Anyone else live in a dream world?

I feel so pathetic. I'll see an opportunity where I think something good might happen in my life and I go into my dream world and think it'll happen, but it never does. NEVER. I don't know why I bother. I should just always assume the worst and I won't be so depressed.

Sometimes I'm like that too- where I'll think something great could very well happen, and I'll make up whole scenarios of what'll happen- but they never happen! It kinda pushes your expectations and optimism down for everything else.

I live in my own little dream world too. I'll dream about how I would like something to turn out but it usually comes out the opposite. I daydream alot at work too. Reality can sometimes suck.

Of course. I sit back everyday and think "Okay. Maybe something good is gonna happen, finally..."

But does it EVER happen? Am I EVER happy? No. Of course not. I think someone's job out there is to make me miserable, because I truly am. At the end of the school year, a regular 15 year old should be happy school's over, going out and hanging with friends, not a care in the world.. not stuck in rehab.

I think I can relate to these feelings.

I can relate, been living in one most of my life. I'm okay with it.
I'm really not too fond of reality these days.

Maybe your dreams are too perfect. Life isn't like that. There are pro's and con's to everything, and when you dream, you dream of the perfect outcome or the outcome that you would like exactly as you would like it to be. I'd say if you follow through with your dream don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out exactly how you wanted it to.
That curve in the road could lead to better(although maybe different) things.

Uh huh... I do. I don't even think of perfect senerios always. Just things that could happen that would be awesome. It never comes close to turning out. My life has basically been one big dream world for years, and every year it turns out boring. Maybe I should start dreaming about boring ****, and the opposite will come true. ;)

Though I'm an extremely huge pessimist...I like to think something good will come to me one day, some great opportunity that'll make me happy for the rest of my life...but I still have that feeling in the back of my head saying it'll never happen.

I probably do, but they're not unrealistic. It's not like I expect to wake up and win the lottery or have someone offer me a $150K a year job, or for Mr. Right to fall out of the sky. I just want someone to hire me somewhere, for some nice guy to come along and not turn out to be a jerk...

When you're feeling depressed, just focus on things that do make you happy in your everyday life, or try to find something new to take your mind off your sadness, like a new hobby. Self-pity will get you nowhere.

When I was younger and even through some of my teen years, I was living in a dream world. Lot better than what reality was handing me. For so long I had a difficult time dealing with things, so I just sort of.... closed myself off. Was it realistic? Probably not. Did it make me happier? You'd better believe it. And this is coming from someone who has had a life-long reputation of being quite the optimist.

That's when I was in a severe depression. Now things are much better and I'm happier, though I still go that 'dream world' every now and then. ;)

When I was a young girl I was a dreamer. I always walked around with stars in my eyes.

As you go on with life and it's many ups and downs you see that things change. I always tell people to find hobbies. There are so many things to enjoy in life. Life is filled with countless dissapointments. It's up to ourselves to weather it's storms.

My father always tells me i'm living in la la land if i think i want to be a entertainer cause he thinks i'm not a outgoing person & i don't have the drive & determination to make it as a entertainer. When i was young, i dreamed about playing in the NBA cause i play basketball so much & i think i'm pretty good at it. He told me that the odds of making it as a NBA player are very slim cause there's so many people all over the world who wanna be a basketball player too. When he would tell me that, i wouldn't pay him any attention. Now i always think what could've been if i would've tried out for the basketball team in high school. I still believe i'm gonna be a entertainer one day. I don't know what entertainer i'm gonna be but i'm gonna do somethin in entertainment. Entertainment is the only thing i've always wanted to do for a career since i was born. It's just in my blood & i can't see myself doing anything else.

Dream worlds are sort of nice but then they usually let you down in reality. I don't have wild crazy dreams either (on a day to day basis- ultimately I want to be a writer, which is a slightly big dream imo)- just smaller dreams. I hate it that we're basically told at an early age that life will screw you so many times that eventually you'll learn to deal with it rationally. To me, that's the equivalent of your optimism being sanded down as time goes by. I don't like that at all- if people could have the optimism of a child their whole lives, they'd probably live 15 years longer.

This is crazy but I think it would be nice if anyone who would rather live in a dream world could go live in a Stepford/ New Haven Island (Truman Show) place.

Let's face it..Reality can suck; I live in a fantasy land all the time; first, it is fun, and being a creative person, I welcome it:)..of course there are times when I am hard on myself because I do tend to live in lala land, but what the hell, it is my life, and my head..Reality to a lot of people is painful, and day dreaming can be healthy, and lift up your spirits....:)

I think several people have tagged on that I live in a dream world occasionally because few people get my TRUE sense of humour, and I sort of make jokes only I'd probably get. Plus I'm always slightly away- deep in thought at times.

Have any of you seen the remake of 'The Stepford Wives'- for some strange reason I can see why it was all done. If you agree with the 'stepford/new haven island' thing you should see it! We should buy land and rent a space like this- with mild tranquilizers pumped into the water ALL day!

I think some of my problem is that I approach my real life as if it were a piece of fiction and I'm the author. I imagine scenarios in my head and manipulate them...give them different outcomes. So when I'm faced with reality and it doesn't turn out like I had it written, it's a shock.

Reality does suck as well as this world we live in. The only thing worth doing is day dreaming. Day dreaming is exciting because you're in own little world without any limitations. Nevertheless, I suggest we all commit suicide because life doesn't get any better than day dreaming.

Right stop with these selfish notions! If most of you realized what real catastrophy is! Things like living with a serious illness or a serious physical handicap. You sound like a bunch of spoiled little brats! I know that there are real mental problems out there (which I admit are serious) but some of you I expect are real drama queens. Sorry, but you have to admit it's true!:p

Ok, let me have it!;)

Would you quit saying that?
