's a comfort.
Angel- I thought it would be. You ready?
CD- Wait. Just give me a minute.

CD stopped and just looked through the window. She didn't want to be like this. She wanted to get out of the stupid coma so she could be with Nate. Oh god how she wanted to be with Nate. He sat there looking down at CD. He had tears in his eyes. Jinny sat next to him and held his hands as he cried. CD was about ready to burst into tears. Then they saw Doctor Sid come in with a gurney to take her up for the CT Scan.

CD- I don't want to die.
Angel- I know. But it really isnt as bad as you people on earth think. No 6:00 alarms, no appointments to make, no worries. Just peace.
CD- Peace to me is listening to my boyfriend's voice whispering 'I love you'.

Nate- I love you CD. I'll be right here when you come back. I'm not going anywhere.

They took CD up to the room.

Angel- They look so concerned don't they?
CD- They're my best friends.
Angel- You ready? How do you feel?
CD- Weird..but good. I love hearing this..
Angel- Silence?
CD- *Smiles* Yeah.
Angel- I thought the same when I came here. It's not only silence however. It's..in between the silences.
CD- *Realizing and smiles* That's where you find the truth.
Angel- Let's go. Welcome to Paradise Hotel.

CD came back from all of her tests. Nate and Jinny never left her side. About 7:00PM, Kate, Raina, and Magda showed up to see how she's doing.

Kate- Hi. How is she?
Nate- Does she look alright??
Jinny- Nate, you have been snapping at the doctors, nurses, the other patients, and now Captain. What is wrong?
Nate- Gee what on earth could be wrong? My girlfriend, the only person I really loved, is in a coma. She could die!
Kate- But Nate, yelling at everyone isn't going to bring CD out of it.
Nate- I know Cap. I'm sorry guys. I just feel so helpless. I mean, look at her.
Magda- Why don't me and Jinny go over to her place and bring some things over?
Jinny- Good idea. We won't be gone too long.
Nate- Don't you need something?
Magda- What?
Nate- The key!
Jinny- Well I thought I would use some karate chops to open the door but the key will work too.

~In the car~

Magda- He's not handling this well at all.
Jinny- Should he be?
Magda- What did the doctor say about how she got into this coma?
Jinny- Nothing yet. They ran some tests and we should know the results soon.
Magda- I'm scared Jin.
Jinny- Me too Mag.

~Paradise Hotel~

CD- Where am I?
Jane- This is your room. You will stay here until you are done being judged.
CD- Judged?
Jane- Yeah well..*Sighs* Let Paul explain it to you.
CD- Who's Paul?
Paul- *Appears* I'm Paul. Head coordinator around here.
CD- Nice to meet you Paul. Now can you tell em what the hell is going on around here?

Jinny- Haha very funny. We also brought some of her CDs. I've heard that people in a coma can still hear you, so she will like the music and make her feel more at home.
Kate- Wow I'm impressed! You actually read a book?
Jinny- Are you kidding? I looked it up online.
Kate- Of course. *They both laugh* *Doctor Sid walks in*
Doctor Sid- Glad to hear some laughing from this room.
Kate- Sorry, we were just--
Doctor Sid- No really. It's very important. for coma patients to be surrounded by positive surroundings.
Nate- Yeah a few people laughing will bring her out of this..
Jinny- Nate..
Doctor Sid- It's ok Miss Exstead. Mr. Basso, do you know if Candace has been bitten by anything?
Nate- *Pauses* Ye..no. Maybe. I don't know.
Doctor Sid- Alright well think about that and let me know. All of the other tests came back negative. We can't test for anything else until we know what she was probably exposed to. I'll be back later to check on her before I leave.
Nate- You're leaving?? What if she wakes up or flatlines? What then!?
Doctor Sid- There are many neurologists just as good as I am and they are all familiar with this case. I will be back tomorrow morning at 8.
Kate- It's going to be fine Nate.
Nurse- Excuse me but visiting hours are over.
Nate- I'm not leaving.
Nurse- I'm sorry Sir but you have to. The rules are ve--
Nate- *Flashes badge* SFPD.
Doctor Sid- *Laughs* I authorize two people can stay if they wish.
Nurse- What ever..*Leaves*
Jinny- I'll stay. I came here with Nate and I want to be here when she wakes up.
Kate- I'll be back at lunchtime tomorrow. You two, don't worry about the work. It'll be taken care of.
Jinny- Thanks.
Nate- We appreciate it.
Kate- Yeah well enjoy it while it lasts 'cause she's going to wake up before we know it!
Nate- *Tries to smile but cant*
Magda- Ben's probably eating everything in site so I have to go get him some Mickey D's for dinner. I'll be back tomorrow and call me if anything changes.
Jinny- We will.

Paul- Well that's hard to say. I mean there's a waiting list.
CD- Oh great! What is it? 3 months?
Paul- Well we guarentee that people will be judged between now and the rest of all eternity.
CD- You're joking..
Paul- Haha nope. You will come back here every night at 7PM for a meeting with me. You ready to go?
CD- You mean now?
Paul- *Rolls eyes* No in 10 years. *Laughs* Of course now.
CD- Well..I guess.
Paul- Ok close your eyes.

CD closed her eyes and felt something like wind on her face. She opened her eyes and found herself in rags again. Then she heard the screams.

Stepmother- Cinderella!
Stepsister 1- Cinderella!
Stepsister 2- Cinderella!
CD- Oh my god. *Looked at her stepmother* Kate?
Stepmother- What do you think you're doing? You call me Stepmother and nothing else!
Stepsister 1- Mother is she giving attitude again?
Stepsister 2- Of course. She always is.
CD- Raina? Mag? This has got to be a joke..

Nate- Okay? No, but better. I guess once I realized it was true, I knew this was something I couldn't fix for her. This is something she needs to want to do. She has to want to come back to us.
Jinny- Ah she will. All she has to do is remember how great sex was with you and she'll wake up!
Nate- Jinny!
Jinny- You might not kiss and tell but she does..

Just then, a nurse came into the room.

Nurse- Mr. Basso, there's someone here to see you.
Nate- Who?
Nurse- She doesn't want me to say. She's afraid you'll tell her to go away without talking to her. I told her to sit in the nurse's lounge and you'd be right there.
Nate- Oh if there was ever a time it was bad of her to show up, it's now.
Jinny- Who is it?
Nate- Who do you think? Lily. She got mad at me for breaking up with her for CD and now that CD's in trouble, she wants to talk.
Jinny- Well I owuld just talk to her. What harm could it do?
Nate- Alright. If anything happens..
Jinny-..I'll rush to get you. Go!

Nate went to the nurse's station to find out where the lounge was. On the way there, he kept thinking over and over of what Lily wants from him. When he finally found it, Lily wasn't in there. It was just some older woman. He was aggrivated and was ready to leave until the elder woman came up to him.

Woman- Excuse me, Mr. Basso?
Nate- Yes.

