View Full Version : What's the Last TV DVD You Watched? (Part 4) Superstar 03-07-2005, 04:36 AM I've completed disc 1 in Friends season 8. I'm currently half way through the second disc vashti1999 03-07-2005, 04:48 PM As I type I'm watching "The Hero" episode of the Brady Bunch with commentary from Suasn Olsen, Barry Williams and Chris Knight. They are so funny, I hope they do commentary for future releases. These three seem like they'd be the most fun to listen to. I can't picture Mike Lookinland being as humorous. barwars 03-07-2005, 06:48 PM As I type I'm watching "The Hero" episode of the Brady Bunch with commentary from Suasn Olsen, Barry Williams and Chris Knight. They are so funny, I hope they do commentary for future releases. These three seem like they'd be the most fun to listen to. I can't picture Mike Lookinland being as humorous. I agree. I think Maureen McCormick would be good too.... but Eve Plumb would be the worst to listen to (oddly enough, I think she's the best actor of the bunch [no pun intended]) vashti1999 03-07-2005, 08:43 PM I agree. I think Maureen McCormick would be good too. I was thinking the same thing, add Maureen to the group and that would be the perfect combo to provide fun commentary. Florence H. wouldn't be bad either. I skipped their commentary on A-Camping We Will Go, I'll have to go back and listen to that. Adamantium 03-07-2005, 11:57 PM I watched some "Ellen: Season 2" this morning. Believe it or not, that's the only time I watched TV today. Don't worry, I'll watch some more once I get off line. ;) Beginning tomorrow, I'll be watching season 9 of "Friends". That's how I watch it. Just one right after another until I'm done. Other shows, I just skip around and watch any episodes. Friends, you have to watch in order, though. Now if I can find "SBTB:TNC" I'll be watching that first. vashti1999 03-08-2005, 12:11 AM Now if I can find "SBTB:TNC" I'll be watching that first. Hope you find it ok. I just finished the first disc and am enjoying it much more than season 1. PZelda 03-08-2005, 12:26 AM I was thinking the same thing, add Maureen to the group and that would be the perfect combo to provide fun commentary. Florence H. wouldn't be bad either. I skipped their commentary on A-Camping We Will Go, I'll have to go back and listen to that. I wish I could listen to the commentaries...It sucks that I can't listen to it! Adamantium 03-08-2005, 12:36 AM Hope you find it ok. I just finished the first disc and am enjoying it much more than season 1. Except for the last two seasons, which I've only seen a couple episodes of, Season 2 is the one I've seen the least. I remember liking it, but it's been a long time since I've watched it. So I'm really looking forward to it. Season 2 is when the show began to separate itself from the original. dawsongirl 03-08-2005, 03:05 AM Futurama Vol 4. Great set. I just wish the commentary was closed captioned. And everyone talking didn't sound the same. Only guys I can pick out are Billy West and David X. Cohen. Dean Winchester 03-08-2005, 01:47 PM watched all of Seinfeld season 1 last night (well, it's only 5 episodes). Like Iposted in the board, the theme music (very Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) for the pilot episode seems so out of place considering what we've come to associate with Seinfeld Joker85 03-08-2005, 04:09 PM i'm just starting disc one of Friends: The Complete Ninth Season vashti1999 03-08-2005, 04:33 PM Watched the first two episodes of Father Murphy Season 2. Hopefully, I'll be done with the Brady Bunch set tonight. PZelda 03-08-2005, 06:53 PM Started Disc 1 of Charlie's Angels S1 - I love it so far. I'm starting to get into police shows/dramas now. On my to-buy list for dramas/cop shows: - Hunter S1 - Murder, She Wrote S1 (HUUUUUUUUUUUGE must, I remember watching this when I was a little girl and I love it) - Highway to Heaven S1 - 7th Heaven S1 & S2 (down the road) - MacGyver S1 (Target for only $30...can't beat that) - Gilmore Girls S1-S3 (S3 out in May) Can't think of anything else. vashti1999 03-10-2005, 05:15 PM Watched 6 of the 9 episodes on disc 2 of Saved By The Bell - The New Class, season 2 barwars 03-10-2005, 07:09 PM Watched the first episode of "Fat Albert - Volume 1".... great show. Joker85 03-10-2005, 09:05 PM just starting on the 3rd disc of Friends: Season 9 Skywalker 03-10-2005, 09:26 PM Dukes of Hazzard - Season 2 Disc 4 Side A Adamantium 03-11-2005, 06:21 PM I finished up all of "Friends: Season 9" last night. I watched the whole series in three days. This is one of my favorite seasons. Season 8 I had a struggle to get through