View Full Version : Reunion Special
ontheroof 05-19-2004, 01:44 PM At the up-fronts for CBS today, it was mentioned that a reunion is coming up next season.
"The "One Day At A Time" reunion will bring together original cast members Bonnie Franklin, Pat Harrington Jr., Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli who will reminisce about their days together on the popular, long-running comedy about a single mother trying to raise two teenaged daughters. Vintage clips from the series will highlight the special."
If the special is successful in the ratings, I would bet that a cable network will start running the show again.
vhshunter 05-20-2004, 01:15 AM If it does good in the ratings. Maybe they will put it on dvd.
I saw Valerie on tv with her son. This show hasn`t been on in so long. Her son has never seen 1 episode. They said all he has ever seen is still photographs of the cast together.
vze3t9q9 05-20-2004, 09:04 AM It was a so so show for me. Valerie was married when the show was in production. Gosh must be 20 years ago she tied the knot. I did hear she and Eddie are apart. Wolf her son must be in his teens.
glenny 05-20-2004, 11:51 AM I find it hard to believe that her son has never seen a episode. Valerie or someone in her family must have taped them.

The show started in 75. It hasn`t been in syndication in years. Not as many people had vcrs in 84.
mstewart 05-22-2004, 01:14 PM Kudos to CBS in wanting this reunion to happen.
Especially for MacKenzie Phillips participating in this reunion. I am proud to see how well she is doing in her recovery of her addiction. She looks fabalous and her acting is still tops. She was the heart of One Day At A Time. The episodes featuring her moved the show in a powerful way.
Anyhow I am looking forward to Bonnie, MacKenzie, Valerie and Pat getting together and look back at a show that I consider a classic and groundbreaking.

It hasn't been that long. It was syndicated on local channels after 1984 and it was on E during the 1990's.
boechsner 05-23-2004, 12:55 AM This is great news. Hopefully this will revive interest in the show and it will be brought back to some cable channel.
Media Lover 08-14-2004, 06:49 PM I can hardly wait to see this reunion special.I loved the One Day At A Time series.
vashti1999 09-21-2004, 12:49 PM They'll probably have the reunion special around the same time as the dvd release. I hope Glenn Scarpelli appears on the special, I'd like to see what he looks like now.
Media Lover 09-21-2004, 03:18 PM Yeah I had a crush on Glenn Scarpelli.Incidently, does anyone know exactly when the reunion special is supposed to air?
snl75 09-24-2004, 09:56 PM i saw glen last year on one of those where are they now shows remarkablay he really hasant changed all that much he still had that quaver in his voice by the way does anybody remember glens apperances on a talk/game show called fantasy hosted by peter marshall?
When is the reunion special going to air?
"The Amazing Race 6" will conclude with a two-hour finale on Tuesday, Feb. 8. A Dr. Phil special and a "One Day at a Time" reunion show will fill the time period on the two Tuesdays between the finale and "The Amazing Race 7's" premiere.
So it airs probably February 22nd on CBS.

ONE DAY AT A TIME REUNION SPECIAL will reunite original "One Day at a Time" cast members Bonnie Franklin, Valerie Bertinelli, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington to reminisce about their days together on Norman Lear's popular, long-running comedy about a single, divorced mother raising two teenage daughters, on Tuesday, Feb. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Vintage clips from the series will highlight the special.
In the reunion special, Bonnie Franklin (Ann Romano), Valerie Bertinelli (Barbara Cooper) and Mackenzie Phillips (Julie Cooper) reminisce about their days on the series that mirrored what was happening in society in the 1970s. They discuss the serious issues the show addressed -- divorce, teen sex, peer pressure and marriage -- as well as the fashion and hairstyles worn at the time and how their on-screen struggles often reflected what was happening in their off-screen lives. Pat Harrington, (Dwayne Schneider) also joins them to talk about how his character protected the three women, his outrageous entrances into the Romano apartment and Schneider's secret crush on Ann.
In separate interviews, recurring cast members Richard Masur (David Kane), Shelley Fabares (Francine Webster), Nanette Fabray (Grandma Katherine Romano), Michael Lembeck (Max Horvath) and Glenn Scarpelli (Alex Handris) share their feelings about their time on the show and their characters' relationships with Ann, Barbara and Julie.
ONE DAY AT A TIME, which ran on CBS from 1975-1984, followed Ann Romano, who moved with her two teenage daughters, Julie and Barbara Cooper, back to her hometown of Indianapolis to start fresh after her divorce. The three of them take on life challenges and learn to make it on their own by taking things one day at a time.
ONE DAY AT A TIME REUNION SPECIAL was produced by Planet Grande Pictures in association with Grossbart Kent Productions. Jack Grossbart ("Heartless"), John Watkin ("The Andy Griffith Reunion: Back to Mayberry") and Eamon Harrington ("The Andy Griffith Reunion: Back to Mayberry") are the executive producers. John Watkin directed the special.
Brian Damage 01-18-2005, 11:57 PM I'm glad to see this show start to make a comeback.

I am excited about one of my all time favorite shows getting back together. The big thing I am excited about is MacKenzie Phillips being with Bonnie and Valerie for the reunion special. Mack looks great and she seems happy with her life. I am glad she is a recovering addict and is actively involve in that issue so others will not go down the road she went. We are blessed to have her still with us, healthy and back to acting. MacKenzie Phillips is a great actress and she brings a lot to whatever she does on screen.
The original cast back. That calls for a celebration. I will have champagne for the occasion :p
dandelion wine 01-19-2005, 10:17 PM I'm excited about this, too. Can't wait to see it! :)
Scoobiedoo30 01-20-2005, 03:00 AM I am looking forward to watching The One Day at a Time Reunion Special and seeing what they all been upto since The Show ended.
ClassicTV4Ever 01-21-2005, 11:27 PM I'm excited about this, too. Can't wait to see it! :)
Isn't it awesome? And it's already only a month away. I plan on recording it and hopefully it will tide me over until the first season DVD comes out (if Sony would get their butts in gear and announce a release date already).
BTW, I love your Valerie Bertinelli avatar. I just love her :)
TeeVeeCloset 01-24-2005, 03:49 PM No Boyd Gaines or howard hessmann for the reunion show???? not that I'll be missing them at all, most of the cast thought that both marriages on the show were mistakes......Mark Royer was truly not good enough for the perfect, angelic, adorable, sexy Miss Barbara Cooper aka the above mentioned Valerie Bertinelli....my teenage crush will never fade.....

Yes it is! I wish they'd hurry up and release it, too. Once the reunion comes around, I'll be taping it too. I'm really excited about it. :)
Thank you! :) That one picture is a favorite of mine and even though I have Tuesday Weld in now, I'll have Valerie Bertinelli back sometime soon. :)
Sorry this reply is late. :(
mstewart 02-16-2005, 12:12 AM Another thing that is going to be great about the reunion how it shows that the past is the past. I am glad to see MacKenzie and Valerie reconciled from all that happened during the show. Watching them on Entertainment Tonight shows that they had put all what happened behind. This has been a long awaited reunion and the cool thing about is the original cast are still alive and healthy.

You are absolutely right. Its great that they can put the past behind them and that they are all still with us. I had hoped that Three's Company could have had a reunion like this but Joyce and Suzanne couldn't reconcile and now that John's dead that won't happen. I am so glad that MacKenzie is better now. I saw her in 90210, Melrose Place and even Guiding Light a few years ago. On 2 of those shows she was helping people with a drug or alcohol problem. Its great she's getting out the message that you can survive from this sort of thing. She is an inspiration.