Woman- You don't remember me do you?
Nate- I'm sorry should I?
Woman- Probably not. With what kind of person I am and what I did to my own flesh and blood, I--
Nate- I'm sorry, flesh and blood?
Woman- My daughter. I'm Polly Dankow, Candace's mother.
Nate- What are you doing here?
Polly- I heard about my daughter and I wanted to be here for her. Is that so hard to believe?
Nate- Well after everything I heard about you, I didn't think you would come here at all.
Polly- Come on, give me a little credit. You only met me once.
Nate- Well when I heard aout the..rape and everything..
Polly- I know I seem like the most horrible mother in the world but I do care and believe it or not, Candace did forgive me.
Nate- I know she did but I didn't. That guy took away the most important thing to CD..her childhood.
Polly- Nate believe me I know and I feel terrible about that whole thing. But it's in the past. Forgive and forget Nate.
Nate- I have to get back to CD. *Gets ready to leave*
Polly- Nate..
Nate- Yeah?
Polly- Forgive and forget?
Nate- Forgive. Never forget.
Polly- *Smiles* Thanks.
Nate- Come by later and see CD.
Polly- Thanks Nate.

Nate smiled at Polly and walked back to CD's room.

Jinny- So what did she say?
Nate- You're starting to sound like Raina. *Laughs*
Jinny- Oh god oh god I'm so sorry!!! *They both laugh*
Nate- Well anyway, it wasn't Lily. It was Polly, CD's mom.
Jinny- That's good isn't it? Although I never really heard a lot about her mom.
Nate- You mean she never told you about what happened to her?
Jinny- No what?

Well Merry Belated Christmas everybody! I hope you guys are still into this fic. I was having computer problems again but all is good now and I am all set to write. There should be more on this tonight or tomorrow. Hope everyone's holidays were safe and merry. :)

Sorry I was a little late. School started back up again and..well you know..better late than never lol. Well here's a little more.

After CD's little meeting with Paul, she came right back home. Of course, her Stepmom wasn't happy that she had been gone all that time. She was furious.

Stepmom- Where have you been? It's 7:45. It's way past dinner time. Now we're all off schedule!
CD- Big deal. Cool your jets I'll just make it now.
Stepmom- I do not appreciate your attitude. And furthermore I do not like you disobeying my orders. You are not to be out. You told me you were going up to your room. I sent your sisters to get you and you weren't there. Where were you?
CD- I was out. It is not a big deal.
Stepmom- Oh yes it is.
CD- Fine I won't do it again. I just need to..*thinks* go feed chickens every night at 7.
Stepmom- Feed chickens?
CD- Yeah.
Stepmom- I don't know what your tricks are but I will find them out. Feed your chickens, make dinner, then go to bed.
CD- Thank you.
Stepmom- As for this attitude, you will be doing extra chores tomorrow.
CD- *Mummbled* I figured that.

Meanwhile, Nate stayed right by CD's side at the hospital. Jinny went home for the night. It was about 9:00 in the evening and there was a knock at the door.

Nate- Come in.
Polly- Hi Nate.
Nate- Hi.

Polly kind of froze in the doorway. It was about a year since she had seen her daughter and fear had just stricken her when she walked into that room. From across the room she saw her daughter lying in that hospital bed, looking lifeless, and she was frozen with fear.

Nate- It's okay come here.
Polly- I..I--
Nate- I know. It's scary. *Walks over to her* I'll help you.
Polly- *Walked over with Nate* Oh my gosh. I've never seen her like this. Do the doctors know--
Nate- It's pretty much up to CD now.
Polly- The nurse said because I was family, I could stay. Is it okay with you?
Nate- Yeah, it's okay with me.
Polly- Thank you Nate. Things will be different between Candance and me. It really will.

A whole week had passed and there was no improvement. CD was still in that hospital bed and Nate stayed there all day and night. Meanwhile in Cinderella Story, they were being cruel to CD the entire time she was there. CD tried to talk to Paul about it, but he said she had to stick it out until she was judged. She was stuck. One day, there was a loud knock on the door. A man handed CD a letter. She was about to open it when her stepsisters came rushing over and grabbed the letter right out of her hands.

CD- You're looking for a punch in the nose aren't ya?
Stepsister 1- Is that a threat? Go clean something!
Stepsister 2- *Reads the letter* Oh my goodness! Mother! Come here!
Stepmom- What is it now? Don't tell me Cinderella is misbehaving again.
CD- It's CD! And they started it.
Stepsister 2- No no. We've been invited to a ball!
Stepmom- Let me see that. *Reads it* It seems the Prince needs to find a wife so the King and Queen are throwing him a ball. All the young maidens in the kingdom are invited.
CD- Even me?

All three of them burst out laughing.

Stepsister 1- Are you serious?
CD- *Glares*
Stepsister 1- Oh my, she's actually serious! *Giggles*
Stepsister 2- Can you imagine her walking into that castle in those rags! That would be so funny.
Stepmom- You are not going Cinder--
CD- CD!!
Stepmom- Fine CD, you're not going!
CD- Hey, I am allowed to go. It says all the young maidens. I am a young maiden like those two twits over there.

Stepmom- You spend today making your own dress. The ball is tomorrow night.

~Hospital~

Nate- Doctor, how much longer is she going to be like this? It's been over a week! When is she going to wake up?
Doctor Sid- I'm sorry Nate. We've run all the tests and we can't seem to find out what is wrong. We still have one more special test to run. If that comes back negative, I don't know what else I can do until she wakes up. I'm sorry.
Nate- Me too.
Doctor Sid- I will be in CD's room soon to take the test. Nate- Thank you.

Nate went back to CD's room. Polly went home for a little while and Jinny was now there with Nate. Raina, Magda, and Kate were going to stop by later. Nate walked into the room and pulled up the chair next to Jinny.

Jinny- You okay?
Nate- Okay? No. She's got to wake up soon Jin. She has to!
Jinny- She will buddy. There's nothing more she wants than to come back to her Natey. *Grins*
Nate- *Blushes* Very funny. Listen, I am going to go grab a shower and some clothes. Can you stay with her while I'm gone.
Jinny- Sure.
Nate- I have my cell. If anyting happens..
Jinny- You're the first one I call. Go.

It was 6:55PM and CD had to go met Paul. She hated the excuse she gave though.

CD- I have to go feed the chickens now.
Stepmom- Fine go!

CD arrived in Paul's office. She of course had a disgusted look on her face.

Paul- What's wrong now?
CD- Paul I can't do this anymore. They're so rotten to me. They treat me like a dog.
Paul- Well hopefully it wont be for much longer.
CD- You said that a week ago. Come on. I've got friends and family who need me. I want to see my mothe. I need to see Nate and Jinny. I need to go home. Please let me go home. Well as I said something miraculous might happen.
CD- And I'll just hold my breath..

~Hospital~

Nate left and Jinny was there with CD. Jinny got closer to CD's bed and grabbed CD's hand and just held it. Jinny started talking to her.

Jinny- CD, you know this isn't funny. It's been over a week. You've had to get enough sleep by now. *Tries to laugh* We all miss you. You need to pull through this. Nate is falling apart. He only leaves to take showers and get clothes. Everyone at the station is worried. Who am I going to talk to about all the problems going on in my life? Besides Magda. We all need you here CD. *Wiped the tears starting to fall* How about some music? Maybe you can hear it. Let's see what you got here. *Looks through her CD's* I wonder what this 'Personal CD' is. What have you got on here CD huh? Well we'll look at that later. Let's see what else. *Looks through some more* Oh gosh I remember you saying you loved this song once. This is the perfect song.

She put the CD into the CD player and turned to the track and a song began to play.

So CD went back to her home and was trying her best to make a dress. She only had a day to do it, but it seemed everytime she got started on the dress, she got interupted.

