Having that second airing of I Dream of Jeannie at 5 in the morning does suck but at least it's an extra airing.

- Knight Rider's Kitt
- the Monkee's Monkeemobile
- Fonzie's motorcycle
- the Munster's car (whatever it was)
- the Beverly Hillbilly's old jalopy

TV LAND CHRONICLES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF DICK VAN PATTEN WHEN NETWORK PRESENTS
LIVING IN TV LAND: DICK VAN PATTEN

Tim Conway, Jack Klugman, Alan Thicke, Bernie Koppell and Others Featured in Original Special on Wednesday, August 18

Santa Monica, CA, July 19, 2004 - TV Land continues to roll out its slate of originals this summer and invites viewers to spend a day in the life with one of television's most recognizable stars when it premieres Living in TV Land: Dick Van Patten on Wednesday, August 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Living in TV Land follows Classic TV stars away from the sound stages and studios, outside the roles that made them famous and in the roles of their daily lives when they are not acting. This initial installment of "Living in TV Land" centers around veteran actor, Dick Van Patten, as he goes to the racetrack with long-time friends Jack Klugman and Tim Conway, spends the day playing tennis with Alan Thicke and Bernie Koppell and attends a Classic TV poker tournament with instantly recognizable TV stars including Barry Williams, Susan Olsen, Ted Lange and Jeff Conaway. The special also features interviews with Van Patten's wife, Pat, and his sons Jimmy, Vince and Tim. The series is developed and executive produced for TV Land by TV Land executive, Sal Maniaci, and is being produced by Craig J. Nevius ("Black Scorpion") of Windmill Entertainment. The show will repeat on Saturday, August 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

"Dick Van Patten is one of the most well-liked stars on television," explains Sal Maniaci, Vice President, Development and Production, TV Land. "We wanted to invite viewers to see what Dick Van Patten is really like, away from the cameras, as we capture his love of life, his penchant for betting and his sense of humor."

TV Land Productions was created in 2003 to create original programming that complements the network's successful acquired programming slate. TV Land Productions is headed by Sal Maniaci, Vice President of Development and Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite. In addition to this production, TV Land Productions has also produced The TV Land Awards Show: A Celebration of Classic TV (March 2003 and 2004) and the Emmy-nominated The Dick Van Dyke Show, Revisited, the network's first original special for broadcast, which premiered on CBS in May before being shown on TV Land. Two thumbs up for the Wings and Family Ties marathons. It's nice that those shows are finally going to see the light of day, even if it's for a short time (marathons never last long).

And for all those who hate "modern" classics, eat your heart out. (There's no point in being nice anymore :p)

The schedule is "supposed" to last until Friday, October 1. Let's see if that happens. Hunter joins the line-up after its Oct 2-3 marathon. I'm guessing it'll take MacGyver's 1 PM slot and maybe Cheers's 12-1AM slot. It'll be interesting if All in the Family will be on in October, since it expires at the end of September. 50/50 chance I think, of renewal. Since it does well.

If anyone noticed: Carol Burnett and Flip Wilson are just reduced to weekends. Bob Newhart is gone earlier than we thought. Kids Say is gone.

With Season 3 on DVD.... its a sure bet that the complete series will be out eventually, so, like many others Im sure -- I think its time something else gets a chance.

I think that might be even more confusing. MortysTV.com and ClassicTVHits.com make grids out of my schedules, so that is nice. Here is ClassicTVHits.com's grid for the FULL lineup: http://www.classictvhits.com/schedules/tvland/04/august14.htm

My Thoughts on This Schedule:

- Good to see Wings and Family Ties getting exposure.
- I do not see TV Land bringing any more variety shows to the line-up with Carol Burnett and Flip Wilson on their last legs.
- Glad they kept the originals on Saturday mornings.
- I would like to see Happy Days at a better time than 4:30am.
- Great to see Cheers back in the midnight hour, I like watching it right after Three's Company.
- While I love Cheers I think something else should be shown at 3:30am. I hate it when channels repeat shows later on schedules and only repeat one of the episodes.
- I can already see all the I Love Lucy complaints on the TV Land messageboards.
- Surprising to see Andy Griffith no longer in the 10pm slot- don't see that lasting for too long.
- Hopefully All in the Family will get renewed. It looks as if TV Land is kind of testing it by airing it at 10:30pm and 1:00am.

