Don't go to bed tonight at all tonight. Then you will be sleepy by 11pm tomorrow.

Go to bed tonight when you are tired (which Im guessing will be around 4am lol), but set your alarm for 8 or 9am. Do that for a few days, then sooner or later your body will give in and youll want to go to bed a lot earlier. Also, try relaxing before you go to bed. I know it sounds ultra lame, but one night before I went to sleep, I did these stretches/meditation for about 5 min. and just took deep slow breathes, and it really calmed me down.

I guess I don't really need to be in here, lol.

But I know what you're going through... now I'm on a kick of staying up past my usual 4:30, and falling asleep at around 6 AM. (At least I have more time to get my schedule together. :p )

Plus if I wake up early, people will bug me. Seriously, my parents will have me do things or my nephew (who we watch during his vacation til school starts up) will bug me to play with him all day. So I just try and go unnoticed in my room like a hermit.

I'm trying to do that too. Even though I have nowhere to go.

Sarah, don't be like me. :grr:

Take melatonin, if you have any around. You can pick up a jar at your local kmart or walmart...

Melatonin is supposed to make you sleepy. I had to take them after I got home from England to help me get back into my normal sleeping schedule and not England's, due to the fact school was still in session and I had to be back by the next day.

MAKE yourself get up. Seriously, put your alarm at the other end of the room so you actually have to move. Then make yourself go to the bathroom or whatever. It really wouldnt matter what time you woke up.. youre still gonna feel groggy. And if you get TOO much sleep, youre gonna be slow and groggy all day.

Unfortunately, the only thing that's helping me regulate my sleep patterns and insomnia are medications.

I'm on Trazodone, an anti-depressant, and Zyprexa, an anti-psychotic to help me sleep... among all of my other medicines. Perhaps you should look into seeing a psychiatrist if your sleeping problems are getting intense. He/she will probably prescribe you an anti-depressant. They don't really prescribe barbiturates anymore- they're too damn dangerous.

Force yourself to go to sleep earlier :happyface Yeah...we get used to certain sleep patterns so the only way to get your body used to another one is just to go to sleep earlier until you actually start getting tired at that time...well, not until...stay that way till next summer :)

I've been trying already...and school's still a month away for me. Takes me hours to fall asleep. I just keep tossing and turning...course...it's like that for me either way.

I used to be on a pretty good sleeping schedule after being in Europe for about a week and a half...I was still used to European time, so I could sleep at around 12 then get up at 8 or 9ish...PERFECT for school, right? Then a few nights ago I had friends sleep over and we ended up sleeping around 4:30...so now I'm back to my old sleeping patterns. Blah. This whole summer I've slept around 3, then I wake up at 12. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

For school, I'm going to TRY this year to sleep at 11:30 and wake up at 7.

I've changed my sleeping habits a bit, too. I used to stay up until 4 am every night. Now, I've cut back to about 2 am most nights. Sometimes a little after 1 am. And, I've also been getting used to getting up at 11 am every day. It's a start. I'll gradually work at going to sleep around 8pm and getting up at 7am or so. I swear, I need that much sleep. And, it's only summer. In winter I'm actually much worse in getting up early. In winter I'll be like a hibernating mouse or something.

I have to get up at 4:30 AM to go to work (yeah, it sucks) so I try not to mess with my sleep schedule on weekends. I may give myself some extra time, but I still get up early.

If however I stay out late, my whole sleep schedule will be messed up, because I will still wake up early!

I'm a night owl, but I'm in the process of going to bed and getting up earlier. I was on the 4am to noon deal, but I've got it down to 2:30am to 10:30. My goal is 12am to 8.

I was born a night owl. Even as a child, I liked to stay up late and sleep late.

I didn't go to bed earlier than 1am (or later) on a regular basis until 1st grade. Yay, for PM kindergarden (that gave me an extra year of staying up late). And NOW... yay for late college schedules. :cheer:

Thank you Carole :)

When I was in a mental instituion one time for 72Hr observation they gave me stuff that knocked me out flat!! -- I dont know what it was,but it was better than anything in the store you can get!! (I hid it in my mouth and threw it out when they werent looking and it still knocked me out)

I had told a teacher I was gonna do it and she called them......I didnt like the place I was at so I found a window that didnt have its blocker on top so I jimmied it open and left........ (After I escaped they finally fixed that window and put a plastic covering over all the windows (Plexiglass I think))

Ah man!!