Stepmother- You need to make dinner now. It's late again.
CD- I can't I'm making my dress. Can't one of the other two do it for tonight? Or order something in.
Stepmother- Order something in? What are you talking about?
CD- *thinks* Ooops. Uh nevermind. I'll be down in a few minutes.
Stepmother- No..NOW!
CD- Boy someone's got some nasty PMS!
Stepmother- What was that?
CD- Uh..how about some pasta?
Stepmother- Whatever just do it now!
CD- Fine!

After she cooked dinner, she went back upstairs to do her dress and who should be calling her but her sisters.

Stepsister 1- Hey "CD" I need you to wash some things for tomorrow.
CD- You wait until now?
Stepsister 1- My bad. But it still needs to get done.
Stepsister 2- Yes and I need you to go to stores in town and get me some things for my hair tomorrow.
CD- I don't think so. I have other things to do.
Stepsister 1- Don't make me yell for Mother.
CD- Like I care. You can do your own laundry and you can do your own shopping.

CD- *Sighs*

~Hospital~

It was about 9:30PM that night and Nate and Jinny had fallen asleep. They heard a knock on the hospital room door.

Nate- Come in. *Door opens*

Magda, Raina, and Kate had come through the door.

Kate- Hey. We come with real food.
Jinny- *Laughs* Thanks. I don't know how much more Jello I can eat. I don't understand why they give coma patients breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. They can't eat!
Raina- Come on there's always room for Jello!
Kate- So how is she today?
Nate- The same. She's no better but she's no worse.
Magda- Maybe in some ways that's a good thing.
Nate- I guess.
Jinny- So what did you bring to eat?
Kate- Well I know it's not breakfast but I had to get it for you anyway. Do you know how mad they are at me for making them cook one of these at night? So I got you a--

After getting screamed at by her stepmother, CD went out and got the hair stuff then came back and did the laundry. By the time she was done, it was after midnight. She was too tired to work on her dress. She just though to herself that tomorrow, she will take a stand and not leave her room until the dress is done. So she went to bed. The next morning, she woke up with her stepsisters screaming her name.

CD- What is it now?
Stepsister 1- We need help getting everything done for tonight.
CD- Sorry twits, I got to work on my own dress for tonight.
Stepsister 2- Your first priority is to us. Don't make us call for mother again.
CD- I don't care. Today I am taking a stand.
Stepsister 2- We're warning you one last time. We're trying to be nice.
CD- HA! That's a laugh.

The two stepsister's just walked out of the room.

Stepsister 1- We'll get her later.
Stepsister 2- She is so not going to that ball!

CD spent the entire day working on her dress. The other two never thought she would get it done in time. They knocked on her door about 30 minutes before the ball.

Stepsister 2- Hey we need you to wash our hair but we're out of shampoo. You need to go buy some more. I guess you won't have time to finish your dress.
CD- You wish! I already finished it. I'll be back in 5 minutes with your shampoo. *Left*
Stepsister 1- She what!? She couldn't have finished it! We had her working all day.
Stepsister 2- Look around. See if you can find it. For all she has done for us, the least we could do it 'touch up' her dress.
Stepsister 1- You are soo EVIL! I love it!

CD was back in 5 minutes like she said she would and couldn't find her stepsister's anywhere. She knew that wasn't a good sign. She went up to her room and found them in her closet.

CD- What are you doing!?!
Stepsister 2- Calm down. We were just admiring your dress..but it was missing something so we fixed it.
CD- What--*Looked at her dress*

She saw her dress on the floor. It was all cut up and a pair of scissors were in her Stepsister's hand.

CD- You bitch!
Stepsister 2- I think it looks a lot better now don't you?

CD got so furious and punched her right in the face! Her stepsister started screaming and then tackled CD to the floor. By then, they were both all over each other, rolling on the floor. Her Stepmother heard the screming and came up to the room and found them on the floor.

Stepmother- ENOUGH! What is going on??
CD- That bit--
Stepmother- Hey!
CD- She cut my dress with the scissors.
Stepmother- Well I'm sure it was an accident..right Dear?
Stepsister 2- Oh right Mother.
Stepmother- There you go Cinderella, it was an accident. Nothing we can do about it now. You two go and get ready. CD- *Started crying* You will pay..all of you.

They all laughed and left the room.

CD- *To herself* Going to that ball was my only chance to leave this place. Now what am I going to do?

20 minutes later, the Stepmother and sisters were out of the house. It was 6:59PM and CD had to go meet Paul again. She was still crying but she left anyway.

~Hospital~

Nate looked at CD and she look funny. There were tears coming down her face. Nate paniced and call a nurse in.

Nate- Nurse!
Nurse- What is it Mr. Basso?
Nate- I don't know. She's not awake but she is crying. I don't know what's wrong with her.
Nurse- Calm down. What ever she is dreaming about in her coma is upsetting her a great deal that she is actually crying.
Nate- What do you mean?
Nurse- She is in different world right now. I'm sure she just misses you and all her friends.
Nate- But you're sure nothing is wrong?
Nurse- I'm positive. Go back into her.
Nate- Alright..

~Cinderella Story~

After meeting with Paul, she came back home and just sat in a chair and cried. She wanted to be at the ball because she had a feeling of who the Prince was going to be. She wanted to see him so badly. Now she wouldn't get her chance. Just then, she saw some light. She figured she was dead or something..but no. A person came out of that light..someone familiar. After everything cleared up, she knew who it was.

Godmother- Hello CD.
CD- Jinny? Is that really you?
Godmother- Yes it is! I'm here to help you.
CD- Am I finally getting out of here?
Godmother- Not at the moment..but if you really want to get out of here, you have to do it yourself.
CD- It's not that easy Jin. I wish it was.
Godmother- Hey in this place, you have to call me Godmother *Laughs* It's the rules. I've always hated this book.
CD- Good I'm not the only one. So how can you help me if you can't get me out?
Godmother- Well, I'm going to help you get to the ball.
CD- How?
Godmother- Boy you really didn't read this book did you??
CD- Nope!
Godmother- *Laughs* Well, I am magic. I am going to get you a dress, a ride, do your hair, everything.
CD- Can you really do that?
Godmother- Of course. I saw what the other two did to you and I knew I had to come and help.
CD- Thank you so much.
Godmother- Well let's see. To get you there, you'll need a carriage. Let's go into the back.
CD- Okay.

~Hospital~

CD was still crying for all this time. It was really scaring Nate. Just then, Jinny showed up.

Jinny- Hey buddy how is she?
Nate- She won't stop crying. I don't know what to do.
Jinny- What did the doctor say?
Nate- They're all telling me it's normal. This doesn't seem very normal to me. I feel so helpless. I want to help. I was to wrap my arms around her and tell her it's okay..I can't and it's driving me crazy.
Jinny- She'll be okay. I promise.

CD turned around and when she turned back, she looked down at herself wearing a baby blue sparkling dress. It was gorgeous. She had never seen a dress like it. Her hair was pinned up nicely and she had makeup on. She looked down to see herself wearing glass slippers. That was the only part of the book she remembered.

CD- Wow. I love the dress. I look beautiful..but do I have to wear these? They are so uncomfortable!
Godmother- I know but hey, if it's in the book, we got to do it.
CD- Fine. Well I guess I'd better go.
Godmother- But remember, you have to be back by midnight!
CD- What? It's 10:30 now. That's not much time.
Godmother- Then get going! *Laughs* Remember, no later.
CD- Okay. Thanks Jin.
Godmother- You're welcome. Now go.

