Didn't Larry's mom seem to be a tad old? Larry mentioned he had an older married brother and a teenage sis,all when he was around 8 or so.Poor Mrs Mondello looked exhausted!

When I was 11 and my friend was 10, his mother was 52. I can't imagine Mrs. Mondello being any older than 55. In those days, 45-55 year old ladies looked like that. I thought she seemed to have a lot of stress, but she looked like a great mom!:)

She did seem stressed..especially when she went over to the Cleavers because her husband was away:) but she did seem like a nice mom..Larry just was a handful for her:D

But you're right..people looked older than.A 45 year old then looked like today's 55 year old.

She was probably about 50. If the daughter was teenage, that would put her in her 30s when she was born. If the first son is married, people usually married about 20. That would make her 30 when he was born. And if Larry was 10, it would put her at 40.

June was supposed to be in her 30s, and Ward was supposed to be in his 40s.

Did they ever mention June and Ward's age?June did seem like an energetic mom.

Ward said in one episode he was born in 1918, and this was late fifties, early sixties. June was younger than Ward, so she must have been about 35-40.;)

I would love to find out how they "got together":)

Larry's parents got together when his mother was a dental nurse, taking out Mr. Mondello's cavities. On today's episode, Larry says, "If it wasn't for my father's cavities, I wouldn't be here."

We never got to see the elusive Mr. Mondello...wonder if he was handsome?

In one episode, we saw him, but only his back turned toward the camera. Larry was talking to him. I couldn't tell if he was handsome or not. Another of LITB's great mysteries.

Larry's father is assumed to be of Italian heritage, because of the last name Mondello. I have a little Italian in me, too. I always thought Larry looked Irish or Scottish.:talk:

Well,if he was Italian,I'll just say he was tall,dark,and handsome(my imagination)...Larry got his mom's more Anglo looks:D

Mr. Mondello was shown very briefly in the "school play" episode. It always seems funny to me that they didn't ever feature him because Larry and his mom were so prominent. It was actually kind of a dysfunctional family with an absentee father who would "hit" Larry, the nervous mom, etc!

Larry's father could have been northern-Italian, giving him fair skin and blonde hair.

I am Italian, Portuguese, and Lithuanian, and I don't look one bit Italian. I take after my grandmother on my mothers side (Portuguese), who looks French. People always think I am French.

What nationality is the last name Cleaver? I think it sounds Irish.;)

Irish sounds about right:)

Barbara Billingsley looked Irish to me because she had fair skin and blonde hair.

Hugh Beaumont was French in real life, but he looked German to me. Take it from someone who is always being asked if he is French.

According to the IMDB Madge Blake who played Larry's mom was born in 1899 which would have made her around 60 during the shows run.

Some sources say she was born in 1889, which could have made her 70!

Madge later went on to play Amos Mccoys girlfriend on The Real Mccoys and then in the 1960's played Aunt Harriet on Batman. I don't think she was a 30 or 40 something on Leave it to Beaver. Maybe early 50's Her tv character had a married son so she was older.

In what episode is this information given?

Jack

It is not given on an episode, I made a mistake. It was on litb.com when it gives character biographies.
