Whatever happen to Slappy White you know Melvin? Melvin was Fred's good old buddy in the first few episodes and then Bubba & Grady came along and no more Melvin..... Why is that?

I guess the Producers felt that character wasn't working out. I think Fred's friend after Melvin was Bubba.

One thing I noticed about the Melvin character is had no personality. Most of his lines were mainly agreeing with Fred like, "That's right Fred, Yeah Fred." So I'm guessing the producers wanted someone who could carry and deliver punchlines.

I guess I would have to agree with you on that. Later

He did have a few classic lines of his own though. Don't leave that out. He was funny IMO. I loved'em