After the ride to the palace, she got out of her carriage and walked into the ball room. She was at the top of the stairs and the prince saw her come in. He paused with who he was dancing with and left her. He walked over to the stairs and waited for her to come down. CD smiled. She knew it would be him. She knew it! It was Nate!

CD slowly walked down the staircase, just gazing into his eyes. He gazed right back in hers. It was love at first sight. When she finally got down the stairs, he took her hand into his and led her to the floor.

Prince- What's your name?
CD- It's CD.
Prince- I am Prince Nathaniel.
CD- Of course. Everyone knows who you are.
Prince- But yet I was never told about you. You are so incredibly beautiful.
CD- Thank you your highness.
Prince- Please..Nathaniel. Would you please dance with me?
CD- It would be an honor.

Nathaniel led her to the dancing area and waiting for them to play a song.

~Hospital~

On track one, it was a recording done by CD. When Nate first heard it, he cried because it had been so long since he heard CD's voice.

CD's Recording- Hi it's CD. Whoever is on this CD but me, turn it off! *Laughs* This CD is very personal and no one should be listening to it but me so Nate or Jinny, stop now because I know it's either of you two or BOTH of you listening. Thanks. Over and out. *Laughs some more*

Nate- I can't tell you how much I miss hearing her laugh.
Jinny- Tell me about it. Well let's hear the CD.

While Jinny and Nate were talking, there was a knock on the door. It was Kate, Magda, Raina, and Polly.

Kate- Hi. We know it's late but we wanted to see how she is doing today.
Nate- She's the same. I wish she would wake up. I don't know how much longer I will be able to look at her like this.
Kate- I know. I'm sure it will be soon. Has the doctor said anything?
Jinny- Just to be patient.
Magda- That's all I heard from our physician about Ben. It got me so angry. CD will be okay though.
Nate- I hope so.

After dancing for a couple hours, it was 11:50PM and CD and Nathaniel had gone out to the patio area to get a few moments alone together.

Prince- So where do you come from? I have never seen you before and trust me, I know everyone.
CD- Well I have been living here for a while *mummbles* so they tell me..Anyway, I just spend most of my time in the house.
Prince- Why? You need to get out here more. Listen, I know we have known each other for one night but I feel like I've known you my whole life.
CD- You have no idea..
Prince- So anyway, the reason my parents threw this ball was to find me a wife. So what I'm asking is..
CD- *Smiles* Yes?
Prince- Will you marry me?

Just before CD was to answer yes, she all of sudden disappeared and appeared in Paul's office.

CD- Paul what's going on? I was having a really good time for once!
Paul- Trust me I think you'll want to be here.
CD- Why so you can throw me into another story since this one finally got good?
Paul- Nope. You're going home!
CD- What?
Paul- You have been judged and they decided that you are too connected with home and especially Nate. You are free to go home if you'd like.
CD- I would love to go home!

~Hospital~

All of them were up talking not even looking at the time. Nate had CD's hand in his and Jinny had her other hand, as they always did since CD was brought there.

CD flickered open her eyes. At first she was a little confused but then she heard everyone screaming and realized she was back home.

Nate- CD! You're awake!!
Jinny- I'll go get a doctor.
CD- *weakly* What happened?
Kate- You were in a coma honey. You have been for almost 3 weeks.

Then Jinny came back in with the doctor.

Doctor Sid- Okay I need everyone to step outside while I examine Candace.
Nate- I'll be right outside! *kissed her forehead*

They all went out to the waiting room while the doctor took a look at CD.

Doctor Sid- How are you feeling?
CD- Tired.
Doctor Sid- Well you've been asleep for 3 weeks. You shouldn't be very tired. *tried to make her smile*
CD- I remember you. I saw you the other day about my headaches.
Doctor Sid- Very good. Your memory seems to be good.
CD- Am I okay?
Doctor Sid- You seem to be. We will have you up and walking tomorrow. I know it's late and you are tired. You woke up at exactly midnight! That's weird but funny.
CD- *Smiles* I know.
Doctor Sid- I'll let your friends in but I think only two should stay. You need your rest.
CD- Yes Doctor. Thank you.

In the waiting room..

Nate- Oh I am so happy she woke up.
Kate- We all are. *Smiles*
Polly- Do you think it will be too much of a shock to see me?
Jinny- I think it will be okay.
Nate- Just don't fight with her. *Laughs*

Doctor- *Walks out* You may go see Candace now.

Doctor- Well we will do some more tests tomorrow but I think she will make a full recovery.

So after talking with the doctor, they all left for CD's room. They all went in but Polly decided to wait until everyone else was done to go in there to talk to her privately.

Nate- Hi baby.
CD- *Still talking weakly* Hey.
Jinny- We sure missed you.
Magda- We sure did.
CD- Hey don't act all nice to me!
Raina- What are you talking about CD?
CD- You either. You were cruel to me.
Nate- Honey what are you talking about?
CD- Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I just had this dream..I guess it was a dream and I just forgot I was out of it.
Kate- Well we are going to let you rest.

Nate- *Only one left in the room* CD, there's someone here to see you.

Nate went out into the hallway and told Polly to go in. Nate went down to get some coffees.

CD- Mom? How did--

The next day, the doctor checked CD over and she was doing pretty well. The coma did not affect any part of her which was very good news. The doctor said she could leave in 4 days or so.

CD- What am I supposed to do here for 4 days!?
Nate- I know CD but we have to listen to the doctor.
CD- I feel fine though.
Nate- It's so good to hear you argue again. CD- You keep saying that. Except you say 'It's good to hear you laugh again' or is it 'talk again' or 'eat again' or--
Nate- Okay okay! *Laughs* But I mean it. You don't know how happy I am.
CD- You and me both. Can you get me something for lunch?
Nate- Sure what do you want?
CD- A grilled cheese sandwich.
Nate- Out of everything in this place, you want grilled cheese?
CD- Have you tasted the food here? The grilled cheese is the only thing that tastes somewhat normal.

CD- Ok.

After lunch was over, Jinny and the others came by to see how CD was doing.

Jinny- Hi CD.
CD- Hey everyone. I wish I knew you were coming. I look a mess!!
Kate- Seeing your eyes open is enough for me! *Laughs*

CD- I feel fine.
Raina- What did the doctor say?
Nate- She can leave in 4 days.

The 4 looong days went by and CD was just about to go crazy. She was all set and ready to go home.

Doctor Sid- Now just because there was nothing wrong with you after the coma you were in doesn't mean you can jump right back into work. For the first week, stay at home, no driving. You need to get some rest Candace ok?
CD- Alright but when can I start back to work?
Doctor Sid- I'd say 2 weeks is a safe bet.
CD- 2 weeks!?
Doctor Sid- Do you want to end up back in here?
CD- No no.
Doctor Sid- Then 2 weeks. Your partner is outside waiting for you. Be careful Candace and please take it easy.
CD- I will. Thank you.
Doctor Sid- You're welcome. And rest!
CD- I know! Sheesh *Laughs*
Nate- Come on. Thank you Doctor.
Doctor Sid- Bye. *Mumbles* She'll be back in here within a week.

Nate- So what are your instructions?
CD- Nate, I'm not a kitchen appliance!

CD- He said to just take it easy. I'll call the Captain when I get home.
Nate- So when did the Doctor say you can actually go back to work?
CD- Uh a week.