at first, but I completely enjoyed watching season 9. I also started watching my "ALF" DVD. Once I bought it, I was so upset over it being syndicated episodes, that I didn't watch it. Now, I'm still mad, but I'm able to watch it. PZelda 03-11-2005, 07:53 PM I finished episode 5 on Disc #2 of Charlie's Angels S1. :) barwars 03-11-2005, 09:08 PM I watched a few more episodes of Kojak. TripperFan 03-12-2005, 12:42 AM Andy Griffith - season one Before that was "24" - Seasons 1 & 2 Joker85 03-12-2005, 11:56 PM finished up Friends: Season 9. i have nothing else to watch until That 70s Show Season Two comes out in April :( Guess I'll just have to start watching random episodes of shows. slackermonkey 03-13-2005, 12:34 AM On disc 4 of Friends: The Complete Ninth Season. Thank God for college -- otherwise I would have finished blazing through this set three days ago. jehobden 03-13-2005, 01:42 AM The Brady Bunch Season 1 hpluba 03-13-2005, 02:58 AM 'Married..with Children' Season 3 DVD, and Spongebob Season 1. lol. Up next, either I Love Lucy season 3, or Fresh Prince season 1 or re-watch Freaks and Geeks. Classicshowsgurl15 03-15-2005, 11:06 PM Happy Days First Season episodes. Waiting for Season 2. vashti1999 03-17-2005, 03:35 PM Finished I Love Lucy, season 3, disc 1 Superstar 03-18-2005, 04:12 PM I'm on Charmed season 1 , disc 4 PZelda 03-18-2005, 05:05 PM Um, I just finished watching "Dirty Business" (February 2, 1977) on the 4th disc of Charlie's Angels - S1. It was the 3rd of 5 episodes - so I have six more episodes left and I will be done with the S1 set. :) Adamantium 03-18-2005, 05:42 PM "Hogan's Heroes" - This morning, I rewatched the pilot. I love that first episode. One thing bothers me though. At the end of the episode, Carter leaves. Then in the next episode and for the rest of the series, he's there. Is there something I missed? Plus, I liked the show better in black and white. Adamantium 03-20-2005, 03:06 PM "Make Room for Daddy" - Season 5. It's a very funny show. The only problem I have is with the DVD not showing the opening credits. I want all of the episodes to be complete with opening credits, uncut show and ending credits. Why is that so hard for this company to do? They also released "The Joey Bishop Show" the same way. I think they are the company releasing "The Doris Day Show". So expect that to be the same. These are great shows from "Yester-year" that this company is not doing justice to. vashti1999 03-20-2005, 04:05 PM "Make Room for Daddy" - Season 5. It's a very funny show. The only problem I have is with the DVD not showing the opening credits. I want all of the episodes to be complete with opening credits, uncut show and ending credits. How do the episodes open, with shortened, edited credits or no opening credits at all? Last thing I watched was the 4th disc of I Love Lucy season 3, one disc to go then I'll be done. Dean Winchester 03-20-2005, 04:22 PM I've watched 16 of 21 Popular season 2 episodes. I like the season, but it is definately inferior to the first season. The show was a lot funnier before they started adding "very special episodes" to the mix, there's no less than three episodes in a row dealing with a characters' bout with leukemia, and then another dealing with anorexia, and another dealing with homophobia. I like the show better when its campier and more comedic. But you knew the WB was forcing the show to get more dramatic when even out there camped characters like Mary Cherry and April Tuna were suddenly being given depth. Adamantium 03-20-2005, 06:50 PM How do the episodes open, with shortened, edited credits or no opening credits at all? As much as I love the show, the DVDs are crap. The episodes open without any theme song. I push play on the episode and it starts as if I'm tuning into the middle of the episode. And I'm pretty sure the episodes are edited. There are a few glitches in the scenes, which don't look like bad film, but cheap DVDs. I know that by the fifth season, the show was titled "The Danny Thomas Show." So they are obviously using the syndicated episodes. Especially since the first four seasons are not in syndication. Nevertheless, it's still great to see this series again. It brought back wonderful memories of me watching "Make Room for Daddy" on N@N waiting for my dad to get home from work. I hope the show gets re-released by Image, starting with Season 1. Image is a company that does a show justice. vashti1999 03-22-2005, 04:23 PM Finished disc 1, season 1 of Sanford and Son barwars 03-22-2005, 06:08 PM I'm in the middle of the first disc of "Green Acres - Season 2", which I hope