you know ive just read the whole fight thread, and its funny.
cause i think barwars complained that cliff clavin didnt list his source from where he got his Frasier factoid from.
but if you go back to the original post.....he did list the source.

so whats the problem??

If you read the tiny print below the post it says "Edited blah-blah-2004 at blah:blahPM"
He fixed it after I complained.

if we have to include sources when we post, do we need to have an index and a bibliography? just wondering, dont want to step on any toes.

It becomes a problem when you copy and paste somebody else's fanfiction or post a word-for-word article from TV Tome claiming it's your own. I think Cliff now understands why posting sources are important. Right, Cliff?

The Cheers episode guide thats on this message board and was posted by DianeChambers87......thats taken directly, verbatim, from the book "Classic Sitcoms" by Vince Waldron. Thats about 80 pages taken directly from a published book. I didn't notice any source lisitng at all for that. And im not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to have that there. If you are going to complain about not giving credit to TVTome for a little factoid, how do you feel about 80 pages from a mass produced book?

I didn't notice that - I joined right about when she left the boards. I have a TV Tome guide in the Frasier board too and I cited the source.

But erm I'm not here to pick on Cliff. And I don't think this argument is going anywhere. But Brian should add the source for the Episode guide.

I'm just curious actually. I've noticed that Episode Guide before and im actually surprised that it's there. You guys could really get in trouble. Has anyone ever said anything about this before??

I'm holding the book right now.
"Classic Sitcoms" by Vince Waldron published by Silman-James Press in 1997 (2nd edition-Revised and Expanded).

It's actually a great book, that's not my complaint. But thats the entire "Cheers" chapter you got word-for-word on your message board here.

And as it says under the copyright in the book:
"All rights reserved. No part of this book may be used or reproduced in any manner whatsoever without written permission from the publisher,except in the case of brief quotations embodied in certain articles and reviews."


Could be trouble.

Actually, if nobody reads them anyway, episode guides are kind of a waste of space. It's much easier to go online than to refer to these.

Because most the time they get updated anyways.

As for the Cheers guide.... scrap that too.

To keep the other thread on topic, I split the thread into two.