CD- A week yes. He said I recovered well and I could handle it.

Nate- Maybe someone should be staying with you.
CD- Nate you're acting like my mother.
Nate- No I'm being a partner. Partner's are supposed to look out for each other. Now I can stay with you for a few days just to make sure you are okay.

CD- Yep..but I'm usually right.

Nate helped her up into her apartment and got her things in. He set up a little spot for her on her couch for her to lie down.

Nate- Now you call me later okay? Let me know how you're doing. And if you need ANYTHING, call me please.
CD- I really don't want to bother you like that--
Nate- CD..
CD- Okay okay *Laughs* I'll call you later.
Nate- *Kissed her* Bye.
CD- Bye.

It was 6:30 at night and CD got up to look for something for dinner. She just realized that almost everything she had in the fridge had spoiled. She needed to get something from the market. CD was about to pick up the phone to call Nate but to call him and ask him to get up and go out for a little trip to the market? To her, that was a lot for someone else to do that she could simply do herself. She thought it would be okay to take one little trip to the market so she got her keys and got in her car.

So she got her keys and got in her car. CD started driving along and she was doing okay. All of a sudden, she just looked at the traffic lights that were ahead and got very dizzy. Accidentally, she turned the wheel off of the road and drove right into the side of some parked cars and then into a tree very hard, knocking herself unconsious. People who saw this happen quickly called 9-1-1. They went over to see if she was alright. Seeing that she was knocked out, they didn't move her incase her neck was broken. They waited for help to arrive. 15 minutes later, the Paramedics and police officers arrived.

Paramedic 1- What happened here?
Woman- A woman crahsed her car into a tree! She's unconsious. You have to help her quick!
Paramedci 1- How long ago did this happen?
Woman- 15 minutes.
Paramedic 2- I got a pulse. We got to get her out of here.

Driving up the same street was Jinny who saw all the commotion and decided to pull over and help so she can clear it all up fast and go home.

Jinny- Hey guys. Wha's going on?
Paramedic 1- Woman crahsed her car. We still have a pulse but we got to get her out before we don't.
Jinny- Let me help. *Walked over* Oh god. CD! She's a police Inspector at Felony Division. Come on quick!!

After 5 minutes, they got her out and CD began to come around a little.

CD- *moaning*
Jinny- CD, can you hear me?
CD- Jinny?
Jinny- You crashed your car. We're taking you to the hospital but you appear to have a couple of bruises is all.
CD- I'm sorry.
Jinny- It's ok. I'll ride with you. Want me to call Nate when we get there?
CD- *Nodded*
Jinny- Okay. It's gonna be ok.

They got to the hospital and when the call came in that a cop was coming in, Doctor Sid happened to be there and heard it come in and had a feeling it was CD and decided to stick around. The ER Doctor, Dr. Daniels, was waiting for them.

Doctor Daniels- What do you got?
Paramedic- 34 (guessing) year old female crashed her car into a tree. BP 140/92. Pulse is 120.......

While the Doctors did their thing, Jinny had to wait in the waiting room and she called Nate.

Nate- *Phone rang* Hello?
Jinny- Hey it's Jinny.
Nate- What's wrong?
Jinny- What?
Nate- I know that tone in your voice what's wrong?
Jinny- Nate, CD's in the hospital.
Nate- Wait..we did this part already.
Jinny- She went driving and crashed her car into a tree. I don't know exactly what happened but she's going to be okay. She wants you.
Nate- County General?
Jinny- Yeah.
Nate- I'll be right there.
Jinny- Okay bye. *Hangs up*
Nate- Oh CD..

After a little bit, Doctor Sid noticed Jinny in the waiting room and went to talk to her.

Doctor Sid- Hi. Jinny right?
Jinny- Yes. Doctor Sid. Is CD alright?
Doctor Sid- I'm not sure I didn't work on CD. I'm waiting as well. They'r working on her now. What happened?
Jinny- I don't really know. She was driving her car and I guess lost control and crashed into a tree.
Doctor Sid- She's a stubborn one she is. I told her not to drive for a week and to rest.
Jinny- Well she's stubborn alright.

Then Nate ran in.

Nate- Jinny..
Jinny- Hi. You remember Doctor Sid.
Nate- It's been so long since I have seen you....
Doctor Sid- Haha yeah.
Nate- How is she?
Doctor Sid- They're working on her now but let me see if I can find out anything. *Leaves*
Nate- So she called you?
Jinny- Oh no. I was driving and I saw the wreck. I didn't know it was her though.
Nate- I told her call me if she needed anything. Why would she do this.
Jinny- You know how she is.
Nate- That's no excuse. She can't risk her life for stubborness.
Jinny- You men love that word tonight.
Nate- What?
Doctor Sid- *Walked in* They're done. You can go in.
Jinny- How is CD?
Doctor Sid- She is going to be very sore and she has a broken rib but she is ok.
Nate- Thank goodness.

CD's room..

Jinny- Hey you..
CD- Hi.
Nate- Hi sweetie.
CD- Oh Nate I am so sorry.
Nate- It's okay CD. I'm just confused. Why didn't you call me?
CD- It was just a little trip to the market. I had nothing for dinner since all my food spoiled. I didn't think it would hurt anything but then I got dizzy and after that I woke up on the pavement and Jinny was there. Doctor Sid- *Walked in* Hi Candace.
CD- Uh oh.
Jinny- I'll wait outside. *Leaves*
Doctor Sid- Now I thought we were clear.
CD- Well as I was just explaining to them--
Doctor Sid- Candace, you have just come out of a coma. You are not healed and in NO condition to drive. If I have to keep you here the remainding two weeks until you can go back to work, that's what I'll do.
Nate- Two weeks?
Doctor Sid- Yeah. Why what did Candace tell you?
Nate- She told me..three weeks.
CD- *Looked at him*
Doctor Sid- Wow. Well I will keep you in here if I have to.
Nate- I don't think that will be necessary because she's moving in with me.
CD- Nate I told you before I don't want to stay--
Nate- No you didn't hear me. CD, will you move in with me?

CD- What if it doesn't work out?
Nate- Then..it doesn't. What can you do? But I have a feeling it will and I want to take the risk.
CD- I want that too.
Nate- Really!?
CD- Yeah!
Nate- WHOPEEE!!

Nate ran out into the hallway of the Emergency room and screamed 'SHE SAID YES! SHE'LL MOVE IN WITH ME!' Doctor Sid heard and smiled. Jinny of course had no idea what he was talking about and laughed.

CD- NATE!!!
Nate- *Poked his head in the door* Yes?
CD- I don't mean to sound rude but stop telling everyone and get the hell back in here!
Nate- Oh sorry. I got a little excited.
CD- *Smiled* I can see that.
Jinny- *Comes in* Knock knock.
CD- Hey.
Jinny- Um..is there a reason your partner acted like a psycho out there? *Laughs*

CD- Yup. I can't believe it but I'm moving in with him.

So after getting lectured from both Doctors and the Captain, she was able to go home but she had to rest for two weeks. She whined but Nate put up with it, just as long as she gave in at the end which she really had no choice. Nate drove CD from the hospital to her place since CD's car was wrecked. When they got there, they talked.

