barwars 09-12-2004, 10:25 AM This is a post for everyone to suggest sites or stores that have certain (or all) TVDVDs for great prices.
For example....
This week all TVDVDs are 25% off at Media Play.
spunkygirl 09-12-2004, 12:19 PM I've been told Costco has great prices for TVDVDs.
Also Target, Meijer, WalMart aren't bad either :)
vashti1999 09-13-2004, 08:48 PM Dvdempire.com has a $10 off deal when you buy two Warner Bros. titles, tv-dvd sets included. Limited time only, I'm not sure when it ends.
dawsongirl 09-13-2004, 11:32 PM In comparing www.deepdiscountdvd.com to www.amazon.com , sometimes you can get a set a lot cheaper at DDD. Sometimes it's only like a dollar difference.
But at amazon, you have to go over $25 to get free shipping, whereas at DDD, you don't ever have to pay if you don't want to.
Ant-Lox 09-14-2004, 11:26 AM Most of the TVDVD's were 25% off at Suncoast & Sam Goody's
But I buy most of my TVDVD's at FYE, they have the cheapest prices to me...
My last three good deals were at Deep Discount DVD and Target.
DDD has
"Kingpin" for $7.11
and
"Sledge Hammer!" season 1 for $23.99
While Target had "The Simple Life" season 1 on their $5.50 shelf.
DDD is also currently giving out "grab bag" gifts on selected Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment DVDs (including "Mad About You," "Married... with Children" and "Dawson's Creek"). I loathe CTHE like hell, but that sold me.
vashti1999 10-12-2004, 09:43 PM I don't know if this is real or a hoax, but it looks like amazon.com has a limited time deal where you can get the first season sets of Buffy, 24, Futurama, the Simpsons, Angel and King of The Hill for only $15 each. Here. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/543459/slickdeals/103-5150536-3956651)
I definitely recommend everyone picking up 24 and tell me if that isn't a great show.

oooooh, thanks! I may just break and get Futurama.
You guys should definately check out Roswell season 1 for that price, Buffy season 1 I wouldn't recommend so much because the first year is not representative of the series IMO.

Forgot to mention Roswell. Looking over the list, I'd most likely get the Simpsons and blind buy Roswell. At 15 bucks I'm definitely tempted.

I want to point out they don't list ILC for $14.99. They have that one for $27.99. Looks like that's their regular 30% off price.

well, Roswell is defintely a genre-defying show. There are moments where it's just a drama, and then other moments where it's really sci-fi, and others where it's a thriller, and there's a few instances of comedy as well. I didn't get into the show until a friend forced me to watch it, and I immediately fell in love with it. The show had a great ensemble IMO. For $14.99, if you dislike it, you could sell it to a used place and recoup just about all that.

Okay than, maybe just Futurama.
Dean Winchester 10-12-2004, 10:41 PM this would've been the perfect time to put X-Files season 1 cheap :( I want those DVD's, but not at $99, I won't pay more than $50 shipping included for those.

I just did it, placed an order for Roswell. If I end up not liking it, I'm sending you the bill. I didn't really want the Simpsons, so I passed on that and just went with Roswell.

I have faith that you'll like it since you like high school programs. The only thing that sucks is, you'll wish it went on more than 61 episodes. But I suppose 3 seasons was good enough because the series ended with high school graduation (even tho Jason Behr was already about 29 years old by then). It was a great show but by the last season, none of them looked like high school students.

Some good deals :)
Ant-Lox 10-13-2004, 01:59 AM Deep Discount DVD is the greatest thing ever invented...I dont like using a credit card online, so this is so much better...
I'm getting Buffy Season 1 for about $27, I've never seen Buffy Before but it sounds like a good show. and I can like anything...
Dean Winchester 10-13-2004, 03:19 PM as much as I love Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I absolutely do not recommend season one except for those who are already huge fans of the series. Outside of the two part premiere, in my opinion, the show as we know it doesn't "start" until episode 15 (third episode of season 2), "School Hard", in which Spike enters the series. I like a lot of season 1, but if you're not already a fan of the series, you won't care to much for it, because the first season is so much different than seasons 2-7

Oh..lol...its only a few episodes in season 1, so I'll be into the second season in no time....

