View Full Version : Vindication
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 10:46 AM After months and months of being attacked over my position concerning Hayley Mills leaving the show, I finally have the evidence I've been searching for that will proove my case. I found the following blurb in the trade publication Sitcom Industry Weekly dated January 15, 1989:
Peter Engel announced this week that Hayley Mills, the star of his hit sitcom Good Morning Miss Bliss, will not return next season. How to write her departure into the script has yet to be determined. Although Engel described Mills's leaving as "entirely her decision," an industry insider told SIW, "This has been in the works for some time now. She's being forced out. It was almost done last season, but the producers decided to give her one more year. It's widely known that Peter thinks Hayley is too British for American audiences. I think he's making a big mistake." Mills wasn't immediately available for comment. This decision by Engel follows a tumultuous year off the set regarding allegations of misconduct involving various cast members.
So does anyone STILL think there isn't discrimination against British actors in this country? It's pretty hard to deny it after reading that.
Also, does anyone have any idea what the "allegations of misconduct" the article is referring too?

...I don't remember anyone discriminating her for being British.
Fall Back Doggie 03-23-2004, 01:23 PM lol @ this...
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 02:00 PM ...I don't remember anyone discriminating her for being British.
The article comes right out and says that she was canned BECAUSE she's British. Go back to work on your website, it could use the attention.
SBTB Geek 03-23-2004, 03:11 PM Just because Hayley Mills didn't reach mainstream or huge success in the US, doesn't mean that we Americans are discriminating against British actors.
If this type of British discrimination was in fact true, there is no way actors like, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, and Elizabeth Hurley could of reached success here.
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:13 PM I think this comment speaks for itself.
It's widely known that Peter thinks Hayley is too British for American audiences.

Well, I for one, have never heard about Sitcom Industry Weekly, so honestly, I really don't believe your post, you could of easily made up that "article."
Can you post a link, scan, or anything that proves that this article in fact does exist?

That's complete bullcrap, I bet most of the Good Morning Miss Bliss viewers never even thought about her nationality.
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:19 PM I hadn't heard of it either until I spent FOUR MONTHS researching the subject. I have better things to do with my time than to prove myself to you. Besides, you'd find a reason to question any evidence I submitted if it conflicted with your warped view of reality. I think most people realize the truth now. Keep your head buried in the sand if you choose.
Maxamillion 03-23-2004, 03:19 PM God Thrill just can not let this die! Very interesting though. I especially liked this comment!!
"This decision by Engel follows a tumultuous year off the set regarding allegations of misconduct involving various cast members."
Hmmmmmmmm I wonder who broke that news to the board a couple of months ago!!!!!!! Could it have been...................ME!!!
I questioned the validity of the article until I read that quote!!
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:22 PM What a shock...SBTB Geek attacks me unprovoked again. Who woulda guessed?

Apparently you don't have better things to do with your time if you really spent four months researching something so ridiculous.

I'm not attacking you, I just dislike liars.
Maxamillion 03-23-2004, 03:31 PM Just to prove my point on how much British Actors Suck!!! Here is a list of memorable scenes from Hayley Mills!!!
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~FG5M-OGM/hayley/scenes_e.htm
Memorable Scenes???????? I don't even remember any of these movies!!! Plus she stole someone elses work in the filming of "That Darn Cat". The producers got sued over that one!! A young and up coming producer named Brad Amerson copyrighted the story but Hayley and crew stole it!! The original "That Darn Cat" that Amerson wrote about was about a zany cat named Snowball and his wild adventures!!!
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:31 PM OK, I admit it. I went through the trouble of making up a trade magazine AND an article from that made up magazine for a stupid message board to convince people that I don't even know that I'm right. Yep, you guessed it. You're a regular Matlock aren't you?
Just because you all are too lazy and/or incompetent to do your own research, you turn on the one person who brings FACTS to the discussion.

This coming from someone who has an autograph collection site? That's pretty funny. If you don't care like you allege, why do you keep posting?

That ALMOST made sense. What does having an autograph collecting site have to do with anything?
Maxamillion 03-23-2004, 03:38 PM Dont worry Huntington. That Hayley loving loser is just trying to justify wasting 4 months of his life researching an actor that nobody gives a crap about by trashing your uniteresting drain of a site!!!

You ridicule me for taking the time to research a subject that's been heavily debated on this board, yet you waste your time hosting an autograph collection site? You need to get out more.

There are many people who have autograph collecting sites and many people visit it. It does serve a purpose. My point was that you obviously DO have quite a bit of extra time on your hands to research this subject. No one seems to be listening to you now and no one ever really has.