Nate- So, should I bring some things over here or should you bring your things over my place?
CD- I'm not sure.
Nate- See? We're having fun already. *Laughs* Well since it's kinda hard for you to move around, I think it will be easier for me to move my things here.
CD- Are you sure?
Nate- Yes. Plus you're place is closer to the station and it's neater.
CD- True. So when should we do all of this?
Nate- Well I'll go home and bring clothes over here for now and then when you're better we'll do the real moving.
CD- Sounds good.

After making all the arrangements, Nate ran back to his place and got some clothes. Then he ran to the supermarket to get them some dinner.

Nate- Hey honey I'm home!!
CD- Okay you EVER say that again, I'm gonna have to shoot you.
Nate- Funny.
CD- So what did you get for dinner?
Nate- I got us some macaroni and cheese.
CD- Say you didn't..
Nate- I didn't. I got us some steaks.
CD- Much better. Can you cook?
Nate- Of course I can!
CD- I thought you said real men don't cook.

He held up the box.

Nate- Instant steaks. They'll be ready 3 minutes.
CD- Amazing..*rolls her eyes*

After dinner they watched a movie. They were arguing cause CD wanted to watch Love Story and Nate wanted to watch Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. They compromised on The Notebook. After the movie, Nate helped CD into the bedroom.

Nate- So how are we going to do the sleeping arrangements? I'm afraid to hurt you. I know how sore you are. Should I sleep on the sofa?
CD- Well, if you promise not to punch or kick me in the middle of the night, you can sleep in the bed with me.
Nate- You're sure?
CD- Positive.
Nate- Absolu--
CD- Do you want me to change my mind?? *Giggles*
Nate- No no that's ok.

After they got changed, they were both nervous, of course but got into bed. Nate shut off the light. CD could tell he was very nervous. So she scooted up next to him and gave him a kiss.

CD- I love you.
Nate- I love you too.

She draped her arm over him and they both fell asleep.

Everyone came over periodically to check on CD, especially Jinny. She couldn't lose another person in her life. The two of them had become extremely close since this had happened. Finally, her time was up. Her doctor told her it was okay to go back to work. It was the night before she started back and Nate and CD are having dinner. CD didn't feel like cooking and she also didn't feel like smelling smoke from when Nate burned the dinners. They had TV dinners that night.

Nate- CD, there's no need to be nervous.
CD- Oh yes there is. I'm extremely nervous. What if I crash something again? Last time I was in that station, I was seeing characters from a kids book..
Nate- What?
CD- Nevermind. I just don't want to hurt anyone.
Nate- Honey you're not going to. Kate is going to work real slow with you and Jinny will be there.
CD- Thanks. You know you could have went into the psychiatry line of work. *Laughs*
Nate- Ha no thanks. I like where I'm at now. *Put his arms around CD* It'll be fine.

So they ate dinner, watched TV, and went to bed. 6:30AM came by so fast. CD turned off the alarm clock and turned over to kiss Nate good morning..only he wasn't there. She got worried. She said his name loudly but got no reply. She got out of bed and went out to the kitchen to find him making eggs and bacon. She smiled and looked at the table. He had it all set with a bouquet of roses. She went over to him and put her arms around him. He was startled at first but knew it was her.

Nate- Good morning sleepy head!
CD- How long have you been up?
Nate- An hour or so.
CD- Nate, this looks wonderful. I can't believe you did this for me.
Nate- Anything for you.
CD- *She kissed him* Oh my god!
Nate- What?!
CD- You're not burning the eggs! I'm so proud of you.
Nate- Ah, shut up and sit down. You're disturbing me. *Made a face*
CD- Excuse me Mr Rogers. I'll go sit down.

After enjoying a delightful breakfast, CD got dressed, slowly, and was finally ready for work.

Nate- CD, we got to go.

her feel better. Then they got on the elevator and CD got that nervous feeling in her stomach that she hated. They got to the floor of the Felony Division and they walked
towards it. They stopped outside the door and Nate put his hand on her shoulder.

Nate- You sure you're ok?
CD- Yep. I just want this day to be over with.
Nate- Don't be nervous. It'll be fine.
CD- *Took a deep breath* Ok. Let's go.

Nate gave CD a quick kiss and they went in. She saw a banner hanging up saying 'Welcome Back CD!' She then saw a big cake. She looked at Nate who smiled and then
people came out from everywhere screaming 'SURPRISE!' CD was in shock. Jinny and Kate came over to her and hugged her.

Kate- Welcome back CD.
CD- It feels good to be back.
Jinny- How are you feeling?
CD- I'm fine. Thank you all for this surprise.
Kate- Well you deserved it. It's good to have you back.

CD and Nate worked on simple assignments for the day. Finally it was 5:00 and time to go home.

Nate- You ready to go?
CD- Go where?
Nate- Home. It's 5:00.
CD- Already? Wow that was fast.
Nate- Now see today wasn't so bad was it?
CD- No it wasn't. I think it's all going to be okay now.
Nate- Well I won't say I told you so. *Smirks*

CD- You know, you are one weird guy I ended up with.

She started to eat the potato. She took a bite and felt something weird in her mouth. She thought maybe Nate left a lump in it so she just ate it and didn't say anything. But it was hurting as she was sawllowing. All of a sudden she couldn't breath. She motioned for Nate.

Nate- CD this is a very important thign I need to ask you.
CD- *Barely getting out the word* Nate...
Nate- I've thought long and hard about this.
CD- *Again* Naaate..
Nate- At first I was afraid of rejection but--
CD- *Screamed as best she could* NAAAATE!
Nate- Oh my god!

Nate got up and did the heimlich on CD. The ring finally came up. After a few coughs, CD had to laugh.

CD- Are you deaf or just have AADD? *Laughs* I WAS CHOKING and you were talking about rejection!
Nate- *Laughs* I'm sorry. I got caught up in the moment.
CD- What the hell was I choking on anyway.
Nate- *Wiped off the ring and placed it on her finger* As I was saying before, I have thought long and hard about this and well..marry me?
CD- *Paused and finally spoke* So you had to get a nice big ring to go down my throat didn't ya? *Laughs*
Nate- Well of course! Well?
CD- And yes Nathan Basso, I will marry you.
Nate- Ahh! YES!

He picked her up and spun her around. They finally kissed.

Raina- *Grabs CD's hand* THIS! I can spot an engaged person a mile away!

Out in the station..

Raina- Everyone! I--CD and Nate have something to tell us..
Magda- What is it?
Nate- Last night, I asked CD to be my wife, almost killing her in the process *Giggles* but she accepted me anyway.
Jinny- That's great you guys!
CD- Stay here. I'll go talk to Captain now that everyone knows.
Nate- Are you sure you don't want me to go with you.
CD- I can handle it. I'll be right back.
Nate- Ok.

CD went into Kate's office, hoping not to hear what she thinks she will.

CD- Can I come in?
Kate- Of course. What can I do for you?
CD- Well I needed to talk to you. See, Nate..Nate..
Kate- Nate what?
CD- He asked me to marry him.
Kate- CD that's great!
CD- Really?
Kate- Well you did accept right?
CD- Yeah but..won't that mean we'll have to be split up.
Kate- I'm afraid so. I had to talk him really hard into keeping you two together when you were roomates. Marriage I don't know but I will try.
CD- Thanks.

The day went slowly for CD. She was so worried that Kate would have to split them up. It was 4:50PM and they were getting ready to wrap up their work when Kate came out of her office and called them in.

Kate- CD, Nate, my office.