you might like season 1, it's just that the rest of the series is so much different. The first season mostly plays up making fun of typical horror/monster movie cliches, like there's an evil demonic robot, and a witch (ironically enough the show began to embrace the craft down the road when Willow becomes a witch), teachers who are giant insects, etc..
The first season of Buffy is very fun, but it is such a different program than the one from seasons 2-7.
I'd rank the seasons this way.
6, 2, 3, 5, 4, 7, 1
they're all good but season five is really best enjoyed when depressed, as Buffy dealt with her boyfriend breaking up with her, the death of her mother from a brain tumor, and eventually then her own mortality at the end of the season (but of course you know since it lasted 2 more seasons she doesn't stay dead long, lol)

vashti1999 11-20-2004, 03:02 PM Found these on a website, not sure how true this is. I guess we'll find out on Friday, but these are some day after Thanksgiving sales for some tv on dvd sets. Possibly early bird specials. If all of this turns out to be bogus, I apologize in advance for posting it. If it's all true, I'll be doing some shopping on Friday.

you paid $65 for BTTF? where? I remember when the box set came out, it was around $35-40 most places around here. I couldn't imagine BTTF for $65 unless it was an ultra-limited edition box set ala Seinfeld that included bonus goodies.

Anyway, my latest sweet deal was MacGyver S1 for 28 bucks...There's like 25 or 26 episodes w/ six discs in this one, I think. Beats out what I paid for Freaks & Geeks last year - 30 bucks for 18 episodes.

so if anyone out there likes Punky and hasn't gotten around to getting the DVD, I'd say now is the time

Dean Winchester 04-28-2005, 10:36 AM if anyone doesn't have season 1 of Three's Company yet, DeepDiscountDVD.com has it for $5.99.
Even tho I find it funny that of all the DVD titles out there that people have affordability issues with (ala HBO/Showtime shows, The X-Files, Star Trek, etc...), they pick TC season 1 as the title to slash half price, it was never expensive to begin with, lol.
Moonlit_Suburb 04-28-2005, 11:03 PM They also have the first seasons of NYPD Blue, King of the Hill, Harsh Realm, and the best-of set of Ally McBeal for this price.
They also have Buffy: S1, I believe...
Dean Winchester 05-14-2005, 07:49 PM if anybody likes The X-Files, you know how expensive those DVD's are. However, Best Buy has temporarily price-dropped all nine seasons of the series from $96.99 to $49.99, running through the 4th of July. This is definately worth it because I have been waiting for these DVD's to be price-dropped for quite awhile. And since the sale runs until July, there's plenty of time to stock up, I picked up 1 and 2, and will try to get 3-5 as well. The post-Duchovney seasons I can find used at any time, so it's not as big a deal to me.
Chelsea 05-14-2005, 09:57 PM ou think $96.99 for the X-Files is bad?
Star Trek sets ALSO go for $100/pop. 7 seasons each of TNG, DS9, and VOY. 3 Seasons of TOS. Plus, when completely released, 4 seasons of Enterprise. 28 season. $2800.
Making this on-topic: Complete seasons of each of the first 4 Trek's (TNG, DS9, VOY, TOS) in Region-Free Asian Releases (with english as an audio track on all episodes/features) can be found on Ebay for $100/Complete SERIES. $400 vs. $2400 (Without Enterprise)
Anyway, anyone looking to buy an X-Files set should probably be doing it now - Lest they have to pay twice as much.
robyrob 05-20-2005, 06:37 PM Amazon has over 90 sets discounted 35-50% !!!

I have all the DVD's listed above...and who the hell at Amazon put this list together? Season 1 of Cheers was NOT in the 90's, it was in 1982. WAY off.

the list is pretty messed up. Roswell (which premiered in October 1999) is listed as a 90's show, even tho the lions share of it's run was this decade, same with That 70's Show which premiered in 1998 but has run most of it's run this decade. Yet the first season of South Park was back in 1997, and that's considered "current".

Dean Winchester 08-27-2005, 03:28 PM for the Queer As Folk fans here, season 1 has officially been reduced from $119.99 list to $49.99, on sale at Circuit City this week for $39.99. Season 2 will be price-dropped in October and subsequent seasons will follow. I don't know if season 5, the final season coming to DVD in January, will be released at the low price point or if Showtime will milk it for $100 out of the die-hards first. Season 1 is pretty much the only must-own season of the series anyways, and the longest as well (22, season 5 had 12)
Let's hope that HBO follows suit and does this. I might consider Six Feet Under sets for $49.99, but not for $99.99, they're not even complete seasons.
L&OFan4Eva 08-27-2005, 03:32 PM I was at Sam's Club and though I've bought these titles already, they had a bundle of the first three volumes of Seinfeld for $69.99. Which is like $24.99 a box set. Sounds like a cool bargain to me.
Dean Winchester 09-12-2005, 11:11 PM I was at Best Buy and saw this today, they've altered the packaging too to slimcases.
If you're either a fan or someone curious to see it but not pay $80-110 for it, this is your best chance. Season 1 is basically the alpha and omega for the series anyways, by season 2 the show was already getting cliche and recycling old plotlines.

