haha.
I made myself finish The Jetsons - Season 1 and Sanford & Son - Season 2 before I started ALF - Season 1.

I started that yesterday, and got through the first 6 episodes.
Before Tuesday I plan on finishing ALF - Season 1, All in the Family - Season 1, and the 2 SNL DVDs I bought today. (Steve Martin and Halloween)

I'll never get caught up though -- too many are coming.

Agreed. I'm attempting to get caught up, knowing there's even more on the way. I'm holding off on the dramas like Charlie's Angels and Smallville, since they take longer getting through, and it's easier (entertainment-wise) to watch episode after episode of a sitcom than a drama.

ALF - Season 1

I completed it, and for the first in a long list of TVDVDs - I regret my purchase.
The only good thing about this set was the unaired pilot (which was just different cuts of the normal pilot) and the gag-reel.
If it weren't for those -- Id return the set altogether.

Right now Im watching Sanford & Son - Season 3, I want to finish it before I get Season 5 for review.
I'll get Season 4 whenever.

But after that, Im just going to watch a few episodes of a bunch of series, rather than whole sets at once.
I finished Season 1 of AITF the other day, and really liked it. You could tell early on that the Jeffersons were great characters.
I'll start Season 2 soon.

Ive only watched the first 3 episodes, but they do look great!!
Ive had to review things for classictvhits.com, so I wanted to get those out of the way first.

After I watch the 4th and 3rd to last Drew Carey Show episodes tonight (hour long series finale next week!), I'll get back to watching it.

I cant wait until I get shows that I planned on buying anyways though, like S&S-Season 5, and Frasier-Season11

I liked all the seasons, even Season 5. But the whole storyline with Cory and Topanga breaking up was boring and unfunny, definately a lowpoint for the series.

I've watched 6 episodes of SBTB College Years today and will probably finish the set tonight. Next up will either be Family Guy Volume 1, MTM season 1 or I Love Lucy season 2. I'm leaning towards Lucy since it's been awhile since I've watched "vintage" sitcoms. I could go for some black and white.

Im not sure if they are cut, but they are edited.
Some episodes have the correct themesong, others have the syndicated themesong.
Very uneven.

And LionsGate seems to have a complete misconception of what shows are in what season.
But supposedly they'll all be released, so it works.

Not major, but only negative with the College Years set is they should have spread the episodes more evenly over the 3 discs (maybe 6-6-7 instead of 8-8-3). With no bonus features taking up space on disc 3, they could have more episodes there and less on the first two. Other than that minor detail, I like this package alot (though the episode summaries could be better too.)

That was dumb.
6-6-7 would've made much more sense.
Or rather 7-6-6. Have the pilot be considered "bonus" on Disc 1.

it's a very uncatagorizable show, and I think that really hur it because the WB didn't know what to do with it. The first couple episodes are almost like Dawson's Creek, but once the characters got more established, the show became funnier and funnier. Except the market for hour-long comedies are non-existant. Plus, the show was marketed to teenage girls and it turned out that adults made up it's fanbase. A great mixture of camp, comedy, satire and drama.

Delta Burke and Alley Mills (the Wonder Years mom) both play parents of the characters. Delta was great as Cherry Cherry, mother of Mary Cherry (the greatest character).

I finished Popular last night, now I'm watching both 227 and Ellen.

Now that I've finished the first season of Popular, I'd definately say it's one of my fave shows. Mary Cherry, Sugar Daddy, Harrison, Nicole, "Lil" Lily, so many great characters. Popular could practically be an animated series with some of the satire they have.

I know people keep raving about Freaks And Geeks in here. I just wanna know, is it a high school comedy in the sense that Strangers With Candy (which is 100% camp) and Popular (which is a brilliant mixture of camp, satire, comedy and drama) or is it more along the lines of Wonder Years, which is great nostalgia, but the comedy moments are very subtle?

F&G is definitely not camp, though I've only watched one episode of Strangers W/Candy years ago, so I couldn't say how it compares to that. It's not a laugh out loud type of show, but it is filled, filled with humor. The appeal for me was in the characters and situations being just like real life. Once you see it, you'll recognize people you know in the characters, that's what I think the charm of the show is. It's definitely funny enough to make you grin (if not laugh out loud), but then that's not a bad thing, to me. I'd say it's a far less sentimental Wonder Years.

I've been trying to write an episode guide for "Taxi". One like at TV Tome, where it lists all the guest stars. Also, Latka is only in 15 out of 22 episodes in the first season. So I wanted to list which ones he was absent for. In other words, Taxi is the last TV-DVD I watched.

I've also been watching "Arrested Development". I had never seen the show before. The first few episodes didn't do anything for me. However, as I've been going through the rest of the episodes, I started to like it. I'm on the second disc with about three episodes left.

I finished AD, it was great.
I thought I had seen all the episodes.... but there was one I didn't recognize at all, a very nice treat.

