View Full Version : Bubba or Grady?
Sweetbabygirl 06-26-2004, 09:42 PM I loved, loved, LOVED me some Bubba!! He was laid-back and funny in his own way, he reminds me of my grandfather.
My favorite Bubba episodes were Lamont, Is That You? (the 'sissy' bar) and The Blind Mellow Jelly Collection ("I WANT MY DADDY'S RECORDS!!")
Grady on the other hand tried too hard and was annoying as hades....the alleged classic marijuana episode was not funny at all, and I was so glad when Redd Foxx settled his dispute and came back to the show, relieving us of this moron.
Anyway, who did you like better? Bubba or Grady?
nerrad 06-28-2004, 09:26 AM Bubba. Grady tried to act too much like Fred when he was MIA.

Exactly.

I think that is because most of the storylines were already written so they just put Grady in Fred's spot.
Grady does not bother me in these episodes, though I know he should.

I liked Bubba better.
But Grady was ok because he stood out- I never forgot Grady from when I was a kid. But until I saw reruns I didn't remember Bubba.
Orville Kruger 07-03-2004, 07:06 PM I'm a Grady fan all the way!
"Great googlie mooglie!"
"I think I'll sit down and look at a little tele-vizhunn."
Grady, you crazy! (http://www.cafeshops.com/theoddcouple)
magellan333 07-04-2004, 02:33 PM I am happy that we got both and didn't have to chose. Although, I don't think Bubba would have made a good stand-in for Fred while he was on strike.
ss11472 07-06-2004, 07:27 PM I'm not sure what all the negativity is all about? I personally admire Bubba & Grady equally with the highest esteem. They were a pair of costars that were instrumental in the functionality and pure genuine comedy of the show. They were both great in their own way and filled two vital niches necessary for the success of the show. They were ideal pigeons for Fred's comedy routine & they both meant a lot to Fred. Don Bexley is resting in heavonly peace & I wish Whitman Mayo continued good health.

Oh stop, you know everyone is passionate about their favorite characters, shows, whatever.....I don't like Grady, never did; however, I was fond of Whitman Mayo who by the way is likely with Don Bexley, as he too is dead.
jekouptown 07-07-2004, 10:49 AM bubba was dumb. unfunny. He didn't have any lines that you can remember...no good..gooogly goo..
no this tv is mine
no fights with esther
no fights with fred
all bubba ever did was need money to get his car from the alimony folks.
at least grady had a check coming.*l*
oldshows 07-15-2004, 09:41 PM I like both Bubba and Grady but I would have to give the edge to Grady. I think Grady did a great job filling in for Fred when Redd Foxx was on strike. The marijuana episode was a classic. One of the all time best episodes of Sanford and Son.
Mr. Television 07-15-2004, 09:45 PM I liked them both but I liked Grady more.:grady:

asiy05 02-02-2011, 11:46 PM Grady. I think he had more character development on the show.
rollo's girl 02-27-2011, 05:02 PM Bubba!!!
"You ain't GOT enough liquor in this house to help me calm MY nerves!!!"
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GreenOvation 07-10-2011, 10:08 PM I totally agree. Grady was funnier than Bubba, and was a better sideman to Fred. I liked Bubba too.

Cloud9 Lorraine 07-13-2011, 10:35 PM I liked both Bubba and Grady, and all Fred's friends. But I'd have to give the edge to Grady. Grady was more versatile and used in different situations. He boarded with the Sanfords, got into a fight with Fred over the tv set, was engaged to ol' "Deputy Dog" Dolly, took over for Fred during Redd's disputes, and was always a part of the gang. Gradys bumbling demeanor was often grist for some very funny scenes.
gilligan fanatic 08-18-2011, 08:21 AM Grady, Bubba was cool too though but he didn't have a catch phrase

I would go with Grady because the audience sees him more but it's a hard choice to make. Bubba has his moments.
Cloud9 Lorraine 03-02-2012, 08:14 PM Grady, Bubba was cool too though but he didn't have a catch phrase
How about, "I want my Daddy's records?"
Sonny Carson 03-23-2012, 08:57 PM How about, "I want my Daddy's records?"
I hear more people say "I Want My Daddy's Records" than I hear them say "Good Goovalie Gook". I heard Scott Van Pelt on Sportscenter say "I Want My Daddy's Records" two years ago and I was LMAO!
I liked Bubba better because he had better one liner's than Grady.
"Hey Fred you got on one of them SUPERMAN SUITES"
Lamont Sanford: This is a pea coat.
Bubba: Did you know that when you bought it?
And of course
"I Want My Daddy's Records"

Great minds think alike. I agree 100%.
