Seeing how the show got worse each season (But the first four seasons were all still hysterical) I'll pick the last two seasons.

Seasons 8 and 9 weren't very good. Season 8 had some very strange stories like Archie getting addicted to pills, Edith almost getting raped, and the most bizarre one of them all, Archie joining the KKK. I did like 2 episodes from season 8: Super Bowl Sunday and The Stivics Go West. Season 9 was a waste of time with that little brat Stephanie plus the Stivics were gone.

I'm surprise you feel that way since you were such a Archie Hater. So you disliked Archie Bunker and James Evans. Just Curious, did you like Mr. Jefferson?

I'm curious too. How did a thread about the seasons of All In The Family on the All In The Family board turn into a discussion of Good Times and The Jeffersons?

Because you had a problem with the strong father figure on All in the Family, and the strong father figure on Good Times, so i was wondering did you feel the same about the strong father figure who lived NEXT DOOR to the Bunkers.

Strong father figures are men like Ward Clever and Cliff Huxtable. Archie was an ignorant bigot and James was an abusive loud mouth. In any case, I don't see what this has to do with the original thread.

Cliff was passive. Also you said all the seasons was great and i asked why did you enjoy the last season since there was only Archie, Edith, and Stephanie.

Cliff was not passive; he was sane. I liked the last season of All In The Family because it was good. Also, Archie redeemed himself, to a certain extent, for his cruelty towards Edith and hatred of minorities in the past.

Does Nick-at-Nite show the season that is both "All in the Family" and "Archie Bunker's Place"?

I can't pick 2 but the last one was clearly not as good as the others. The 2 part episode in California was about the best thing about that year. The other years to me have entertaining moments in any given episode.

There was never a season when AITF and ABP was the same season. AITF ended in the spring of 1979 and ABP started in the fall of 1979

Season 7. It looked like the show was on its last legs. But came back in season 8. Season 9 with Stephanie was not very good at all.

Howard Cunningham was a good father. Ward Cleaver was annoying. The whole show was annoying.

When people tell me that Edith Bunker was ignorant I usually say, "really? what about Gracie Allen?"

Season 9: The Stivics were gone and they brought in Stephanie, she was a cute kid, however, I miss the arguments between Mike and Archie.

There are only two episodes from season 9 that I would watch. The two episodes when the Bunkers go to California to see Mike and Gloria. Other than that, i'm not interested in any other episode

I think the Stivics appeared only twice during the 78-79 season

They only appeared in a two part Christmas episode during that season.

Seasons 8 and 9 were the worst seasons of All In The Family. I hate every single episode from those seasons. Many of the episodes were very unnecessary and should of never been done. I will give you a few episodes from Season 8 that were uncalled for: The episode where Edith was attacked by a rapist, the episode where Archie was addicted to pills, the episode where Beverly was killed and Edith was depressed and lost her religion, the KKK episode, and the episode where Mike and Gloria left for California and everyne was in tears. That is all I could think of to make a long story short. From Season 9, one of the worst was the one where Edith was fired from the Sunshine Home for letting a woman die with dignity and the two part California Christmas episode. All of these episodes were unnecessary and this was the wrong show to have such topics like rape, addiction, etc to be written into the show. They were making it to much like a drama when it was a comedy that you culd laugh at loud at. Also, Archie was too mellow and like a sadsack especially when little Stephanie came along. I did not like her at all, nothing could replace Mike and Gloria.

I loved the first 7 seasons. There were many great hilarious episodes that you could watch over and over again. There is only one episode that I hated and that was unnecessary. That was the episode from the fourth season when it is Christmas and Edith had breast cancer. What was the purpose of this episode? This was a comedy, not a tearjerker drama. It was the wrong idea to make a character as ditzy as Edith the Dingbat deal with serious issues like rape, breast cancer, depression and loss of religion, to name a few. And for the blustery loudmouth Archie. T make him deal with serious issues like addiction, turning into a sadsack for Stephanie to name a few, was wrong also. The directing and writing was bad in these episodes. They must of had nothing better to write about.

TVLand should skip the last two seasons of All In The Family and should also skip the breast cancer episode "Edith's Christmas Story". These are not examples of Classic TV.

But for even worse, watch Archie Bunker's Place. That is worse than the last 2 seasons of All In The Family.

I just never saw the point of adding Stephanie to the cast when the show was an adult comedy to start with. It was never in the family comedy category so why turn the show into that type of comedy in the last season?

I wouldn't buy the first season at all. I won't buy the AITF DVD until season 4 is release

Personally I found that a lot of things happened throughout season 8,but at the same time,it seemed that the series was starting to slip out of it's popularity and running out of steam.
