View Full Version : Leno or Letterman?
Brian 04-18-2004, 08:51 PM Which of these two late talk show hosts do you like better? I don't watch them too often because they are on when I go to bed but I have always liked Letterman. I used to watch episodes that my parents taped over ten years ago when I was in second and third grade. I like Leno for his opening monologues but that is sort of about it. (I like to listen to them when my local radio station airs part of them as part of their, "Last Night on The Tonight Show thing). I find Letterman a lot more entertaining.
vashti1999 04-18-2004, 10:42 PM Letterman. I've been watching him since his show followed Carson back in the day, and I've stuck with him. His brand of humor is just off kilter enough to make me a fan of his show. Leno never appealed to me, plus Letterman is here in NYC and you get to see alot of the city's sensibility with the on the street stuff he does on his show.
JD2635 04-20-2004, 02:26 PM Letterman. Leno is a terrroristic bland host with no moral value. So LETTERMAN RULES!
Letterman. I've been a die-hard fan of his ever since I was old enough to sneak out of bed and watch his old NBC show.
Leno is lame. Dave should have gotten The Tonight Show after Johnny retired, and Jay should have kept making those awful Doritos commercials.
Crunch all you want, indeed, Jay. Crunch all you want, indeed.
ptcruiserfan2004 04-21-2004, 05:25 PM I have to vote for Letterman.
Leno is getting somewhat tiring with his overused/recycled fat jokes and jokes about Kevin's (Eubanks) inability to, um *cough* well, you know... :o

hahaha
Leno's only good for his opening monolouge.
But Letterman owns his ass.
His show is much smarter, and much funnier.
But what sucks for me is that my local CBS comes in like ****, so I can hardly ever watch Letterman without getting a headache.

Yep. Every week night before I go to bed I watch his opening monologue then turn the TV off. Funny stuff. If Letterman had a better opening monologue his show would be perfect.
dandelion wine 05-29-2004, 12:06 PM David Letterman, hands down. I've been a fan of his since he started out on NBC, and have been watching ever since. I like his goofy, "I don't take myself too seriously" attitude and his interviews are always worth seeing.
Dean Winchester 05-29-2004, 03:07 PM Leno.
Letterman used to be cool.... and then he went to CBS
Chambers 06-19-2004, 02:06 PM Letterman has always been my favorite. He doesn't suck up to his guests like Leno. His humor is smarter and sharper. Plus, that Dave/Oprah feud is hilarious.
CarJackSnyder 07-24-2004, 04:17 PM Letterman!! :D :) :D :)
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-25-2004, 05:38 PM I prefer Conan over them both. :)

Ditto.
barwars 08-14-2004, 07:32 PM After watch both a lot more lately.... Ive come to conclusion that Leno SUCKS.
Letterman's monolouge is much better, and Leno shake hands greeting the people is cheap.
Letterman has a better band/sidekick.... not to mention he's just plain funnier.
Everything about him is better.
(hence the avatar)
(ohh, and I apologize now for using the word "hence")

You think Letterman's monologue is better? I always thought Jay's monologue was better, except for his fat jokes. His opening monologues never fail to make me laugh.
I like Letterman's show a lot better overall. He never takes anything seriously and that's why I love it. I also prefer his interviews over Jay's.

A lot of Leno's jokes seem to bomb, but others work.
Whereas I find Letterman to stay consistent (even if Leno comes off with the best joke of the night)
Letterman interviews much better than Leno. Leno really does suck up to his guests. Whereas with Letterman -- he seems to have guests on that he has a genuine interest in.
I only watch Leno when a specific guest is on.
Whereas I try to catch Letterman as often as possible.
The late comedian Bill Hicks (1961-1994) did a scatching bit on Jay Leno and The Tonight Show. It was quite hilarious.
JoMommaIScool 08-18-2004, 02:58 PM letterman is awesome!
i love when leno does his jaywalking..but sometimes i think those things are soooo staged. or at least the people are pretending to be REALLY stupid.
