View Full Version : Season Five algebra74 04-20-2004, 06:54 PM http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1409 SawgrassSteve 04-20-2004, 07:06 PM Good link, Agebra74! Did you check out the "Best Of'' dvds? I'm so glad they put out the whole series first! I've got more TDVDS on tapes and dvds than I know what to do with. Steve Carrie 04-21-2004, 09:35 AM Thank you so much for posting that link. I can't wait to get all of them! My season 4 set should arrive by the end of next week! :D Lolac 04-21-2004, 10:53 AM Originally posted by Carrie Thank you so much for posting that link. I can't wait to get all of them! I'm particularly looking forward to hearing some of my favorite lines from season four: Pink Pills and Purple Parents: "...and one for Moo-Moo!" The Death of the Party: "The Manchurian Canterdirt!" 100 Terrible Hours: (too many good lines to mention... ) Lolac 04-21-2004, 11:32 AM Originally posted by Pentimento Me too! It's fun to have something to look forward to! Lolac  algebra74 04-21-2004, 06:48 PM I think that the fourth season was the best of the five seasons. What do you think? Also, I was wondering if anyone had the Neilson ratings of all five seasons of the show. I knew that it was in the top 10 for three of its five seasons, I am just not sure which one of the seasons it was not, other than the first. Kristen 04-21-2004, 07:06 PM I can't wait for season 4, either. Lately every time I get an urge to watch an episode, it turns out to be from either season 4 or 5! I never realized how this show got better as it went on. Kristen SawgrassSteve 04-22-2004, 01:09 AM Originally posted by algebra74 I was wondering if anyone had the Neilson ratings of all five seasons of the show. Algebra74, According to Lawrence M. Bernarbo, the #2 Reviewer on Amazon.com, the Nielsen Ratings for TDVDS, by season, break down as follows: Season 1 - 80th Season 2 - 9th Season 3 - 3rd Season 4 - 7th Season 5 - 16th Steve algebra74 04-22-2004, 04:51 PM Thank you SawgrassSteve for that information. Although 16th place is still very good, I wonder why it dropped that low during its fifth season? jasonrh 04-27-2004, 08:59 AM The ratings probably slipped because it was in black and white. Just about every other show on the primetime network schedules in 1966 was in color. In fact, the only other show I can think of that was b&w as late as 1966 would be The Avengers, which was in b&w because it was a British import (asthough it was in color in 1967, specifically for the American audience). Just about every other show on the primetime network schedules in 1966 was in color. That's a good point. Still, I have to wonder how many homes had a color TV set in '66. For me, everything was in black and white until 1979 (except at my aunt's house for some reason... ;) ) Dorothys BestPal 04-27-2004, 08:42 PM I am glad the DVD remained in black & white though it will be interesting to see the reunion in color , I think b&w lends a more mysterious quality than color does. algebra74 04-28-2004, 10:21 PM If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that Lost in Space, Bewitched, and I Dream of Jeannie were all in black and white until their 1966-1967 season. ScottD 04-28-2004, 11:38 PM You're right about Lost In Space, Bewitched, and I Dream Of Jeannie. That's the same year Gunsmoke went to color too. jehobden 04-29-2004, 01:47 AM Originally posted by Pentimento That's a good point. Still, I have to wonder how many homes had a color TV set in '66. For me, everything was in black and white until 1979 (except at my aunt's house for some reason... ;) ) Wow! And I thought I was the only one! My family didn't have a color tv until Dec. 1979, and that was a leftover set from my grandmother. I even remember as a 4-year-old in Dec. 1969 that the family got a 25" B&W set w/ a remote control, which is about as snazzy as you can get w/o going to color. jehobden 04-29-2004, 01:52 AM By fall 1965, NBC had only one B&W primetime sitcom (IDoJ) and just one other B&W show (Convoy, cancelled after 13 weeks). ABC had about half its sitcoms B&W, half color by then. CBS had just three primetime sitcoms in B&W that fall (Mr. Ed was still in B&W but moved to Sun. afternoon), DVD, The Munsters, and The Smothers Brothers Show (where Tom played Dick's guardian angel). Strangely enough all four of those shows have been on NaN over its history and all but Smothers Brothers on TVL. jehobden 05-03-2004, 12:52 AM Originally posted by Pentimento 100 Terrible Hours: (too many good lines to mention... ) "Poor little pussycat!"
