When was the series better??

View Full Version : Before or After "Niles&Daphne"?? barwars 03-20-2004, 11:03 AM When was the series better?? barwars 03-20-2004, 11:11 AM Although I havent even seen more than 10 episodes from Seasons 3-7.... Id have to say that its definately better. I think Niles & Daphne getting together couldve caused the show to jump the shark.... but not quite. I still love Seasons 8-11 (which Ive seen almost every episode).... but its just not on par with the first 7 seasons. But Id still rather watch an episode after Season 7 over more than half the crap that airs on TV. Brian Damage 03-20-2004, 02:14 PM I always loved the sexual tension between Niles and Daphne. Microprosa 03-20-2004, 05:49 PM Before. They have no chemistry. PanamaMike 04-09-2004, 10:25 AM The moment Niles and Daphne drove off in the motorhome this show fell apart. 7 amazing seasons followed by 4 mediocre ones. Frasier W. Crane 04-09-2004, 01:25 PM Note that this season is MUCH MUCH better than the previous few. barwars 04-09-2004, 02:08 PM Originally posted by Frasier W. Crane Note that this season is MUCH MUCH better than the previous few. I agree. This is the best Season since Niles & Daphne got together. By the time Seasons 8-10 rolled around, the show's 2 biggest jokes (Maris, and Niles' obsession with Daphne) were both already done. But I still enjoy the later seasons a lot. Much better than A LOT of shows out there, but not quite on par with the early seasons. Jokerette 04-14-2004, 09:09 AM Better. I love Niles and Daphne as a couple but I thought the show was fresher and funnier before they hooked up properly. I thought the sexual tension was incredible and the will they/won't they was so well done it was never boring although towards the end of I was literally screaming for them to "for God sake's get on with it" lol. I do like Niles and Daphne together as well though, they're such a cute couple. Moondance 05-30-2004, 02:03 PM I think it was before they got together, but I loved when they got together...it wasn't rushed, I don't think. http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys_1/malelovies.gif Feen Chambers 05-31-2004, 05:47 PM It was wonderful when Daphne was unaware of Niles' obsession with her - great stuff for comedy. I actually stopped watching "Frasier" regularly when Niles and Daphne started to get friendly. BebeSternin 05-31-2004, 06:09 PM *Big Niles-ish gasp* How could you stop watching Frasier regularly?? Chambers 05-31-2004, 06:23 PM Originally posted by BebeSternin *Big Niles-ish gasp* How could you stop watching Frasier regularly?? "Oh cut it out, Niles!" LOL I have always had trouble being a regular tv watcher. I'm not always in the same city or country - so tv schedules change. And sometimes I have so much work to do that I simply don't have time to watch ANY tv . That's why I worship reruns. Anyway - Niles and Daphne are a cute couple, but not enough to keep me interested. Daphne is not my favorite character. I love the show because of the relationship between Frasier, Niles and Martin...and Eddie of course. Frankly, the regular female roles in the show (save for Maris, whom I adore, HA-HA) aren't that impressive. I don't think the creative team ever topped Diane or Lilith. By the way, BebeS., LOVE the new avatar! BebeSternin 05-31-2004, 06:32 PM You just couldn't top Diane/Lilith. It's not even possible. But thanks! And I love yours too! barwars 05-31-2004, 07:22 PM The trouble is DianeDiane, you have a fear of commitment. You really wanted to see Niles and Daphne get together, but you were too afraid of commitment to watching the show take a "soap-opera" turn, much like early Cheers. Or.... this is a bunch of bull, and you left with half of the rest of the world. Chambers 05-31-2004, 07:34 PM Oh barwars, thank you. I haven't had a good laugh in ages. Actually, you're not far off with the psycho-babble. I did want to avoid that soap-opera element. If the humor stems from dysfunctional couples, then once the couple finds happiness, what is there left to watch? Commitment, happiness, call it what you want, is B-O-R-I-N-G. That's why I'm actually glad Sam and Diane never married. I mean, it would have been a nice last episode, but it would also have meant the end of Cheers. Fighting, unrequited love, etc, is fun. Happily-ever-after isn't. barwars 05-31-2004, 07:37 PM Originally posted by DianeDiane Oh barwars, thank you. I haven't had a good laugh in ages. Actually, you're not far off with the psycho-babble. I prefer Niles & Daphne seperated, and Sam & Diane seperated.... they were always funnier when apart. But when they were together, I still watched. Niles & Daphne together is 100 times better than most things on TV. BebeSternin 05-31-2004, 07:55 PM It was. Unfortunately, I didn't even start watching until...what episode was it? Don Juan in Hell. So, yeah.. Chambers 05-31-2004, 08:00 PM Originally posted by barwars Niles & Daphne together is 100 times better than most things on TV. I agree. It was still great - but I have poor TV commitments. I'm still a huge loyal fan - don't get me wrong. I just need to catch up through reruns. Sometimes I forget there's such a thing as a "new episode." BebeS - I loved that episode with Lilith, Diane and Mother Crane! barwars 05-31-2004, 08:02 PM Originally posted by BebeSternin It was. Unfortunately, I didn't even start watching until...what episode was it? Don Juan in Hell. So, yeah.. I WISH I started then, earlier would be better. But I didnt faithfully watch Frasier until the episode, "Lilith Needs A Favor". Before then.... NOTHING. EVER. But.... Im making up for it, thanks to DVDs. Which get better with each episode, although I despise the character of Kate. (people with Season 3 know who Im talking about) Chambers 05-31-2004, 08:09 PM eek Kate, the station manager Kate? I hated her! I actually started watching "Frasier" from day one and loved it from day one. BebeSternin 05-31-2004, 08:16 PM Oh dear. That is late. I didn't really faithfully watch until the start of season 10, but I saw most of the earlier ones in reruns during 9. Oh, and Bad Boy and Dirty Girl Kate? jamier42 05-31-2004, 08:28 PM I like After because I like Niles and Daphne together and also that is when I started watching Frasier too. Moondance 06-01-2004, 03:39 PM Niles and Daphne are my new infatuation! lol Feen booty_full56 07-04-2004, 05:14 PM Im torn. Now that they're together, it makes some of the episodes SO much better. But only the ones that are forcused on them. Before, every episode was funny because it consisted of the sexual tension between the two of them. |
