Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 07-07-2004, 09:17 AM Hi. My name is Kelly. I have been reading the posts here since that hoax about Nancy McKeon and I finally decided to post here myself. I need some advice though. Back in Feb., I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. It has been hard to deal with. I am a competetive figure skater since '98 and now they say I have to wait at least 6 months before I can go back. Has anyone ever gone through something similar to this? If you have, do you have any advice for me? Thanks.
~Kelly

i have a nephew that was diagnosed with a seizure disorder; it has been pretty tough for him as they try different medications and such, it has prevented him from working and caused his medical bills to pile up. :(

AllIWantIsYourClutch 07-07-2004, 07:44 PM Hey! Welcome to the boards!
My mom has seizures too. They told her the same thing...6 months. She had to (legally) wait 6 months before she could drive, just in case she had one while driving.

Yep, they tell that to everybody. I have a FOAF (friend of a friend) that has a seizure disorder as well, and whenever he has a seizure, he has to wait 6 months before he can do anything else...It's the standard for everybody w/ seizure disorders.
By the way, :welcome:, Kelly! Enjoy your stay here! :D

wolf paws 07-07-2004, 11:57 PM I already told Kelly this, but my 22 year old brother passed away three years ago from a seizure disorder. He had Grand Mal seizures. They were no fun to watch. He was diagnosed at age 13 and had to take medication everyday. He never knew he was having one, but one of uncle's has them, and can tell when one is coming on. People who have never seen a seizure may laugh, and think they're joking around, but they're not. My brother joked with me, and made the movements like he was having one when he really wasn't. That made me upset. My whole family misses him dearly, just like anyone does when a loved one passes away, but we are doing alright.
:)