Nate and CD walked into the her office. They were so scared about what they were about to hear.

Kate- Well I spoke with the chief and he said that neither of you have to leave the Felony Division.
CD- Oh that's great!
Kate- But you aren't to be partners anymore.

CD frowned but looked over at Nate to see what he wanted to do.

Nate- Who would we be partnered with?
Kate- Well I was thinking Nate with Raina and CD with Jinny. I'm thinking about having Magda by herself since she hasn't been getting a long with anyone lately.

Again CD looked at Nate. CD really wanted them to be partners but she does not want to leave The Division. It was like a medium to her but she didn't know what Nate was thinking.

Nate- Captain, if it's alright with CD, then it's alright with me.
CD- *Glares at Nate* It's alright with me.
Kate- Good. You will start with your new partners tomorrow morning.

CD and Nate get up to leave.

Kate- Guys..
CD- Yeah?
Kate- Congratulations.
Nate- Thanks Cap'n.

After they left, Kate called Jinny and Magda into her office. CD and Nate didn't want to be around chancing that Magda would explode. In the locker room, CD was getting
ready to leave and couldn't stop thinking 'Was this the right decision'. She felt it was and left to meet Nate outside. When they got home, they talked about it.

Nate- Did we do the right thing?
CD- I think so.
Nate- You seem unsure.
CD- Well I wanted to stay together but I didn't want either of us to leave.
Nate- Well I guess this was all we could do. We still got lunch breaks. *Winked at her*
CD- *Laughed* Is that all you think about?
Nate- Well..yeah!

The next morning, everyone was nervous. Magda was of course upset but she got over it. She knew there was nothing she can do about it. Jinny wasn’t mad at all with being partnered with CD and Raina was like a little kid cause she finally got a partner. Kate looked around the room seeing everyone disorganized and gave them their cases. CD and Jinny got to work on a murder case while Nate and Raina worked on an assault of a judge. Magda investigated deadbeats all day. It felt like hours and hours but finally lunch time came. They all went to the anchorside.

CD- Oh my god I missed you so much
Nate- Me too. I like Raina a lot but she talks too much on cases. *Laughs*
CD- Yeah I like Jinny but it’s not the same with you.
Nate- Aw that’s sweet.

They started kissing but everyone interrupted.

Raina- Hey We’re eating here.
Jinny- Oh grow up Raina. *They all laughed*
Magda- So did you guys set a date yet?
CD- We haven’t really thought out the details yet.
Nate- They’re right maybe we should start. You know that’s what everyone is going to ask when they see your ring.
CD- *Looks at her hand* True. Well we can discuss it tonight.
Magda- What did your parents say when you told them?
CD- Uhh..well I haven’t told my mother yet.
Nate- You didn’t?
CD- Well I wanted to find the right time to tell them. It’s not something I can just do over the phone.
Nate- I guess.
CD- Did you tell your family yet?
Nate- Uhh..
CD- I thought so.
Nate- Well we haven’t really been on the best terms. I did sort of mention it to my sister. It’s not something I can just do over the phone
CD- See So don’t make me feel guilty. *Grinned*
Nate- I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry.
CD- I’m sorry too. *They kissed again*
Raina- Is it going to be like this everyday at lunch? *Everyone laughs*

CD and Nate decided to have each others parents over for dinner. That way they can both tell them at the same time. It was about 8:00 and the doorbell ran. It was CD’s mother.

Nate- Hi Ms. Dankow.
Polly- Nice to see you again. And please, it’s Polly.
Nate- Okay. *Smiles*
CD- Hi Mom.
Polly- Wow honey, you’re as good as new.
CD- Thanks Mom. Would you like a drink?
Polly- Sure some iced tea would be great.
Nate- I’ll go get it.
CD- Thanks.
Polly- So you’re doing good then?
CD- Never better.
Polly- That’s great.

The doorbell rang and it was Nate’s parents.

Nate- Hi Mom, Dad.
NM- Hi sweetheart.
ND- Son.
CD- Hi Mr and Mrs. Basso. I am CD.
NM- CD?
CD- Candace.
NM- Nice to meet you.
ND- I’m Richard, this is Susan.
CD- This is my mother Polly.
Susan- Nice to meet you.
Polly- You too.
CD- Okay why don’t we all sit down to dinner.

They all went to the dining room and had some dinner. It was awfully quiet so Nate looked at CD. CD knew what he meant and nodded. Nate stood up and got everyone’s attention.

Nate- Excuse me but I have an announcement to make. As you know, CD and I have been living together for a little while and I have come to the conclusion that I can’t live one more moment without CD. That is why we have decided to get married.

CD was happy to see a smile on her mother’s face but was very disappointed when Nate’s mother and father had absolutely no expression at all.

Polly- Oh I am so happy for you too!
Nate- Thanks Polly. Mom, Dad?
Richard- I think we should be going. Come on Susan.

Nate went over near the door to talk to them without CD hearing. CD and her Mom just sat at the table.

Nate- What is the matter with you two?
Richard- We raised you right. You could do so much better.

AWESOME! I love the tension at the end. His parents are wierd. But it's nice that you threw in a little disagreement instead of all happy go lucky. That and the fact that it gives Nate a chance to defend CD, which ALWAYS makes him sexy....er!!!!

Kate- Cases!
CD- *Thinking* ‘Thank god!!’
Raina- At lunch?
CD- ….ok.

For the rest of the day, Raina had been bugging CD about the wedding. They haven’t even set a date yet, which made Raina aggravated. CD and Nate came home and both sat on the couch and sighed.

Nate- What’s wrong?
CD- Nothing why?
Nate- You sighed.
CD- Did not.
Nate Did too.
CD- Well you sighed too.
Nate- Did not.
CD- Did too.
Nate- How much did they bug you about the wedding?
CD- Oh gosh. Makes me wanna elope. *Laughed*

Nate had this great idea. Why didn’t they elope? They would be married so much sooner. Nobody to harass them. It would be great.

Nate- Why don’t we?
CD- What?
Nate- Elope.
CD- Are you out of your mind?
Nate- What, it’ll be great. No one hassling us about what to do with OUR wedding.
CD- But my mom would hate it. She only has one daughter and not to be there at their own wedding? She would be heartbroken.
Nate- Okay, how about we each invite one person, then we both invite one other one ok?

CD then went over to her mothers to tell her about eloping.

The next day, CD took the day off to get her hair and nails done. Nate went to work cause he wasn’t allowed to see the bride anyway. They decided to tell everyone else after they are married, do no one can talk them out of it. It was 3:30 and Nate left for the day.

Nate- Well I’m off Captain.
Kate- *Grins* Okay.
Raina- Where are you going?
Nate- Home.
Raina- Why?
Nate- Cause I wanna.
Raina- What are you doing there?

Raina- Why isn’t CD at work today?

They were in the Chapel of Love and CD was walking down the isle in a beautiful white dress. Jinny stood up next to CD. Kate and Polly stood behind them.

CD- Take thee Nathan Basso..
Nate- Take thee Candace DeLorenzo..
CD- To be my lawfully..
Nate- To be my lawfully..
CD- Wedded husband.
Nate- Wedded wife.
Priest- I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.

They looked at each other and smiled.

CD- I love you.
Nate- I love you. *They kissed* *Everyone clapped*

Jinny walked up to her and gave CD a big hug.

Jinny- I am so happy for you.

