Who else here is an obsessed fan of Avril Lavigne? She has a great voice and I like her new song "Don't Tell Me" a lot.

I've heard her new song and I thought her voice sounds better than it did on her first CD. My friend says she's her idol. I don't like her much. I used to, though.

her "new" song would actually be "My Happy Ending"

I'm over the 'poseur' thing and anyone who isn't needs to get a grip, but i shall never forgive her for butchering metallica's song "fuel" at MTV icon. it was funny.. you could tell by the looks on lars and james' faces they couldn't stand it either. other than that i think she's pretty (actually i always have) and her music is alright. i like her song "unwanted", the lyrics are my life story.

I was a fan of hers until December 31, 2002. I went to my friend's house for New Years Eve and she was on TV. Until then I never heard her sing other than on the CD. She sounded so terrible that we had to turn off the TV. My friend Rachel threw out all the pictures she had of her except one that's still in her room. She only keeps it up because it scares her brother!

I saw her in concert on April 30th 2003 (a day to remember) in San Jose and I think she sounded good but on TV and stuff her voice kinda cracks a lot. But I really didn't notice anything like that there, I didn't get to meet her so I went home kinda disappointed. I met her band though but she was already inside the building.

She's had a huge impact on my life with her music and personality. She's awesome! :D

I remember you hated Avril when she first came out.

I was never a huge Avril fan at first. I liked her song "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi", but now I got her CD and listen to a lot of her songs. But now I am a huge Avril fan.

My friend Leah is obsessed with her. She is always complaining to me because I don't like her. She's always asking me why I don't like her. I tell her I just don't like her voice or the songs she sings. I asked her why she liked her and she wouldn't answer me. Leah is all about trends and she feels that if some people think Avril's cool then they must be right. She started listening to Godsmack all because she wants to be a goth. She asked me who I listened to and I told her who I listened to and she told me that I was stuck in the 90's. She thinks she's so cool.:rolleyes:

Avril has some decent songs, but I hate the way she is marketed.

She is power-pop... she is NOT a hardcore punk badass. To even put her in the same catagory as Wendy O'Williams is an insult because Avril hasn't done anything to place herself in the same catagory with someone like that.

She's not punk anymore. Her style has changed, she's more of a goth now. And if you'll listen to Under My Skin you could tell it's a lot harder and darker compared to Let Go.

Wendy O'Williams died 6 or 7 years ago. Plus, unlike Avril, Wendy hated the mainstream masses and turned down a contract with Capitol so she could do her own thing without having to cater to what the label wanted her to do. As opposed to miss mainstream pop princess Avril.

Record sales don't mean crap... Thriller is a decent album, but it is NOT the best album of all time. MC Hammer sold more albums than Nirvana did, and I don't know anyone who'd say he was better.

The rest of my comments had to do with other things (Godsmack, the quality of music now vs. ten years ago, the ignorance of believing that an artist must not be good if one hasn't heard of them; etc.).

ok back on topic, i read the lyrics to "nobody's home" and i liked it because it reminded me of myself, so i downloaded it. her voice sounds different than it did on let go, but i like it.