GOOD:
Weekday marathons, especially Family Ties and Wings
Kid's Say.... is gone.
The Primetime Lineup (7:00PM-11:00PM)

BAD:
Less Carol Burnett and Flip Wilson.
Gunsmoke and Bonanza are still on.
The Bob Newhart Show is leaving early. :(
Three's Company overkill. Its the most played show on TVLand, AND it will still air on N@N.

The only changes I would make would be....

11:30PM Family Ties
-------------------------------------
12:30AM I Love Lucy
-------------------------------------
2:30AM Mister Ed

Which means the death of double-takes.

As for The Dick Van Dyke Show.... it could never air on TVLand again, and Id be perfectly happy.

My Thoughts:

~ The marathons are nice but WHY those shows... I would love it if it was like Jeannie, Bewitched, Lucy, DVD and Happy Days but the shows they picked aren't worth watching many in a row, although it is nice to see Wings actually get a reasonable timeslot somewhere

~ I Love Lucy only 5 days a week *tear*

~ So Addams Family is only on Tuesdays and Sundays and Carol Burnett/Flip Wilson only on weekends if I read correctly... interesting

~ Way too much Gunsmoke and Bonanza on weekends

~ I was really hoping I'd never see Sanford and Son and All in the Family in prime time again

Overall, I like the current schedule much better

My Thoughts:

~ The daily marathons are nice, but not the specific shows they chose for them.

~ The reduction of I Love Lucy is a major disappointment. And the move back to 10am doesn't help any.

~ More Three's Company??? Great!

~ Sad to see Happy Days and Brady Bunch in a wee hour of the morning. They deserve much better.

~ Nice to see The Munsters and Sanford & Son back in prime-time.

~ I'm not surprised to see The Addams Family being taken off from the prime-time block. From the beginning, I just knew it wouldn't last long there.

~ I sure wish TV Land would stop with the TAGS/Beaver catering. It's getting old.

Overall, I don't like this schedule. The current schedule is much better than this one.

TVLand is pulling a "Mister Ed" trick with Flip Wilson. The damn show hasn't even been on two months and already is reduced to weekends only and it never got an airing in prime time. God this channel gets worse by the day. As for "modern classics", personally I think this is an oxymoron. I'm sure many will disagree with me on that one. TVLand needs to get more B&W shows from the 1950's and early 1960's. First N@N goes to crap and now TVLand is heading that way (albeit more slowly at least).
I get tired of losing my shows to newer ones on every stinking channel. If they would just release shows like Ann Sothern, My Three Sons, Patty Duke, Dobie Gillis and Mister Ed on DVD I wouldn't have to worry about TV anymore. As for Any Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Brady Bunch, and Happy Days: if I never see another episode it won't be too soon for me. Just my opinions, not worth a hill of beans, I know.

Wings does not belong on TVLand, plain and simple, no debate. Wings is a 'modern classic.' NAN is the channel that airs 'modern classics.' It explains itself! This was a STUPID move, imo. Family Ties can stay but Wings has to go. As much as I love TC, it is being horribly overplayed, and I hope TC doesn't spawn an S at the end, if you get my drift.

I don't get the big deal? It's only gonna be on one day a week for a couple hours on TVLAND, I don't see the harm. It's not like they've added Wings to the lineup

If they are airing it one day a week for a couple of hours, it is on the lineup...

Wings is treated terribly on Nick@Nite and its nice to see TV Land giving it some respect. I dont think theres a need to complain about it

Would you want NAN to start airing reruns of "Survivor" twice a night? No, you don't. Because Survivor doesn't belong on NAN, just like "Wings" doesn't belong on TVLand.

