Hey, just wondering, you guys... :D

For those of you who already had your "mid-winter break" (that's something I still don't understand the point of... ), did you go someplace special for the week?

For those of you who just started your spring break, are you going anywhere special?

And for those of you starting your spring break within the next few weeks, are YOU going to go somewhere? Or just spend the week lazing at home?

I'm asking, because I'm in my 1st semester of college (yeah, I really should've started last fall...), and up here, this Friday is our last day before our spring break starts. School will resume as usual on the 22nd. This year, I'm going somewhere really special for my spring break -- I'M FLYING TO LONDON!!!!! :mrt: I'll be staying in a hotel in Westimester, and we'll be going all over the place. We might even take a day to visit Paris and another day to visit Amsterdam (altho the latter seems more likely).

I am sooooooo psyched about my trip. I really can't wait! :D The only bad thing about it is, I'll have to miss 3 days of school (the 22nd-24th) and I know I'll be super tired on the 25th, but it will be SO worth it. :D

What airport are you flying into? Because Gatwick is a dump. The terminal is really grey and boring (except for the shopping/eating plaza) and you can't get any good views of the city (my problem) from it. But then again, you're actually going into London, not just flying through it, so it probably won't matter to you either way.

My spring break started today. I'm not doing anything special. On Thursday, I'm celebrating my birthday early with two of my best friends. They are going to spend the night, and on Friday we are going to the mall on a shopping spree.

I don't know what I'm going to do over spring break yet. Probably hang out with my friends.

I'm finally going to Boston. :D

I was supposed to go on my birthday.. but I had to take a practice SATs or something so my dad had to reschedule our trip. I'm happy that I'm going... but now my sister decided that she wants to look at colleges up there so that turned into the main purpose of the trip. :o

Whatever... I can't wait.

You're just jealous  :p

And congrats about your trip, that sounds awesome. I probably won't do anything. Ours is the week of easter, so...easter stuff I guess.

I dunno yet. All I know about the airport plans is that I'll have a layover in Minneapolis then fly straight, nonstop, to London :)

 I looked up the forecast for London and it said it'll be raining most of the time. Not surprising. But hey, it'll be a change from the snow up here. :D

I'm leaving for St. Petersburg, Russia on Saturday for three weeks. Then I'll be going to Kazakhstan (and maybe China) for an additional two weeks. :D

Have fun in London, by the way. :)

My spring break is next week. It starts on Thursday (I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays) but I'm not going anywhere. My mother might be at Colorado during some of that time to help my sister, who is due any day now. She'll leave a week after the child is born. I'm probably going to stay at home and play video games and watch movies all day.

My spring break starts the second week of April and lasts for 10 days. This year I'm actually getting out of town. I am going to Charleston with my friend.

Our spring break starts March 20th and continues through the 28th.

Don't know what we're doing yet, but my dad's off the whole week, so I'm sure we will do something, but we won't be gone the entire week. I plan on doing the usual... nothing for most of the week.

(for those wondering, I'm homeschooled, but my sister goes to school still).

It felt like Spring last week here. We were in the 80s a couple of days and 70s the rest of the week. It was cooler today though. Average high is around 60, which is where it was today. Trees and flowers are starting to bloom and bud.

It's been in the 70's all week but tomorrow it's supposed to be 40 and snow. It's crazy. I am so ready to not have school and go to the beach.

I'm bumping this thread back up because I got my flight schedule.

And, yes, Chris, I am going to be going through the Gatwick airport when I get there...but yeah. I'll be in London anyway.

When I leave tomorrow, I have one layover, which will be in Minneapolis at 5:45pm. I get to London by 9am their time (so it'll be 3am Central). On the way home, I have two layovers -- one in Detroit, MI, at 5:30pm their time and again in Minneapolis at 8pm my time. I leave Minneapolis at 9pm and get home after 10 my time. And that's not including having to wait for my luggage to come in. :faint:

Since you're going to be on an international flight, you're going to land in the South Terminal. Good luck when you arrive at the airport thought because you're going to have to fill out a landing card and even if you make one tiny mistake, you have to go to the back of the line and wait for a 1/2 an hour before you're in the front of the line again. That was my mistake.

You probably won't be going through the food/shopping plaza, since London is your final destination. I, on the other hand, had another flight to Kraków, so I had to take about a ten minute bus ride to the North Terminal (Which freaked me out at first because I forgot that they drive on the left side of the road over there  ), and had about 2 1/2 hours until my flight, so I had time to wander around. I was going to tell you what shops to go to and which bathrooms to avoid and all that too, but looks like you won't be doing that. Have fun in the actual city, though. Gatwick is about 20 kilometers south of the city, if I remember correctly.

Since I came into London at about 7am, it was still a bit dark and I got to see a bit of the English countryside with the little street lights and houses all lit up. It was amazing. Rolling hills and little seaside towns. I took pictures, like the tourist I am, but they didn't turn out. No pictures ever turn out from the window of a plane.

 A landing card? What exactly do you have to fill out on it? I'm glad you told me about it...nobody else has told me about it.

I'm pretty sure I'll be really tired when I get into London, though...it feeling like 3am my time and all. :p

Just your name, address, birthdate, place of birth, etc. It takes only like two minutes to fill out, but you need to make sure you follow all the instructions, (All capitals, not cursive), because they're really strict about it. It's basically required for any person who is flying into the UK who isn't a citizen. It's the same thing for every country you fly into where you're not a citizen.

Then, coming back to the states, you need to fill out a claims form, basically filling out everything that you bring back into the US that you didn't take out (souveniers, food, etc.) I had to fill it out all six times that I came back from Poland. I usually always cheat and just write basic words like souverniers, oscypek (this cheese that pasterized in my region of Poland), clothes. You can get away with it as long as you write something down.

Yea, loosing and adding time kills some people. I always sleep in until 1 or 2 in the afternoon after the first coupe of nights. After like a week, you're fully adjusted, so you begin to wake up normally.

I can't believe spring break is coming up already. Seems like Christmas was just yesterday. Anyways, I'm not going anywhere except to work. I may be going to Louisiana in the fall though. For those of you who have been there, what's it like? I've never been there and have really not heard much about it.

How 'bout a concealed .357 Magnum? ;) I always wanted to travel to and visit various countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America...and Antarctica! Ever since I used to play "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" and "Mario is Missing" on my old-school Windows 3.1 comp.

(Incidentally, in the Mario is Missing game, if you go to Antarctica, there's a city called "New America"; is that real?)
