View Full Version : Frasier, Friends, or Everybody Loves Raymond?
Chocoholic 04-28-2004, 05:34 PM Frasier- I loved the Frasier Crane character on Cheers and I liked Frasier the show the first couple of seasons, but I lost interest. I'll miss the Frasier Crane character though and I hope Kelsey Grammer gets another show soon. Maybe he can do a show with his Simpsons character, Sideshow Bob :D
Everybody Loves Raymond- I used to love this show, but now I cringe when I see it on. None of the characters have anything nice to say and it's the same jokes over and over again.
Friends- I know it's been on for a decade and has many fans, I don't argue with that. However, I personally never had much interest in it.
Ant-Lox 04-29-2004, 09:03 AM Frasier is my favorite out of the three
I hate raymonds voice after a while.
barwars 04-29-2004, 03:35 PM "Frasier" -- my second favorite show of all time, only to its parent -- Cheers. The biggest loss to TV since "Seinfeld", IMO.
"Friends" -- no doubt its a good show -- I just think "friends dont let friends watch friends"
"Everybody Loves Raymond" -- I dont know what GOOD to say about this show, one of my least favorites (along with friends)
Dean Winchester 04-29-2004, 03:47 PM Friends, then Frasier (it's a good show, I just never liked Frasier as much in Seattle as I did in Boston, I liked Lillith better than Frasier Crain) and then Raymond. I think people who say Friends is the most overrated series on television need to look at Raymond. At least Friends has an attractive cast (as ugly as David Schwimmer is, he's still better looking than Ray or Brad) and can be funny.

I agree, although I like neither series -- "Friends" is better.
But some about your post that irritates is that people watch shows just because good looking people are in them. ("Friends" for example.... when I ask why its better than "Frasier", most people at school will say "because the people are hot" or something like that)
What happened to the days when you could be funny AND ugly?!

well, to me, neither Ray Romano or Brad Garrett are funny, and to top it off they're both not good at look at either. Kelsey Grammar is not exactly the best looking person in the world, but he IS a great comedic actor. I didn't mean that the only reason I dislike ELR is because the cast isn't attractive (I don't think Patricia Heaton is as pretty as Courteney or Jennifer on her best day either), but kind of why I'd give it Friends a slant over it as well, even if one doesn't think either show is funny.
Hell, Roseanne's one of my all time favorite sitcoms, and neither Roseanne (even tho I do think she got a lot better looking in latter seasons) or John Goodman were exactly models.
I liked Frasier best, then Friends and Raymond.
Scoobiedoo30 03-24-2007, 10:26 PM Frasier
Brian Damage 03-24-2007, 10:33 PM Frasier---One of the smartest sitcoms of all time.
catlover79 03-25-2007, 12:04 AM Friends is a show I never particularly cared for. Frasier, I loved it up until Niles and Daphne hooked up. No suspense whatsoever after that. (I still love the first few seasons, though). I do agree that ELR could be very mean-spirited, but the Barones are so much like my family I have to laugh (we're not QUITE as dysfunctional as the Barones, fyi  ). IMHO, Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton were upstaged by the supporting actors: Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle. Marie is so much like my late grandmother, and Robert reminds me of me. I'm taller than average and tower above most people I know, I'm the elder of two sisters and am overshadowed by the younger one, and I've had many a horrible date like Robert has. But once Robert married Amy and her family became more prominent, I lost interest. At least Romano & Co. wisely wrapped up production a season later.
BensonFan 03-25-2007, 12:18 AM I am a huge Frasier fan. Truthfully I've hardly seen the other two at all to say whether I would like them or not.
Adamantium 03-25-2007, 02:46 AM I think they're all good shows and yet all of them lasted too long. I voted for "Everybody Loves Raymond." Just because I can get into the reruns more than I can with "Frasier." And "Friends" even though it's a very popular show, I consider it to me, a guilty pleasure. Maybe it's because I've bashed it for years and then through the DVDs became a fan of it. I don't like just going along with the crowd and watching whatever's popular at the time. But I will admit that it's a funny show. However, I can't stand to watch it on television. If it's not on my DVDs then I don't care to watch "Friends." In other words, I can't just flip through the channels, find "Freinds" and TBS and just start watching it. I have to sit down, get out my DVDs and watch it that way.
icecream 03-26-2007, 12:44 AM Frasier is better than Raymond and Friends combined. Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce are my favorite actors, and the other three cast members are great at their roles. Frasier is my favorite adult oriented sitcom.
Raymond was hit and miss. Some episodes could be really good, and others not so good. Ray Romano's voice is annoying, and the other four cast members are all better actors than him.
I've only seen a few episodes of Friends. It's OK, nothing special.
sunshinefizzy 03-26-2007, 07:41 AM Here are the reaons why I pick Raymond out of the three:
1) I never could get into Friends
2) I don't even remember watching Frasier and to be honest don't care to watch it.
3) Ray and Brad, in my opinion, are not only funny but HOT!!! I would so marry Brad.
