Mrs. Ducky 07-10-2004, 08:28 PM I've heard her new song and I thought her voice sounds better than it did on her first CD. My friend says she's her idol. I don't like her much. I used to, though. Mr. Stefani 07-10-2004, 08:28 PM her "new" song would actually be "My Happy Ending" Hollow 07-10-2004, 08:40 PM I'm over the 'poseur' thing and anyone who isn't needs to get a grip, but i shall never forgive her for butchering metallica's song "fuel" at MTV icon. it was funny.. you could tell by the looks on lars and james' faces they couldn't stand it either. other than that i think she's pretty (actually i always have) and her music is alright. i like her song "unwanted", the lyrics are my life story. Have you heard her "cover" of "Chop Suey" by SOAD? Ugh... But yeah she doesn't bother me as much as she used to. I like her new songs... Mrs. Ducky 07-10-2004, 08:51 PM I was a fan of hers until December 31, 2002. I went to my friend's house for New Years Eve and she was on TV. Until then I never heard her sing other than on the CD. She sounded so terrible that we had to turn off the TV. My friend Rachel threw out all the pictures she had of her except one that's still in her room. She only keeps it up because it scares her brother! Mr. Stefani 07-10-2004, 08:59 PM yeah the Avril is a poser trend seems to have died down. Kristina 07-10-2004, 09:23 PM Yes!!! I have been in love with Avril since July 2002. I saw her in concert on April 30th 2003 (a day to remember) in San Jose and I think she sounded good but on TV and stuff her voice kinda cracks a lot. But I really didn't notice anything like that there, I didn't get to meet her so I went home kinda disappointed. I met her band though but she was already inside the building. She's had a huge impact on my life with her music and personality. She's awesome! :D Kristina 07-10-2004, 09:26 PM Originally posted by TradingMooses Have you heard her "cover" of "Chop Suey" by SOAD? Ugh... But yeah she doesn't bother me as much as she used to. Out of her songs, I like "Anything but Ordinary" best. My fav. used to be "Sk8er Boi". Michael [hXc] 07-11-2004, 08:35 AM okay, heres the picture I want as my next avatar. thanks. and if you could put "Avril's Sk8er Boi" on it. vienna waits 07-11-2004, 11:51 AM Originally posted by Kristina Yes!!! If I don't like someone these days, I just ignore them. Mrs. Ducky 07-11-2004, 02:14 PM My friend Leah is obsessed with her. She is always complaining to me because I don't like her. She's always asking me why I don't like her. I tell her I just don't like her voice or the songs she sings. I asked her why she liked her and she wouldn't answer me. Leah is all about trends and she feels that if some people think Avril's cool then they must be right. She started listening to Godsmack all because she wants to be a goth. She asked me who I listened to and I told her who I listened to and she told me that I was stuck in the 90's. She thinks she's so cool. Dean Winchester 07-11-2004, 04:30 PM Avril has some decent songs, but I hate the way she is marketed. She is power-pop... she is NOT a hardcore punk badass. They stylistically rip AIC off and named themselves after one of their songs. In fact, here are the lyrics to the Alice In Chains song "God Smack" from the album Dirt (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDSUB040405311908051257&sql=Akisqoalabijp): God Smack (Cantrell/Staley) Care not for the men who wonder Straw that broke your back, you're under Cast all them aside who care Empty eyes and dead-end stare Don't you know that none are blind To the lie, and you think I don't find What you hide? What in God's name have you done? Stick your arm for some real fun For the horse you've grown much fonder Than for me, that I don't ponder As the hair of one who bit you Smiling bit your own self, too And I think that you're not blind To the ones you left behind I'll be here So be yearning all your life Twisting, turning like a knife Now you know the reasons why Can't get high or you will die Or you'll die So your sickness weighs a ton And God's name is Smack for some As for Advil Lasagna, I'd rather pluck every hair off my body with a broken pair of tweezers than listen to her "music." As opposed to miss mainstream pop princess Avril. Record sales don't mean crap... Thriller is a decent album, but it is NOT the best album of all time. Kristina 07-17-2004, 02:51 AM Avril moved up one spot on TRL today, she was #5. I have a feeling my votes contritbuted to that! Hehe. The show doesn't come on weekends but I'm pretty sure the votes count all weekend. That gives more time to vote and use the autovoter. I was really trying to get her to number one, lord knows she's a lot better than all that crap stuff they play. Everyone vote for her!