CD and Nate ran out the door and into a limo which took them to the airport. Kate, Jinny, and Polly followed. They were going to Bahamas for their honeymoon.

Kate- We’re going to miss you! Take all the time you want.
CD- I think we’ll be gone for a week.
Jinny- You just enjoy yourselves!

They waved to them and got on the plane. They mostly slept along the way, with CD’s head leaning on Nate’s, same as the day they had the full moon case. The plane shook a little which woke CD up. She got up to go to the bathroom and accidentally bumped Nate’s leg.

CD- I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.
Nate- Where are ya going?
CD- Just to the bathroom, silly. I’ll be right back.

As she was leaving her cell phone rang. Nate answered it.
Receptionist- May I speak to Candace DeLorenzo?
Nate- She’s not here at the moment. Who is this?
Receptionist- This is the receptionist at County. I am confirming Candace’s surgery scheduled for the 13th.
Nate- Surgery??

CD- Thinking of me no doubt. *Winks*
Nate- As a matter of fact yes.

CD notices how serious he was when he said that, she knew something was up.

CD- Okay what’s going on?
Nate- Alright. Are you sick?
CD- No.
Nate- Are you trying to make yourself look better?
CD- No.
Nate- Are you dying??
CD- NO! What is this all about?
Nate- You got a call on your cell confirming surgery.
CD- Oh…that.
Nate- OH THAT? That’s what you’re going to say to me??
Flight Attendant- I’m sorry, Sir but you’re going to have to lower your voice. You’re disturbing the other passengers.
Nate- I’m sorry. I will lower my voice.
Flight Attendant- Thank you.
CD- Nate, yes it’s true. I am having surgery but not the kind you think.
Nate- Well I’m thinking that you go under the knife! Isn’t that what you’re talking about?
CD- I’m going to have my tubes untied.
Nate- Huh?
CD- So we can start trying for kids. It was supposed to be a surprise. You really hate them that much don’t you?
Nate- Oh CD, I’m so happy! You really want to have kids with me?
CD- Well duh! I married you didn’t I?
Nate- CD! WE’RE GONNA TRY FOR KIDS!
CD- Nate! Don’t scream!
Nate pulled her into a deep kiss and they started getting a little carried away.

Flight Attendant- We don’t allow that either Sir…

The rest of the honeymoon, they had fun for themselves. Then on the 12th, they flew back home to San Francisco and spent their first night in their apartment together as a married couple. The next day was the day of the surgery. They arrived at the hospital and she was about to be wheeled into the operating room. It was just CD and Nate there, they didn't tell anyone about it.

Nate- I love you.
CD- I love you more.
Nate- I'll be right here when you wake up.
CD- I love you.
Nate- *Laughs* I love you more. *Left*
Anesthesiologist- Miss DeLorenzo..
CD- Mrs. Basso.
Anesthesiologist- I'm sorry. It says on your chart that you went into a coma earlier this year.
CD- Yes.
Anesthesiologist- Well I got to be honest with you, with this anesthesia, it's possible you could lapse into another coma.
CD- Are you serious?
Anesthesiologist- Would you still like the surgery?
CD- Will it matter when ever I have this done? Will it always be a possibility.
Anesthesiologist- *Thinks* Probably more sooner than later.
CD- Let's do it now. I'll risk it.
Anesthesiologist- Okay just sign here.
CD- *Signs*
Anesthesiologist- Okay, now you're going to start to feel sleepy a few minutes after I inject you.
CD- Okay.

Minutes later, CD drifted off to sleep. Next thing she knew, she was laying in a hospital bed with Nate right next to her holding her hand.

CD- Nate.
Nate- Hi honey.
CD- I didn't go into a coma.
Nate- No you're fine...well almost fine.
CD- What?
Doctor- Candace you're awake.
CD- Am I okay? Did the surgery go okay?
Doctor- Surgery went fine. There was only one minor problem.
CD- What?
Doctor- We got your procedure mixed up with someone elses. a 60 year old woman ended up getting her tubes untied. Imagine our surprise when we got in there. And you ended up with her surgery.
CD- Tell me you didn't do a histerectomy, please.
Doctor- No we didn't. You had breast implants. Very large breast implants.

CD looked down at her chest and couldn't believe it! :eek:

CD- Oh my god!
Doctor- It's not that bad.
CD- It's not that bad?? IT'S NOT THAT BAD? I look like I have two cone heads sitting on my chest!
Nate- I like it!
CD- *Glares*

CD came up from bed screaming, then in pain realizing she got up too fast, and it hurt badly! Nate saw her and came up next to her.

Nate- CD, are you awake?
CD- Yes. *Puts hands on chest* Ah, it was just a dream. Am I okay? I can't see you.
Nate- Well I'm not surprised.
CD- You sound funny. What's going on?
Nate- Let me go get your new doctor.
CD- New? What happened to my doctor?
Nate- He died waiting for you to wake up.
CD- What? *Blinks eyes* Nate, is that you? You're....
Nate- 65 years old...and I still look good. *Pats own butt* If I do say so myself.
CD- I've been in a coma for 30 years?
Nate- Yep. And I've been right here by your side. And I'll never *starts coughing* leave your side.
CD- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Nate- CD wake up.
CD- *Jumps* Nate?
Nate- You're awake!
CD- OH god it really happened!
Nate- What honey?
CD- I've been in a coma for 30 years.
Nate- *:lol:* No no, you just had surgery remember? You're in the recovery room.
CD- Oh. *Looks around* Did they do the right surgery? I don't have an extra nipple or three eyes do I?
Nate- Uh, CD you're scaring me.
CD- I had a dream that I was dreaming! They were both scary.
Nate- Well they were dreams and they're over. You're fine and you did beautifully.
CD- Thank god. I can have babies?
Nate- We'll try as soon as you get out of here. *Winks*
CD- *Laughs* You devil.

I know it's been a while since I posted! :( I will be writing on this and all my fics tonight and hopefully more will be up tonight, if not tomorrow! :D Sit tight. ;)

CD recovered from the surgery fine and they started trying to have a baby.

CD- It’s been three months. Why am I not pregnant?
Nate- CD, you know things like this take time.
CD- But I’m late Nate. I really thought this was it. 2 pregnancy tests came back negative.
Nate- You’re probably just stressed.
CD- *Sighs* You’re probably right. Let’s get some sleep.

The next day, they went to work. They went to a case where a pregnant woman was murdered and the baby was stolen.

Police Officer- It looks like her throat was cut and she bled to death. Then a C-Section was done to get the baby out.
CD- Oh god.
Nate- Estimated time of death?
Police Officer- Approximately 9:00pm. Maybe a little later. That’s all we can tell for now.
CD- Thank you Officer, we’ll take it from here.
Police Officer- Okay. *Left*
CD- We’ve got to find that baby.
Nate- We will.
Back at The Division, CD, Nate, Jinny, and Magda were put on the case. No calls were made to the woman’s house or her family for a ransom, so they assumed the woman was planning on keeping the baby. They went on TV, they did whatever they could to get the baby back. One afternoon, they got a call.

CD- DeLorenzo.
Woman- Hi I own a convenient store and this woman came in with a newborn, sounded like the kidnapping on TV. The baby looks sick I think you need to talk to her.
CD- Did you get a good look at the baby and the woman?
Woman- Yes I did.
CD- If you brought in a sketch artist, could you help them?
Woman- I sure can.
