View Full Version : 'Rock me Amadeus' -20 yrs later
Kazza 07-19-2004, 12:16 PM Did anyone got into that craze of listening to Amadeus over and over again? I was only 9yrs old and spent some time in my room listening to it and driving my mom crazy. What about the video?? Too bad that he was a 'one time wonder' and didn't had any more success.
Here's a sample of his work and of Amadeus in case you was too young to remember or just never listened to it.

More than that, too bad he was killed, but he did have more than one hit. The RMA followup single "Vienna Calling" along with his version of Der Komissar also did well.

He was killed? I never knew that. What happened to him? I love the song "Rock Me Amadeus".

I would say rap with class and not the trash of today;)
Steve M. 07-19-2004, 11:07 PM New York radio station WPLJ-FM did a parody of "Rock Me Amadeus" called "Eat Me, I'm a Danish" in which the lowly danish compares itself favorably against the favorite yuppie pastry, the croissant. Why didn't Weird Al Yankovic think of this first?
diezman 07-19-2004, 11:10 PM I love 80s pop but I hate that song:mad:

Here is the definitive parody (http://home.comcast.net/~aka909walrus/afcs.mp3) of "Rock Me, Amadeus." :)
dandelion wine 07-20-2004, 01:10 AM Better believe I did! Every time it came on the radio, I turned that sucker up. "Der Komisser" was another one I really liked.
Sad that he's no longer here. :(
Cashodeen 07-20-2004, 01:32 AM Well, it hasn't quite been 20 years since RMA, but oh wells... FALCO ROCKED! I felt bad when I heard he died. Rock Me Amedeus is one of my favorite 80s hits, and I've liked all the other songs of his that I've heard.
The video for Rock Me Amedeus was awesome too.

Cashodeen 07-20-2004, 02:00 AM You can thank VH1 and other equally wrong sources for calling Falco a one-hit wonder, and making people think he was one. Sure, his biggest hit was "Rock Me Amedeus," and if you ask many people, they instantly associate Falco with that "signature song." But to me, that is not what makes a one-hit wonder. "Vienna Calling" went to number 18 on the charts, for pete sakes! And most are familiar with "Der Kommissar." Screw After the Fire's version! :p
Steve M. 07-20-2004, 09:45 PM Weren't there two versions of "Rock Me Amadeus?" One was Falco mostly rapping in German, another one was the words "Rock Me Amadeus" sung over and over and over, with a computer-distorted voice in the middle reciting biographical facts about Mozart.
