I always wondered how many people actually watched N@N overnight like that.

I want to be the President of N@N/TV Land. Wouldn't that be fun?

It says TCS is the highest rated show.... but theres no mention of exactly what its ratings are.

Either way, in a way this is good -- people still watch classic TV.
But in a way its bad -- its not all that old.

haha.... good point is right.
as much as i like TCS.... im getting sick of it.
i think i may have seen every episode.
and this isnt even a show that i religously watch.

Eventually.... i can see TCS's ratings plummit once everybody realizes they seen EVERYTHING before.

Unless there are some TCS die-hard fans out there, I think you're right.

I like the show.... its in my top 5....
but I definately wouldnt call myself a diehard fan.
Sure Id buy the show on DVD.... but I still think it airs WAY too much.
And for many.... it has killed the show.

Yeah, I agree with you on the last point. I myself don't like the show (except for the ep with John Ritter & Amy Yasbeck) and I'd really like to see them put Three's Company in its place. OK, if they HAVE to have Cheers on there (yeah, like they have to) then all I'm asking is for them to replace an hour of TCS with Three's Company. *To N@N & TVLand* Is that to much to ask??

Wow, Roseanne is number 2 on the network! It's funny that it's under TCS because that's the show is overtook in the ratings in 1988 to become the number one show.

Either way, it's great, although this does diminish its chances to be released on DVD.

But, you had to turn it into an argument. So, that makes you the whinner. AKA, Aren't you supposed to be 23 years old? I never asked you to "bow down" to The Cosby Show (something you also constantly accuse Barwars88 of doing). Not once. You have a tendency to misunderstand the point of peoples' posts (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=101531&perpage=15&pagenumber=2).

I just get tired of reading your complaints about The Cosby Show's overexposure. I'm sick of it airing a zillion times a day, too. Nothing I can do about it.

As for the DVD argument: there are tons of overexposed shows that are currently on DVD. Friends, for one.

That is probably why there is no DVD for it. When you can watch it on demand, why would you spend $40 for a DVD?

Since this thread is about N@N ratings, and the Cosby Show is a major part of it, I think this is an appropriate thread for the discussion of the Cosby Show. Most everybody agrees that it is overplayed.

I agree with you that this thread is about N@N ratings and how the Cosby show has a role in it and that it is overplayed. But I find it annoying when someone just bashes, whines, and complains loudly about the show being overplayed and excessively expressing her distaste for the series. I mean it's OK to not like a show and that you can give an opinion on it but to criticize, bash, and complain about the show being overplayed on an everyday basis is just annoying. Everybody knows how much Jen1989 hates TCS. I don't like the show too much, either, and I don't like the fact that it is overplayed. But you don't see me making negative posts about it every day and bashing it whenever the subject of TCS comes up.

Im not trying to start a fight.
Im just answering the question (which I *think* was directed towards me)

Just like any TVDVD, Id but it for (hopefully) uncut and unedited episodes, MUCH better picture quality, and maybe even some extras.
The simple fact that Id be able to watch any episode, at any time I want would be awesome.
That way I could skip the medicore episodes and watch the TRUE great ones.
Maybe this is a dumb reason, but if it is.... then I dont see why ANY show is on DVD.

Friends is on tv all the time and I still have all the DVD's of it. Because you hate Cosby doesn't mean others do. Surely there's an overplayed show that you like and can still watch the episode 20 times later while other people are sick of it.

Raymond is coming to DVD soon and I freaking hate that show with a passion, but there are ELR fans who DO want to own it. I would probably buy the first 2 seasons of Cosby if they were available on DVD, I rarely watch it on Nick At Nite anyways

lol, I don't mind that she dislikes Cosby, but it seems like the hate for it is way too passionate, she went off on me for no reason because I pointed out that a good show is still a good show even if it's overplayed.

I mean, I think Raymond is the stupidest show of the past 10 years, and Full House is the worst show ever, but you don't see me telling the fans of those shows that they are stupid because they have a different OPINION than I do.

If people would be more willing to hear out the opinions of the other side, things would be better. Cosby Show is overplayed, even BarWars admits that, but just because it's overplayed doesn't mean it WASN'T a great show in the 80's and basically everyone between 20-30 watched the show every week as a kid. Yes, we do not need Cosby on 10 times a day, but you can't deny there wasn't at least a couple really funny episodes.

I agree with Jen1989. The Cosby Show is played to the point of driving everyone nuts. You all are being very hard on her. Some of you mention you don't like people bashing shows. You seem to be able to easily bash Jen1989, and what she has to say. Lighten up people. You seem to be ganging up on her. It's unnecessary, and just plain mean.

She can hate TCS all she wants.
Her rambling on about it is just as annoying (if not worse) as the show being played constantly.
