View Full Version : "Big" Season Premiere
barwars 09-08-2004, 11:31 AM I've heard about CBS trying very hard to keep the series premiere under wraps, which will supposedly have a "big surprise"
I'm not a fan of the series, but I think the show has met its shark -- pregnancy.
EmoJoe 09-14-2004, 03:36 PM The name of the episode is "The Home"

Scoobiedoo30 09-17-2004, 03:05 AM Yes I cant wait for the Season Premiere of Everybody Loves Raymond on Monday, September 20, 2004.
barwars 09-17-2004, 02:36 PM Once again, Im not a fan of the series.... but I think "The Home" can only mean that either the mother or father have to go into a nursing home (most likely the mother)
Scoobiedoo30 09-19-2004, 12:00 PM I dont know if yall Remember but on The Last Show of Last Season bother Ray and Robert we're talking about what if They had to put There Mom or Dad in a Nurseing Home.

Yeah...I didn't really think that would be it.
cablejockey 09-21-2004, 10:50 AM I was very surprised by this twist. It all happened so fast. I hope Frank and Marie will come back and have to live with Robert and Amy. I haven't heard anything about the two actors leaving the series, so they may be back.
Pentimento 09-21-2004, 11:58 AM I thought the season premiere was excellent. I'll admit that my enthusiasm for this show had been waning during the last couple of seasons, mainly because all of the characters had degenerated into petty, hostile and unsympathetic caricatures of their former selves. Last night, though, it seemed that the writers might finally have realized what many viewers have known all along -- that it's possible to maintain the sibling rivalry between Ray and Robert, the jealousy Robert feels regarding Marie's obvious favoritism toward Raymond, the superficial marital discord between Frank and Marie and Marie's critical attitude toward Debra, but to do it in a way that doesn't cause the characters to lose the sympathy of the viewers. Last night, I liked these people again, and I was able to laugh with them rather than be saddened by the animosity and pettiness that seemed to have tainted all of their interactions over the past couple of years.
As for the move to the retirement community, I seriously doubt that we've seen the last of Frank and Marie. I'm sure they'll be visiting often, or maybe there will be a change of plans. (The description for next week's episode reads: "Robert, Amy, Marie and Frank love their living situation.")
barwars 09-21-2004, 03:12 PM Once again, Im still not a fan of this series.... but I watched it last night, too lazy to change the channel.
Of the maybe 10, 15 episodes of the series Ive seen.... this was the best.

Thanks for sharing. Where did you read that? It seems like they are keeping what the episodes will be about all "hush hush" for some reason. I haven't been able to find anywhere that mentions any info. on the episodes. Well, I didn't know it was supposed to be a secret. :)
Actually, I didn't have to look very hard. I have my Excite.com start page set up to show DirecTV's listings, and for most channels there are program descriptions available for the current week and the week ahead.

I don't know that it's supposed to be a secret, I just meant that it seems like CBS is trying to keep the details of this season's episodes a secret. Yeah, I knew that. Hence my use of the smilie. (Maybe I should have used the winking one...?)
OK, never mind. I give up.
EmoJoe 09-22-2004, 09:20 PM Well it certainly was a "big" season premiere.
IAlsoLoveRaymond 09-23-2004, 01:54 PM This premierre looked more like a way to end the show. They had better have some big stuff waiting this season. I still say they can't end the show without Amy at least getting pregnant. Don't forget, Robert has crazy in-laws too. They have to make an appearce at some point.
CarJackSnyder 09-23-2004, 06:31 PM The premiere was great!! :D

Sorry.
Anyway, if you have anymore info. like descriptions of episodes from your Direct TV, I don't have Direct TV, please share. No, I'm sorry. I should not have snapped at you. I'm afraid I let a generally bad state of mind, combined with my usual despondency over my appalling lack of social skills, evoke my inner b*tch and there's no excuse for that. I apologize.
As for episode descriptions, I don't know if one for Oct. 4 will be coming, but so far the online DirecTV guide provides only a title: "Angry Sex".
misterblowhole 09-25-2004, 12:25 AM This was a really good episode. Very, very suprising turn of events to all come around in half an hour.
I would agree with others that this is almost like the kind of plot twist you expect to see in a series finale, not the season premiere. But give the people at this show credit for being somewhat unconvential. I have full faith in them that they will make this a great season.
Having said that, I'm very intrigued to see where they go with the story from here. I will definetly be tuned in on Monday night!
Janice 09-26-2004, 12:19 PM I didn't watch the show. Frank and Marie are in retirement home? What's up with that? The show's premise is Ray's intrusive parents living across the street.

Premises change. Watch Roseanne's last season and you will see what I mean.

If you watched, they got kicked out of the retirement community and moved back in the next episode. And they now share the house with Robert and Amy.
The episode was appropriately titled "Not So Fast"
So the premise, in fact, did not change.
