View Full Version : Brian Bonsall arrested fro DUI
theshark8777 06-02-2004, 04:50 PM I just found this, i don't know if anyone else heard it or not. I was kinda surprised to read this was his second time.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Brian Bonsall, the youngest member of the Keaton clan on television's "Family Ties," was arrested last week on suspicion of drunken driving.
Bonsall, 22, was arrested early Friday by police who said they saw someone vomit out the passenger side window of his car. Asked how much he had to drink, Bonsall responded, "Plenty," then failed a roadside test.
Police said a blood test showed he had "excess alcohol content" but did not disclose the exact amount.
Bonsall, who lives in Boulder, starred as Andy Keaton for three seasons on the NBC sitcom in the late 1980s that helped launch the career of Michael J. Fox. Bonsall later appeared in episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and the 1993 film "Father Hood."
Bonsall was convicted of drunken driving in 2001 and his license was suspended, police said.

You cant make this stuff up.
Pretty funny.
Though DUI is no laughing matter, I just meant that answer certainly is humorous.
Man, Worf must be so disappointed.
There is no honor in driving drunk.

Skywalker 06-02-2004, 07:41 PM I saw him a while back on some sort of "where are they now segment" . He has all sorts of piercings on his face, he looks like a punk.
Kirstie 06-02-2004, 08:21 PM Aww, that's sad. He's supposed to be that cute, little, Alex-worshipping kid.

Yeah, while this is sad, it is not surprising. He is just about a freak now anyway.

Well he certainly isn't anymore.

Yep. I guess people can't stay little, innocent kids forever.

actually, I don't think Brian's path as an adult is any different than Tina's choice to be a rocker. I saw Brian on an E! Where Are They Now special not too long ago and he seems like a pretty cool guy. He really does care about the punk lifestyle, which you can't fault. Seems a lot more down to earth and someone you'd wanna be friends with than most other former child stars.

Well I do fault anybody who subscribes to the "punk lifestyle." Nothing good socially comes from that kind of life or behavor. I also am disappointed in Tina for her "rocker life," but you can't do anything about either one. It is a shame that so many child stars end up on bad paths.

what's so wrong about it? Not everyone is going to be a doctor or lawyer as an adult. Music is Brian's true calling, calling punks "freaks" is not cool. Just because you don't understand the way of life doesn't mean they're freaks. Hell, it is cooler that someone who started out in the industry has rebelled and is underground, as opposed to catering to the Disney/TRL market like other "former child stars" like Raven-Symone, The Olsen Twins and all the former Mickey Mouse Club artists (Britney, Justin, Christina, etc...).
At least Brian seems authentically punk, as opposed to somebody like Avril Lavigne who proclaims to the world how hardcore she is, when she's basically Britney Spears with a guitar.
There are worse things Brian Bonsall could do, he could've wound up a scary Bible-thumper like Kirk Cameron or Lisa Whelchel (I love Facts Of Life but she does kinda scare me with her ultra-ultra-religious attitude... I know Justine Bateman's religious, but she doesn't have a holier thou art attitude like Kirk does) has, yikes! You might think "what's wrong with that?", but I feel the same way about nothing wrong with Brian Bonsall and Tina Yothers deciding to be rockers instead of pursuing bad commercialized computerized pop crap like most child-stars-turned-singers do.

Basically I take serious offense to you defending the "punk lifestyle" while criticizing religous former child stars as "bible-thumpers." And anybody that would decorate their body with as many tatoos and piercings as Brian Bonsall is a freak to me. Just a difference of opinion.
theshark8777 06-04-2004, 07:45 PM If it's not your body, why do you even care?

Because just thinking about yourself is selfish. I think its sad he is a drinker. It could ruin his life forever.:(

there's a difference between someone who is religious, and someone who is a Bible-thumper. Justine Bateman and Margaret Cho (I am a huge fan of hers and she became a Born-Again Christian a few years ago) are both Christians, both very religious, but neither of them have a I'm-holier-than-you attitude. On the other hand, Kirk Cameron had an actress fired from Growing Pains when he found out she was a Playboy bunny. I mean, I am sure if you asked 100 heterosexual 19 year old men (as Kirk was 19 at the time) if they would give their left testicle to play the boyfriend of a bunny on tv, 85-90 of them would say yes without giving it any thought. But Kirk was so "morally offended" by it that she lost her job because she stripped for Playboy a few years earlier, because he refused to continue playing her boyfriend on television. I think it's good to be religious, but people like Kirk Cameron and Lisa Whelchel take it too far to the point it annoys people, even tho I commend Lisa for respecting the Blair character enough NOT to have the writers ruin the character on the reunion movie (whereas Kirk decided to make Mike on the reunion a mirror image of Kirk circa 2000... which is completely different from the role he played on the show)
Once again, it comes down to difference of opinion. As long as any of them, whether playing rock music, or becoming really ultra-religious, or whatever, are being true to themselves, good for them. I am just glad that Tina and Brian decided NOT to sell out to the Radio Disney market whereas a former child star like Raven-Symone did. Tina Yothers at 31 is sooooo much cooler than the grown-up Olsen twins are, she didn't sell out to try to stay trendy like they did
Jeff1970 06-13-2004, 01:11 PM Sorry to hear about Brian's troubles these days. I hope he gets help for his alcohol problems and gets his life straightened out. I always thought he was pretty cool in different shows and movies I've seen him in.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the CD his band The Late Bloomers released in 2001? I'd love to check it out. Sounds like a pretty local release though. It's mentioned here:

When some people first become Christians, they are filled with a new prospective and overflowed with joy, and I think Kirk wanted to share that with everyone he knew. He wanted to make the right choices and be a good example to the teens watching Growing Pains, and also have Mike making the right choices. I don't think Kirk realized that he was hurting the cast, and the show. He was just doing what he thought needed to be done to witness. And I think after time went on and he understood the Bible deeper, he realized he was witnessing in the wrong way. By telling someone, "You're a bad person, here's a Bible." is not the way to share your faith, and I don't think he knew that is what he was doing. I understand what Kirk was going through, it is hard, especially in Hollywood, to witness. Now I don't think he is like that. He witnesses, but doesn't throw it at people. If you watch the E! Celebrity profile of him, you can see that he is not as bad as he was protrayed by some of the people from Growing Pains. Though Tracy spoke well of him, some of the others were hurt and saw a different side of him that they had not earlier seen and I think it made them upset.