NAN and TVL have everything all wrong. "Wings" doesn't belong on TVL and "Three's Company" doesn't belong on NAN. WNG should get TC's Monday night marathon slot. TC shouldn't necessarily get WNG's TVLand slot, because TC is aired enough on TVLand. TVLand can use that space for a show that they have buried in the graveyard slots or one of the weekend-only shows like "Carol Burnett" or "Flip Wilson."

It makes me so mad when poeple say that. First of all, it's called TVLand. TVLand!!! Not SitcomLand! Not ComedyLand! >>TV<< Land! Dramas are TV, are they not? I do think that "Gunsmoke" should leave though, it's been on the channel long enough. "Bonanza" airs too much and should be downsized. "The Waltons" can stay where they are at, or they could replace the afternoon "Bonanza" slot with it.
I think TVLand should focus on picking up more classic dramas actually. They air the same sitcoms over and over again, the same shows that were on NAN, and that were on TBS back in the day. They should start airing dramas that are hardly aired. And I mean popular, long-running dramas and mysteries, like "Hart to Hart," "Falcon Crest," "Family," "Eight is Enough," or "Police Woman." I'm not saying they should overrun the schedule with dramas and the such, but they should at least dedicate 1/3 to dramas, because dramas are just as much a big part of TV history as sitcoms are. I wouldn't mind if they started airing a classic game show or soap here or there either.

There's a big difference between Survivor and Wings. Wings is almost 15 years old, yes it's more of a modern tv classic, but it's not like it debuted 2 years ago, I never knew there was a limit on how old a show had to be to be on TVLAND. I'm not saying they should go out and add Dharma and Greg or Will and Grace or something, but it's not like Wings is new or anything.

Besides what is it hurting, it's one day a week, for what a month? geesh, the world's gonna stop because TVLAND had the audacity to air a show once a week for a short time

I doubt you will ever see gameshows on TVLAND IMO that's what GSN is for, and you will never see any soaps on TVLAND that's what soapnet is for

For the love of God will you people please stop telling me that soaps belong on SOAPnet? TVLand has already aired "Mary Hartman" and "Homefront," and they both were serialized!

Why don't we just leave all sitcoms and variety shows to Comedy Central then? What would TVLand air?! IT'S CALLED TVLAND! >>TV<<LAND!!!! TVLAND!!!! THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AIR TV SHOWS! Not just sitcoms or just dramas, but ALL OF THEM.

And regards to Wings, I do think it is too new for TVLand. I think any show that premeired after 1990 is too new for TVLand, but perfect for NAN.

At this point in time -- TVLand SHOULD only air Sitcoms and Dramas.... because their is no channel specifically for them.
Whereas Soaps and Gameshows have SOAPnet and GSN.

If their was a network made specifically for dramas or sitcoms -- then by all means air everything on TVLand, but until then -- stick with sitcoms and dramas only.

Personally I would rather see my older soaps on SOAPnet uncut, than to be on TVLAND and be butchered to pieces in the editing process. People bitch that TVLAND doesn't show enough old sitcoms from like the 50's and such, if they added soaps and game shows, that would take away from that.

Comedy Central is not a sitcom network. If there was a sitcom network(hopefully someday there will be) then I would say most sitcoms should be on their no matter how old they are.

I guess you want to see soaps on TVLAND butchered to death than watch it on SOAPnet uncut

Besides TVLAND said they would never air any soaps, primetime or daytime at all. If you don't get SOAPnet, request it from your cable co. or get satellite is all I can suggest :)

I guess you're right, but I still think that TVLand should try other things than the same old sitcoms.

And, God, if I had SOAPnet, I would never ever request TVLand air them. I know TVLand would butcher them and all that crap, but hey, I'd rather have 'em butchered than not at all...

I personally am not a Soap fan, but for what I know -- SOAPnet gives the best treatment (of any channel) to classic shows.

Yeah, and I've been wanting it for 2 1/2 years now! It took me 4 years to get TVLand, so I wonder if SOAPnet will take this long...

I think that TV Land should show shows that began in the 60s & 70 and Nick @ Nite should show shows that began in the 80s & 90s.Or vice versa