Heavily debated?!... The only person who gives a crap about this is you!
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:42 PM OK Huntington, you can leave now. Your posts are as dull as your website...if that's possible!
Max - Do you really have information on the controversy that the article was talking about?

LOL... why do you always argue with yourself!... It is obvious you are Max, or is it just a coincidence that Max only appears when you do?
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:45 PM Huntington and Geek, for people who don't "give a crap" about this, you two sure seem to attack me a lot when I bring it up. If you don't care, just stop posting. If you see something you don't like, just leave it alone! For instance, I found Huntington's website so utterly boring that I never intend to return.

No, I'm not going to leave this thread alone because as a moderator of this message board, I don't like to have the visitors of this place to be misinformed.
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 03:51 PM Misinformed? I post an article directly from a legitimate source and you say I'm misinforming people? Someone needs to be moderating YOU!
By the way, are you and Huntington the same person? HAHAHA!
Maxamillion 03-23-2004, 03:53 PM What in the heck are you talking about. I come to this site everyday and look around! I have better things to do than to argue with myself. I am in North Carolina.
Hell the only reason I respond is because I think Thrill is an idiot. Plus you are an administrator and you can look at our accounts. Look back through the threads!! There are tons of threads that I posted on that Thrill did not post on.

Legitimate source?! (HA!)... can you please post a scan of the Sitcom Industry Weekly article?!.... and someone does "moderate" me, have you heard of TJ?
And yes, Huntington and I are the same person.
theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 04:16 PM This is just sad. I'm berated for not offering proof that Hayley Mills was descriminated against because she's British, then when I do the research provide evidence that I'm right, the freakin moderator comes along with his own agenda and tries to muddy the water by attacking me and goes so far as to say that I'm someone else. Unbelievable! How about dealing with the facts of the argument rather than trying to tear someone else down just because they don't agree with you. If you wanna attack someone, attack Huntington for wasting our time by suggesting that we visit his/her awful website!

theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 04:27 PM You all would be amazed at the number of personal messages I've received that want to legitimately know more about what happened to Hayley. The sad part is that most of these people have told me that they are afraid to post on here because of the attacks they know they will incur. Nice job of making this a diverse and welcoming board Geek.

theTHRILL 03-23-2004, 04:32 PM Huntington - you know how it is when you pass an automobile accident and you don't wanna look but you just have to? That's the way your website is. It's hideous, but I had to look. Does the word "forgery" mean anything to you? I think I'm gonna start my own autograph website. I just received an autograph from Gary Coleman. Give me a second and I think I can come up with one from Mel from Mel's Diner. Give it up. Your hoax isn't fooling anyone.
Maxamillion 03-23-2004, 04:34 PM How did you get all those autographs huntington??? That is impressive!!!

Again with me being oh so deeply hurt. Yes, the word forgery does mean something to me--that's why none of those autographs are on my site. Maybe you should also inform the hundreds of other collectors the same thing, since you know so much about it. :)

Thanks. I got most of them through the mail. Many of them were obtained through different venues (places where people are filming movies and TV shows, doing plays, concerts, etc.). Some were also obtained in person.

OK I said what I had to say. It was so peaceful for a couple of weeks. Well, it was good while it lasted. But, I will go back to the other fun SBTB threads. It's what I am here for. I will pretend this thread is not here.

Excuse me! I have done nothing to you...you are the one who is incredibly rude to everyone here. I want nothing to do with you anymore...I'm done being nice. You obviously have some problems.
Besides, I said that because it sounded like you were trying to say something about us discriminating her for being British when I don't remember anyone doing this....but hey, maybe someone did...I dunno. I don't care. I said I liked Hayley Mills...but I don't like you so I am done with this.

There are countless other famous actors/actress and directors/writers who are famous British people who act in the usa. This is just a short list of them.
I seriously dobut that they discrimminate against British actors/actresses/directors/writes in Hollywood.
If that was true then the famous British actors/actress/directors/writers might not have made it big and some of the movies they starred in may never have happened and you might not ever gotten to see it Hint Good Morning Miss Bliss(AKA Saved by the Bell)
theTHRILL 03-24-2004, 11:58 AM Impressive list hughpuppies - and people say I take this thing too seriously!? The fact is that a vast majority on that list are always the butt of jokes in all the roles they play. Rowan Atkinson, Irene Handl, Paul Barber, etc.? They are all seen as hacks because of the silly rolls they have to accept.
