[Unhooks syringe.] Fleet 05-13-2004, 09:50 PM My blood type is 0 positive. I found this out when I donated blood to the Red Cross. Type 0 is the most common, but it's also the most in demand. According to a pamphlet I got in the mail, 0 positive can be transfused to more than 85% of the population (0 positive, 0 negative, B positive, B negative and AB positive). 0 negative blood types can be transfused to anyone, any blood type. Also according to the Red Cross, donating blood saves up to 3 lives. And, only 3% of people who qualify to donate do so. That's why I am going to set up another appointment to donate for next Monday at a local church. robyrob 05-13-2004, 09:52 PM A positive. Wow Fleet, something else we have in common! I'm an O+ but I can't donate blood anymore :( I've lived overseas for more than a year and am anemic. Stinks. cakeisgood 05-15-2004, 05:46 PM Mine is AB positive. My blood is pretty cool. Michael [hXc] 05-15-2004, 09:45 PM My mother's is AB positive. I get the B positive from my maternal grandmother. InspectorExstead 05-15-2004, 10:03 PM I have absolutely no clue what my blood type is, but I've always wondered. I've always meant to ask during a blood test, but I get so freaked out that I forget to. There's a red cross blood drive coming up soon (and since I'm now 17), I can donate. So, I'll have to ask them what I am. Fleet 05-15-2004, 11:37 PM Originally posted by Liza I'm an O+ but I can't donate blood anymore :( I've lived overseas for more than a year and am anemic. Stinks. Anemic? What type of anemia do you have? (Aplastic, Folic-acid deficiency, Hemolytic, Iron deficiency or Pernicious [B-12 deficiency]?) Most types are curable, or at least treatable. I have only 1 in the last 2 years since leaving, in Canada there is not any drop ins you have to book in advance. Things just seem to slip and I forget but this post reminded me and will be booking a appt for next week. It is a great gift especially if you ever have someone close to you who ever needs blood, shows you how important giving is. Thanks for the reminder guys Cheers Yooch 10-31-2006, 01:10 AM O pos AllIWantIsYourClutch 10-31-2006, 03:12 AM I don't remember. O something, I think. Not something I have mustered up the courage to do, what made you do it? A friends family are all donors because one of the youngest kids was fighting leukemia (5 years in remission thanks to marrow donors). A friends family are all donors because one of the youngest kids was fighting leukemia (5 years in remission thanks to marrow donors). My best friend had Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma. She went thru all the rounds of chemo and such. Finally they treated her white blood cells and replanted them in her. She has been cancer free for 7 years now. On the 5th anniversary of her remission, I decided to register. The actual registration itself is painless. When you give blood they simply take an extra vial of blood. That's it. If I can save another life, then I can stand the pain. I went thru labor and eventually a C-Section, so I figure that can't be much worse.... LOL!!