4) The Barone family remind me of my own family, in fact both sides!!!
ChanandMon 03-26-2007, 11:54 AM 1. Friends cause of Matthew Perry, I especially love the C&M years
2. ELR
I never liked Frasier.
comedyfreak 03-27-2007, 05:46 AM Friends-the first few years were Laugh Out Loud funny great cast with chemistry
Frasier- I discovered this gem through reruns, I never had a chance to watch during its original run. I like it better than Cheers. The cast has great chemistry together, you could see how Frasier had grown from Cheers to his own show.
mrsmatthewperry 03-31-2007, 06:10 PM Friends is #1 for me followed by Raymond
PrettyinPink55 03-31-2007, 08:02 PM Friends! :D
Classicshowsgurl15 04-15-2007, 03:43 AM Friends first then Everybody Loves Raymond.
I never really watched Fraiser
Buffyboy323 04-16-2007, 12:29 AM #1 Friends
#2 Frasier
*BIG HUGE GAP*
#3 Everybody Loves Raymond
comedyfreak 04-16-2007, 01:51 AM I never was a Raymond fan, couldn't get into the series and never have seen an episode all the way through.
RandomPerson8913 01-07-2017, 06:57 PM I am ten years late, but I don't care as I have recently been on a 90's sitcom binge.
FRIENDS: I watched only ten episodes and suddenly lost interest. I will have to watch more, though, because I cannot judge as of now.
FRASIER: One of the most solid, intelligent, well-written sitcoms of all time. I personally wish for a romantic relationship only half of the one Niles and Daphne have. The chemistry of the whole cast is evident and prominent, and the episodes flow into each other.
EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND: This sitcom is very special to me because I was able to easily cope with the recent, tragic death of my grandmother by watching it on Netflix. Marie is exactly like my late grandmother: overbearing and constantly interfering yet holding a deeper love. Each character's personality and attitude are realistic and include aspects I would find in my own family. The only criticism I have is that each episode has a separate plotline and does not flow as well as Frasier.
lakesgirl 01-09-2017, 12:27 PM I like all three but I think I like Everybody Loves Raymond best because it's the most like real-life. I can relate to it. The other two shows I can't relate to as much.
tlc38tlc38 01-09-2017, 07:08 PM Everybody Loves Raymond
Never cared for Friends or Frasier.
KatieAnn 01-09-2017, 08:33 PM I liked Friends and Frasier from the first season but now I can't watch those early years. ELR was not good in the beginning. All three shows have great and memorable episodes that make me laugh just thinking about them - and they all went on for too long.
Dale Key 01-10-2017, 04:32 AM All 3 are in my top 20 shows of all time. I guess If I have to rank then it would be Friends > Raymond > Frasier.
Spark Of Spirit 01-10-2017, 01:13 PM I think ELR gets better as you age. Friends? Not so much.
andress_jade 01-10-2017, 10:20 PM Mine would be Frasier, Friends and ELR in that order. I watch Frasier and Friends everyday on TV and catch ELR when I can. I love Frasier and Friends more than anything. :)
scrapple 01-14-2017, 04:48 PM Frasier is probably my favorite sitcom of all time...so well-written and well-cast. Second would be ELR, which really excelled in casting, all the secondary characters were great. I hated Friends.
Crusinforabrusin 01-18-2017, 07:39 AM Frasier by a long shot
Nurse Sully 01-18-2017, 08:03 AM Friends, I feel that cast had so much chemistry and every season of the show was great.
RandomPerson8913 12-04-2017, 11:48 AM Okay, here's an update:
I finally got around to watching Friends and I just can't get enough of it!
It just flows well and it never ceases to make me laugh. I've watched the show five times already, and the series finale always kills me.
So I guess I have to say--for me Friends and Frasier are tied at #1, but ELR is a close second because it feels like I'm at home with my own family when I watch that show.
lakesgirl 12-04-2017, 03:49 PM I really like all three.
Everybody Loves Raymond is my favorite. I've seen every episode. I can relate to Ray and Debra with their kids.
Friends comes next. Great characters but perhaps overplayed on TV.
Frasier - I didn't really like the character on Cheers but love him on Frasier. I'm watching the show on Netflix. Good writing.
Dale Key 12-04-2017, 08:22 PM Since Friends is in italics that means I voted for it some time ago. Now my tastes have altered a little bit and I would pick Frasier. In my most recently made top 50 shows of all time list they ranked:
17. Frasier
23. Friends
42. Everybody Loves Raymond
Dude111 12-05-2017, 09:01 AM I dont really care for any of them........
AMackII 07-13-2020, 02:39 PM Frasier, especially the early years
Too2muchtv 07-23-2020, 03:46 AM Raymond by a long shot, don’t think I ever watched a full episode of the other two shows.
king of comedy 07-24-2020, 08:00 AM I'm going with Frasier.
OH Nuts! 07-24-2020, 12:54 PM A No-Brainer: Everybody Loves Raymond....and so do I!
