Kay Scarpetta 07-12-2004, 01:27 PM I noticed you had a few singers/wannabe singers on your list... I'm going to base my opinions on purely acting, and not by how 'popular' they are today, but Hollywood in general. Actresses known for their accomplishments.

I like all of them except Halle and Jennifer.
I don't have a list cos I'm not smart enough to compile one.

Really?
Britney Spears is one of the top players in Hollywood?
Beyonce too?
Madonna?
Jessica Simpson?
How many movies have these four made?
Yikes, you are way off base.
Just look at the highest paid actresses to see who is at the top.

LucyCompanyPhan 07-19-2004, 12:05 AM this list is stupid. its just a pile of everyone's opinion's you can't really say Britney Spears & Meryl Streep are more popular than one or another. Its just genre and age. I mean, I bet every 14 year old girl has heard of Britney Spears but I bet half of them they couldn't name one movie that Meryl Streep has been in. Or take an older aged women. Ask her to name the title of the latest Britney Spear's song, or ask her to name a Meryl Streep movie. The Genre is totally different.
This basically turns into an 'your favorite hollywood women' list not most popular.

well, Madonna's been in a ton of movies, it's just that she's only been in about four that were any good at all. lol
Dean Winchester 07-19-2004, 07:29 PM right now, I'd probably rank it like this (just at the moment, Julia and Sandra have both ranked higher before IMO)
1. Nicole Kidman
2. Halle Berry
3. Cameron Diaz
4. Renee Zelweger
5. Julia Roberts
6. Drew Barrymore
7. Kirsten Dunst
8. Sandra Bullock
9. Catherine Zeta-Jones
10. Jennifer Aniston
just moviewise. Unfortunately it shows the sexism that prevails in Hollywood, Sandra is the only person on the list who is 40 (I think she just turned 40), whereas if you did a male list, you'd probably find a few over 40's who are on the list

I think you mean sex symbol, unless you're making a comment about their bedroom activities.
I am Him 08-04-2004, 01:00 PM Most of the women in hollywood are talentless hacks.
Well they demonstrate talent on the casting couch, but that's about it.
Dean Winchester 08-04-2004, 02:19 PM I think Jennifer Lopez has fallen a few notches. Her last movie really knocked her off the track and her last couple singles weren't very popular. I think people just finally got their fill of her after having her shoved down our throats and being told she's some sort of talented singer for 3 years
webuster 08-04-2004, 02:30 PM I guess it depends on what constitutes 'Popularity'- Being talked about, Most sought after for movies, Biggest box office gross.
Jennifer Lopez is pretty much box office poison it seems- her films are criticised by people before they're even made- which is a shame, because her and Nicole Kidman may be doing a movie next year- and for all we know, J.Lo may have some acting ability- give her a chance! Everyone just seems sick of her- I've already seen comments about 'Shall We Dance' online with people saying it'll be terrible. Jennifer's only popular at the moment because she makes the headlines- for the wrong reasons.
In terms of most sought after actresses- probably Nicole Kidman, followed by Jennifer Aniston.

the thing about J. Lo's movies is that she doesn't really have her own style... almost all of her movies thus far have been stealing formulas from movies that more famous, established actresses have done.
Wedding Planner was better when Sandra Bullock starred in it and it was called While You Were Sleeping
Enough was better when Julia Roberts starred in it and called it Sleeping With The Enemy
The Cell was better when Jodie Foster starred in it and it was called Silence Of The Lambs
Maid In Manhattan... another movie that Sandra Bullock did better, kinda like a hybrid of Hope Floats and Miss Congeniality
Gigli was better (okay, not BETTER) when Madonna and Sean Penn did the movie and called it Shanghai Surprise, lol
she just doesn't have any distinguishing identity as an actress
webuster 08-04-2004, 02:47 PM Gigli was better (okay, not BETTER) when Madonna and Sean Penn did the movie and called it Shanghai Surprise, lol
LMAO!
I hope Nicole Kidman and J.Lo do 'American Darlings' together- it's about 2 women singers during world war 2 (I think it's that war!)- may be a musical. I think it sounds good- Kidman wouldn't have picked it for nothing- so it may be J.Lo's first big chance at defining herself as an actress.
As for 'Shall We Dance'- I may actually see this. It's a remake of an Asian film- with Richard Gere as well.
