American Pie: The Next Generation
Stifler's little bro takes over the franchise.
August 25, 2004 - Just when you thought the franchise had run its course, recent online reports suggest that a fourth American Pie is in the oven. A report over at Cinescape confirms that casting is already underway. In fact, they've heard a plot synopsis from someone who's auditioning for a role in the film.
According to the site's scooper, "All the original characters have moved on, except there will be a cameo by Finch. Stifler's little brother Matt, wants to join his brother's business (Stifler has hit it big producing Girls Gone Wild videos) and after everything Matt has heard from Jim's bandgeek wife Michelle, he plans to go back to band camp and make a video of his own... Bandies Gone Wild." We kid you not.
FilmJerk was the first to scoop the fourth film in the franchise claiming that Steve Rash (Disney's Zenon: Z3, Son in Law) was on board to direct the film from a script by newbie scribe Brad Riddell.
Additionally, Moviehole has obtained a casting side from the film with a description of the Matt Stifler character. Apparently Matt has a love interest named Elyse and "every time he almost convinces her that he has a serious, soulful, musical side, he ruins that impression by trotting out the 'Stiffmeister' aspect of his personality and putting it on public display. Horrified to learn that he's regarded by his judgmental peers as an insensitive emotional ******, Matt takes serious steps to improve his testosterone-driven personality, and gives Elyse a sign that he's capable for one brief shining moment of thinking about someone else's needs."
Universal hasn't officially announced the project, but we'll keep you abreast of the latest...

If this happens, I will be really disappointed. It won't be the same American Pie that fans have come to know over the past six years. If it ever comes out I don't think I'll watch it.
Dean Winchester 08-25-2004, 05:49 PM god, let the franchise die!!!
American Pie was a GREAT teen film, one of the last of it's kind. American Pie 2 was more of the same but still fun. American Wedding was a nice way to let the series end.
vashti1999 08-25-2004, 09:48 PM Sniff...sniff. Anybody smell the Next Karate Kid around here?
Dean Winchester 08-25-2004, 09:56 PM if it doesn't have Alyson Hannigan, I'm not gonna see it

well, if the last one made over $100 million (all 3 did), I guess they see "well, if it made money and the lead character doesn't die... LET'S MAKE ANOTHER ONE".
These people making the AP movies forget the series is going to wind up tarnished. Trust me, the Police Academy series would be seen in a much better light had they decided "it's a wrap" after pt. 2, instead of milking the franchise until it dwindled down to grossing $10 million.

That's so true. ohno:
And I'm in full agreement with the AP movies. Loved 'em, but damn if they didn't milk that one dry.

Kay Scarpetta 08-27-2004, 12:11 AM oh boy. The first 2 were great... 3rd, well.. yeah, it was amusing, I'll give it that... but a 4th one, with none of the original characters? American flop...
Dean Winchester 08-27-2004, 01:35 AM well, the cast has all signed onto "American Retirement Home", which is to be made in 2050. Included gags have Stifler's dentures getting stuck on a woman's breast, and plenty of saggy boob jokes with Tara Reid, who by this time will be 300 lbs (she goes on an eating binge when she finally becomes too old to be a party queen... her and Paris become Jabba The Hutt looking creatures) and mummy looking from bad botox.

It'll be made in 2050?!! Good! I'll probably be dead by then. If not, then I hope I'm too senile to even know what's going on!!

That movie was an embarrassment!! Iv'e never understood why they would make a fourth installment of the film, when the third one only made 37 million dollars. Did they really think people would tune into a film franchise that died five years earlier?

I don't think thats true...I think it made $77,573,000
barwars 09-05-2004, 11:14 AM It sounds stupid on paper.
AP was genius, AP2 was that and more, AW was fun (but would have been boring if it hadn't been with characters we already knew)
But as for this.... I won't go see it.

On IMDB it says it only made 37 million domestically. They may be wrong though.

agreed
I think Hollywood is a little too Trilogy happy these days.
The Star Wars movies I can see, Lord Of The Rings, sure.
When American Pie 3 came out and they advertized it as the "final installment in the American Pie Trilogy," you cross the line.
;)
Superstar 09-05-2004, 01:19 PM its the same with Scary Movie....the third one was advertised as "All good trilogies come in three's" and now they are making a Scary Movie 4
barwars 09-05-2004, 01:22 PM No movie series should ever go beyond 3 films.
Take the Vacation series for example, Vegas Vacation was terrible compared to other 3 (although I personally enjoyed).
And Star Wars, ohh god.

you gotta remember Karate Kid 3 came out in the summer 1989... still regarded as one of the hottest summers of all time. Karate Kid 3 did okay, but people were just more interested in Batman, Lethal Weapon, Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters that summer, 37 million then is like 70 million now.
They made 7 Police Academy movies, only the first 3 grossed more than Karate Kid 3 did