Hehe, this is kind of random but there is a physics instructor at my college that hails from North Adams. He went to Drury Senior HS there, and I believe he and his dad started a marathon at North Adams State College -- maybe you heard of it, the Sam Gomez Classic. Pretty neat that you are from there. :)

kattalien 11-20-2005, 04:53 PM The main places I buy the DVDs is Target and Best Buy.
Yesterday, I brought the first four seasons of Brady Bunch for $19.99 each.
Before I go to Best Buy, I check the prices at Target.
This past week, Friends 1 - 9 seasons were $19.99 each at Best Buy.
Also, I get the dvds at Columbia House web site.

Dean Winchester 11-28-2005, 05:22 PM if you have any Ellen fans here, Amazon has seasons 1 and 2 of her series together for $31.94 (season 1 is on sale for 12.97 and season 2 for 18.97)... that's 67% off the retail price, if you're a fan of Ellen this is definately the best deal to get for her series, and now we know season 3 is coming so there's no worries about the show being abandoned. The first two seasons were the worst IMO but for that price, it's totally worth owning, season 1 alone costs more than that by itself
Dean Winchester 11-30-2005, 08:04 PM if there are any Jeff Foxworthy fans here, I saw copies of Jeff Foxworthy Show season 1 at Wally World in their $5.50 DVD bin. Unlike Three's Company season 1 which has been in those bins before too, Jeff Foxworthy is a complete season.

Excellent!! This helps me out in completing Sanford & Son. I only need seasons 4 and 5 to complete it, and being able to get them together for just $22 is great. I'm sure I'll be tempted to order some other stuff too. Thank you for this alert.

Here's what I'm considering:
All In The Family S1
All In The Family S4
Barney Miller S1
Sanford & Son S4
Sanford & Son S5
SWAT S1
Total = $66.24

Dean Winchester 01-03-2006, 02:08 AM Best Buy is also having an in-store buy 1, get 1 Sony sale with certain titles, unfortunately no Fame.
Too bad there's nothing else by Sony I want right now, DDD/Best Buy should've included Fame in the sale because I would've gotten it then, because I did pick up a copy of Seinfeld season 6, because I needed a replacement as disc four on my copy wouldn't play, and then picked up Rescue Me because I figure I can sell it off (if BB had Fame in their sale, I would've picked that up instead)
vashti1999 01-03-2006, 02:15 AM Now that I look at it, it's kinda crazy they're charging $45 for Fame when it was $31-$32 when it was released. But one good thing with this amazon deal, if they let you do it: you can probably get all 4 seasons of Soap for around $40.

There are a number of online retailers that offer to credit buyers back cash on past purchases. For instance, if the product you purchased at Amazon.com within the last 30 days has dropped in price they will credit you back the difference. That's great news!
The only problem is that you have to check the latest prices and then notify them in order to get the credit. We simplify the whole process.
After you make a purchase, visit our web site and enter the purchase information into our database along with your email address. We do the rest. We'll check the prices everyday and send you an email if the price has dropped. In the email will be a link right to the place where you claim your credit.

Sorry about above, I hit edit when I meant to hit quote. That direct link apparently is still working, so that offer is still going on. I don't know how long it'll last and I doubt they'll add any more titles other than what they've already listed.
Dean Winchester 01-11-2006, 01:22 AM Vashti, Barnes And Noble is having the same B1G1 sale... and this time Fame's applied :) I'm gonna order it once I think of the second title I want

Dean Winchester 01-13-2006, 01:29 PM Easy, just get two copies of Fame so you'll have a backup in case something happens to the first one
I ordered Fame and Seinfeld seasons 1/2 online since they didn'ty have it instore after all. My sister loves Seinfeld and I figure that could be a way to start her Seinfeld collection since her bday is around the corner.
Yesterday, I picked up seasons 1 and 2 of Soap at the Best Buy sale... and I spent almost all last night watching the first disc, I am totally hooked and will get seasons 3 and 4 before the special ends in February. I cannot believe I was watching a show from the 70's considering the content, and I loved it. Even though I don't ever recall Benson being so over-the-top on his own show, I actually like him better as the sarcastic butler who openly hates his employers, lol. You can tell that Susan Harris got a lot of her inspiration for Rose Nylund from Jessica Tate (who I absolutely love Katherine Helmond in the role, I always thought she was the best actor on Who's The Boss anyways), and Blossom's dad (Ted Wass) was hot as hell back then too, lol.

