i have just bought a new panasonic dvd player the multi region dvd-s75 it plays dvd-r's but it says that they have to be recorded and finalised on a panasonic dvd recorder is this true or can i accept dvd-r's from other recorders (sony,pioneer) etc

Yes, it's true, but it's nothing to worry about. All DVD traders finalize their DVD-Rs. That's just part of the process of making DVDs.

Confusing, I know. I didn't understand the jargon until I got a recorder myself.

so your saying as long as a disc is finalised i can accept dvd'rs from any brand of dvd recorder not just panasonic

Jason,

No one would send you DVD-Rs that weren't finalized. That's just part of making a DVD. Unfinalized discs can only be played in the DVD recorder that recorded them.

I have a Panasonic DVD player, too, and I haven't found a DVD that it couldn't play. VCDs play better on my Mintek, but the Panasonic is great for DVD-Rs.

I have Panasonic multi-region, multi-format players too and they play EVERYTHING!! I've got dvd, dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-ram discs and they all play, plus of course VCDs play as well.