I know that there are a few AD episodes that I haven't seen, so they will be treats for me. So far, I've just watched the extended pilot, so I still have some episode cramming to do before Sunday.

That's not bad at all. I just took a look at my list (I keep track of the date something is added to my collection.) Here are three sets that I haven't even started yet and when I got them:

Bernie Mac Show - Season 1 (05-04-2004)
Charlie's Angels - The Complete 1st Season (04-28-04)
Homicide: Life on the Street - The Complete 1st and 2nd Seasons (01-05-2004)

Those are sets I got before June. I have a few I bought in recent months that I haven't started either.

When I asked when they'll be in tomorrow (they said probably at opening time).... they said they had over 100 people looking for them.

Meanwhile, directly below is Circuit City, which had 100s of copies, yet everything was 10 dollars more, and you get nothing extra.

Last one I watched was Arrested Development - first episode.

Unfortunately there was a problem with the disc, so I had to go and exchange it for another. I don't want to have to watch the first episode again but I suppose I better to make sure.

explain, please.

 It was about this weird girl, she didn't have any friends. A new girl moves into the neighborhood and they strike up a friendship. They're both going through the same thing (parents divorce). This girl started practicing voodoo/witchcraft in an attempt to cast a spell on her father's new fiance. There was one freaky scene where she had her face covered in weird makeup and she held a doll in some red water (blood?) in the bathtub while she was doing a satanic-type chant. She'd lash out at the girl she became friends with one minute (You're not loyal!! You promised we'd be friends forever!!) and then be pleasant the next. You expect her to be committed at the end, she was so crazy. My explanation can't do it justice just how weird this show was. If you remember how most of the old afterschool specials were, this wasn't your typical after school special. It was just completely mental, one of those so bad it's good deals. You have to see it.

I'm working my way through several DVD's.

Charmed season 1 - finished disc 2
Taxi season 2 - finished disc 1
Simpsons season 5 - finished disc 3
Roswell season 2 - have three episodes left to go... watched the first 3 discs way back when I got it and then shelved it when I got other stuff... now I'm finishing the season

However, all of those are going to take a backseat when I receive Popular season 2... cannot wait for that one.

With four episodes to go, I'll be finishing up Taxi Season 2 within the next few hours. One of the greatest sitcom seasons ever, probably my favorite of the series. If Danny Devito didn't win the Emmy that season he was robbed.

Season 2? Not season 3?

I'm also watching Benny Hill (which you should like, being a fan of sitcoms and sketch comedy). After Taxi, I'll either start on Degrassi Junior High or Fresh Prince.

The first episode of the second season is probably my favorite episode of the series. George and Tom wearing the same suit was one of the funniest scenes of any TV show ever.

I began on the 1st disc of TBB S1...I watched the first two episodes... The pilot episode was the first one, and oh man...I was in HYSTERICS. I was literally snorting, and I only do that if something strikes me as REALLY funny. I thought I was going to die during the scene where Tiger was chasing Fluffy! :rotflmao:  And that scene with the WHOLE family at the hotel...Oh man...CLASSIC!

last night I finally finished Taxi season 2, I agree with Vash that DeVito deserved an Emmy, even tho I personally wasn't too crazy about the musical segment at the end of Fantasy Borough part two. Can't wait for season 3, which if I recall from N@N, was my favorite season (even tho all 5 years were great). 2, 3 and 5 were all faves from what I remember, but I don't remember too much of season 4 outside of Vic Ferrari and the return of Simka.

Tonight I finished disc 1 of Reba season 1

That musical segment was one of the most memorable moments for me from when I watched the show during its original run way back in '79/'80. Alot of my personal favorite episodes were from season 2, so I don't know if future seasons are automatic buys for me. I'd need to sample some season 3 episodes to refresh my memory.

it's been at least 8 or 9 years since I'd seen the episodes on N@N, but from what I remember, there was no such thing as a bad season of Taxi, all 5 years are definate must-owns for me, especially since it's not currently on TV Land or anything.

I just wish they could've had something bonus on them. Paramount blew it by not getting Christopher Lloyd to record a commentary for "Rev. Jim: A Space Odyssey", or maybe even Carol Kane for "Guess Who's Coming For Brefnish". I love how fast they're getting the sets out, but Taxi is such a beloved show that it would've been great to get interviews with all involved, since everyone besides Kaufman is still alive and healthy. Plus, since everyone alive appeared as themselves (save DeVito, but that was only because he was another character) in "Man On The Moon", they're all still fond of the show.

I'm in the middle of "The Jamie Foxx Show - Season 1" which I got yesterday at FYE for only $24.99, and I had a ten dollar gift certificate to the mall.

It's a low-brow type of show, just meant for cheap laughs. Garrett Morris is one of my favorite SNL stars, and he's just great on this show. You can tell from the earliest episodes that Jamie Foxx was destined to become a huge star, even if it meant a few years on a less than perfect sitcom. It's smarter than Kenan & Kel, but lightyears behind Frasier.