I was tempted to get more, but I'm involved with sales in three or four other places and would end up getting more than I can afford to watch (or afford).
DVDFreaker 11-21-2006, 01:55 PM I just ordered ER Seasons 4 (1 for me and 1 for my brother for Christmas), and ER Season 5 :D
I ordered Murphy Brown and Fresh Prince season one for myself, and FP season two as a Christmas gift. This is a great deal!
TV DVD Fan 11-27-2006, 09:03 AM Yeah I'm shocked about NIGHT COURT--- only 8 bucks and change?
Unbelievable deals, Amazon! Of course, the really GREAT deals only come when none of us can afford it .
gilligan fanatic 11-28-2006, 02:57 PM Suncoast had a Bogo sale (Buy one get one free) I picked up Andy Griffith's 5th season and got Hogan's Heroes third season for free. They had a bunch of overstocks and stuff like that. It was still a preety good list to choose from though.
TV DVD Fan 11-28-2006, 03:30 PM Wow a SunCoast still in business. The chances of that are like the chances of me winning the lottery.
DVDFreaker 11-29-2006, 10:25 AM Wow a SunCoast still in business. The chances of that are like the chances of me winning the lottery.
 Suncoast does suck though, the prices on DVDs are just ridicioulous but however, they do have hard to find DVDs so that is a bright side out of this
TV DVD Fan 11-29-2006, 10:57 AM Yeah when they were still a corporate giant, they had an amazing selection of DVD's. That's very true, indeed.
gilligan fanatic 11-29-2006, 02:33 PM The one in my mall closed down but over the weekend I was visiting my family in Pittsburgh and I went to the one there
They really did have some good deals. I payed 30 dollars for the two I mentioned earlier. They also had Hogans Heroes's first season for 15.99 and Happy Days first season for 15.99.

Not too impressed, I wish Magnum PI was part of the sale, I would buy Seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5 in a heartbeat!
Tomorrow, for one day only, DVD Box Sets are 40% off at Borders. You have to have the e-coupon though to get the 40% off.
How do I get the e-coupon?
Nighthawk76 12-10-2006, 01:56 PM You have to sign up with Borders by going to their site and indicating that you want to receive e-mails from them. They send out e-mails with e-coupons in them.
I get those! :D

vashti1999 01-03-2007, 12:27 PM Deep Discount DVD is having a buy 1 get 1 free sale until January 16 on Sony TV-DVDs: link (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/promotion/buyAndGetFree_form.cfm?promoName=tvb1g1_0107&page=1)
Barnes & Noble has a Buy 1, Get One Free sale running currently on-site and in their stores. Their prices are rather high to begin with, though. However, if you pay with a Mastecard, there is an offer running now where you can save $10 on a $40 order. I also had a B&N gift card for $10, so I got the first season of Everybody Hates Chris and the fourth season of Home Improvement for $32.00. I don't think that's bad at all considering that the Disney sets (Golden Girls, Home Improvement, etc.) never drop below $27 for ANY reason.
http://www.bn.com the deal is on the front page.

I took advantage of that deal yesterday lol The Barnes & Noble close to me has one of the best and biggest selections of TV-DVDs that I've ever seen. But, you're right about the prices being a little higher than most places, which is why I don't get TV-DVD's there very often.

I also went into the store yesterday (because online they don't allow you to apply more than one gift card to a purchase) and picked up seasons 1&2 of Dinosaurs (one set) and the third season of Home Improvement, along with the latest Monk novel, "Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu" for $25.00! They do have a great selection, but the store that I went to had only one copy of everything except for Desperate Housewives, Lost and Grey's Anatomy.
The sale is limited to the titles listed online, but in the store the sale applies to ALL TV-DVD sets.
The $10 off a $40 order for Mastercard holders is Here (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/thisweek/online.asp?r=1&pid=14289) and lasts until January 14th
