View Full Version : What Should I Do???
G-Force Glockstar 07-03-2004, 08:57 PM Ok, I'm really feeling bad because my babysitter keeps cutting me down about liking Full House and I'm already 13 years old.
She thinks it's weird how I still like Full House and on the computer all the time talking about it. She thinks it's weird that I'm still obsessed with the Olsens too.
And she thinks it's stupid and boring that I wanna go see the Full House HOUSE. And my sisters agree with her...they are kinda bored knowing we have to go see the FH house in San Francisco.
This is really hurting my feelings because I don't know what I should do and why they are being so mean to me about this.
I mean, is there something wrong with wanting to go see the FH house and being obsessed and liking Full House?
What should I do? :(
EmoJoe 07-03-2004, 08:58 PM Tell your parents, and maybe theyll talk to her. Also, ask her to stop and say its hurting your feelings.

My parents already know about it...they say that's just her opinion.
And if I tell her (my babysitter) that it's hurting my feelings, she'll either say "I'm not trying to" or she just won't care.
I don't think she realizes how she's making me feel bad.

Thats why you need to tell her, and maybe she'll stop.

But she still thinks it's weird that I still like Full House and that I wanna go see the FH house. She thinks it would be so boring to go see the FH house.
She use to be a fan of Full House when she was younger, but now she doesn't like it. She thinks it's a baby show.

Its not a baby show. Dont listen to her. Your parents are OK about you watching Full House, and seeing the house, right?

This sounds very familiar. I am a bit in the same boat because my sister calls FH a "baby show" as well, but I am much older than you and your babysitter.
Even if it's your babysitter's opinion, I think she should respect your opinions as well! I mean, it's your hobby, and I see nothing wrong with it at all! You're not dangerlously obsessed or anything. You're just a faithful fan who just wants to visit the FH house and its surroundings. I mean, we're doing the same thing in Sweden for Ace of Base. We're visiting the group's hometown and anything related to the band. And, who knows, we may even run into any of the members which would be nice for us! :D
I think your babysitter may be somewhat jealous you have a hobby you enjoy. She just may not admit it, but my sister was like that too when I first became a fan of Ace of Base. She would make fun of me and knock the group down purposely just to get a rise out of me. Now she knows not to say anything because I won't let it get to me. I know as hard as it may be, but don't let it get to you. She needs to focus on other things. There is NOTHING weird about liking FH or even frequently this board OR going to see the house. You're not endangering anyone, so it's normal. :)

I don't think she's jealous, she's not jealous of anyone or anything.
But I understand that theres nothing wrong with liking Full House or wanting to go see the FH house.

Hmmm... I guess just talk with her about it and mention you just enjoy this show very much. She might have just grown out of it, but it's still always a good show. :)
DukeDevils9192 07-03-2004, 11:31 PM Fact is, Full House is probably the epitome of TV evil. The characters are disgustingly happy, the storylines are overly sappy, and some of the jokes are overly cheesy. But, you know what? It's one of my favorite shows ever and I'm proud to admit that to ANYONE.
I'm an 18 year old guy and while a lot of people I know look at me strange for that, there's a huge Full House fanbase around my parts, guys and girls.
Don't worry about what your babysitter says. It is just her opinion and telling your parents to ask her to stop isn't going to change that opinion. Even if she stops saying it, she won't stop thinking it. Just ignore it. If she thinks it's a baby show, fine.
Full House isn't for everyone. It has a very devoted fanbase, evident by this forum being one of the most active ones on the site, but it's not going to appeal to everyone. No television show appeals to everyone. You'll hear stupid stuff about ever show out there...for instance:
I Love Lucy is too whiney.
All in the Family is for racists.
Sanford and Son is for blacks.
Roseanne is too trashy.
Step by Step is too sex-oriented.
Friends is too unrealistic.
Seinfeld is too stupid.
But all those shows are GREAT in my opinion.
Just ignore what they say and move on. Enjoy the show. Enjoy Uncle Jesse.

I agree. Thanks!
Why do u think she thinks it's weird and boring that I wanna go see the FH house? Maybe it's because she doesn't really like that show anymore.
barb1686 07-04-2004, 10:18 AM I completely understand what you are going through. I was obsessed with the Olsens clear up until I was about 14...well, they're videos are for younger kids but I still liked them. My family thought it was weird that I was in the "fun club", bought their videos, and had a fansite. Just because I was 14 does not mean I cannot be a fan of their work. I didn't think they were top-notch performers but I loved them...I looked up to them. I've recently started catching up with their career and even their personal lives, but I'm not a huge fan of their work. I did see New York Minute and that movie was pretty good (no singing YAH! lol) Anyways....
Another experience that has recently been happening is that I love Saved by the Bell...I have since it first aired. But my family and friends thing it's weird that I still love the show and they think I'm too obsessed. Again, I spend my money on the new DVD's, I have a fansite, and not too long ago I traveled 3.5 hours to meet Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) for a 2 hour long Saved by the Bell presentation (which was awesome). But my family and friends think that I shouldn't have traveled that far just to see a guy who's career is basically over and that he's just talking about a show that's been over for a long time. Well, I enjoyed it very much and it was a very big part of my childhood and still is mainly for that reason...that is was my childhood (and it's funny lol).
What I'm trying to say is...don't let others get you down. There's ALWAYS going to be someone who doesn't like what you like. Maybe it's tv shows, music, clothes, or even picking out a restaurant. You CAN'T let them get to you. You are your own person...just enjoy what you like and don't try to shy away from it just because someone else doesn't. ;) I'm sure there's going to be something in San Fransisco that you don't want to see and the others do....right? Don't worry about it.
Dreamy 07-04-2004, 01:19 PM well, maybe she's that kind of girl who always think that u r too old for stuff like that!!!maybe she was never such a fan of someone...and she doesn't kno how that is!

Exactly. That's what I was trying to say to FullHouse8795. I believe that people who don't have a strong liking of a TV show won't really understand others' fanbase.
I totally agree about the age thing, as well.... :)
Blossom 07-04-2004, 07:51 PM Just tell her about this board (or show her this site) and let your babysitter see how many peoples in different ages who LOVE Full House. I am 17 and love the show and my little brother who turns 13 this year also like the show.
swedeace 07-04-2004, 09:40 PM Great idea, Blossom! ;)
I noticed the babysitter likes to watch Friends and ER. I don't watch those because they just do not appeal to me at all. However, I respect those people who have a strong following for those shows.