to finish up tonight. vashti1999 03-23-2005, 05:11 PM Finished disc 1, season 1 of Doogie Howser, M.D. Corny in spots, but I still like it Superstar 03-25-2005, 04:52 AM Finished disc 5 of Charmed, I've just watched the first episode of disc six "Love Hurts". Only one more episode to go before I'm finished the set! snl75 03-26-2005, 03:35 AM the every boy does it once ep. of the brady bunch season 1 vashti1999 03-27-2005, 10:52 PM Watched the first disc of the Richard Pryor Show. Recommended, if for nothing else, to see early tv appearances of Robin Williams, Tim Reid, Sandra Bernhard, Edie McClurg, Marsha Warfield, John Witherspoon, Charles Fleischer, Shirley Hemphill among others. ALOT of familiar faces. Dean Winchester 03-28-2005, 06:12 AM I finished Popular season 2 --- I really hate that season 3 didn't happen because the series finale was very much a cliffhanger, since they hoped to get picked up for a third year, so some relations were left unresolved (such as Mary Cherry going homeless and finding out RuPaul is her long lost father, and Josh and Lily reconsidering their marriage) while the series ended on a major cliffhanger regarding Brooke. It was a great 43 episode run, even though a third season would've been sweet so they could've finished out senior year at least (they were juniors in season 2). vashti1999 03-28-2005, 05:20 PM Today: started and completed Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - The Original Animated Series, Vol. 1 nice 04-02-2005, 05:13 PM I watched the "Greatest American Hero" pilot. Adamantium 04-02-2005, 05:38 PM I bought and watched all 22 episodes of the first season of "Reba". Although I still don't find it that funny, it's better than I gave it credit for. I just can't get past Reba's annoying voice. I know I've just offended some people and I know people like her voice, because she's a popular singer. But I can't stand it. barwars 04-02-2005, 06:20 PM I bought and watched all 22 episodes of the first season of "Reba". Superstar 04-05-2005, 03:47 PM Episode 1 of Newlyweds Adamantium 04-09-2005, 11:28 AM I've been watching seasons 1 and 2 of "X-Men: Evolution". I had gotten out of the show, but I recently got the last volume of season 2. That got me in the mood to watch it again. I've been watching them out of order. So the last episode I actually watched was "Middleverse" from the first season. I still intend to buy it, though. Also, it's funny seeing "Rick Marshall" going home through that vortex. And the incredible coincidence that their uncle goes to the Land of the Lost. Last TV-DVD I watched was an episode of Monk: Season 2. vashti1999 04-11-2005, 04:04 PM Also, it's funny seeing "Rick Marshall" going home through that vortex. And the incredible coincidence that their uncle goes to the Land of the Lost. I was thinking the exactly same thing when I watched it, both points. I'll be mentioning that when I review the set. The special effects of Rick Marshall falling through the "door of time": priceless. (Or should that be worthless?) vashti1999 04-12-2005, 11:56 AM I slept through...I mean watched a few episodes of Sledge Hammer, Season 2. There are so few "Sliders" fans on the boards and it's a show I like to talk about. :) My only complaint with the DVD is that the episodes are in broadcast order, when clearly they should be in production order. I'm glad to have it on DVD, it's just one of my pet peeves - having shows in order. As for me, I was watching more Season Two of "Saved by the Bell: the New Class". It kept my attention the whole time and was very funny (at certain times). I really don't like the Superman character in general, but the one on this show is classic. Like I had said before, the only episode I saw before the pilot was the very last episode when it originally aired. I remember liking that episode too. One thing I noticed about the show. Whenever there's a crazy moment or where the friends are fighting amongst themselves, the episode ends with some big serious thing breaking them up. For example, in the poker episode, the friends are all playing poker and getting into it, especially Ross. Then Rachel gets a call that she did not get a big job she wanted. Another episode, the gang are split in half. Ross, Monica and Chandler against Rachel, Phoebe and Joey. They're arguing, and then Monica gets a phone call, she's been fired. They all forget about their fight and comfort her. Just something I've noticed about the show. U.M. I also want to watch Friends seasons 1-9 before 10 comes out. troopoleon8897 08-28-2005, 01:42 PM You go back to school on a Friday? Huh... thats weird.
