View Full Version : Maggie and Bad Parenting

You know that "Knight Rider" two parter, where Sam's introduced. Well, I discovered something.......Maggie doesn't like Sam. Think about this: He was in the pool.....

Meanwhile, Maggie and Mr. D were far away at a stop, kissing, w/o SAM! He's alone in that pool, with a bunch of strangers! Think about what could of happened!

And if he was with them while they're were Kissing or *makeing out*, then, as Shirley Feeney would say, "It's the road to smutsville!"

------------------
ALF: As Barry as my witness, I'll never go hungry again!

Mr. Kotter: Thinking is very important. Where would George Washington be if he didn't think? Or Thomas Jefferson or Henry Gerani?
Washington: I never heard of Henry Gerani!
Mr. Kotter: That's becuase he didn't think!

Yeah, she shouldn't have left the little darling alone in the pool. Good point.

More questionable parenting: In Cyrano de Jackson, Mr. D doesn't seem too concerned about Arnold plagarizing those poems for Dudley's benefit. It's not nice to copy a poem and pass it off as your own.

Look, Mary-Ann, I've been looking at your posts and I've got something to say. We can talk whenever we want, and it's not up to you. This is our opinion, and WELCOME TO IT!

What a funny topic! Good one, Sean! Yeah, Maggie IMO was not a very good parent. Did you noticed she never really hugged Arnold, Kimberly, or Willis a lot? I thought Mary-Ann Mobley was a lot nicer though. Remember in Sam's Missing, when Arnold says that it was his fault Sam got kidnapped, Maggie tells him that it wasn't and hugs him. I just can't picture Dixie Carter doing that though.

Yeah, but in the Hollywood ep. (the one w/ Knight Rider), I agree, Where was the parenting?? Sam could've gotten kidnapped! LOL!!

Hey Sean, that's a funny Shirley quote!

Or else what Mary-Ann?

I noticed that about her leaving Sam in the pool, I also thought another example of her bad parenting was in the "Bed Wetting" episode when she has a go at sam for wetting his bed in the first lace, any decent parent should've known that wasn't the best thing to do.

Mary-Ann. Being rude to the others is not going to make them like Maggie at all. Hey everybody has got their own opinion. They gave theirs respectfully. You are going to have to deal with it. I do not want this topic to create a war on the boards. Now that I think about it, Maggie should have watched Sam a little closer, but IMO that does not make her a bad parent. Let us stick to Different Strokes issues and not our own(issues) with each other.

Mary-Ann, Thomas E is right. We don't all have the same opinion. If you don't respect others opinions, chances are that they won't respect yours.

BTW Jethro Bodine is one of the characters on the 1962-1971 sitcom, "The Beverly Hillbillies"

A person can't state their opinion without some Johnny come lately coming in saying "You are so stupid. I can't believe you don't like him or her!" That's like me saying everybody on this board is totally stupid if they don't like Dale Midkiff, or Elvis, or whoever. I'm pretty sure most of these people wouldn't even know who Dale Midkiff is! We all have different opinions that should be taken seriously. Hell, I know that this is what makes the world go round.

Name calling is also immature. Name calling is what 2nd graders do. I don't care if you are 11 or 111, I still consider you an adult. I'm sure a lot of people could consider an 11 year old an adult too if you acted mature.

Please let's end this squabbling and get back on to the important topics. Note for the future, if someone says something that pisses you off don't post a reply back. More than likely it will start up another war. Keep your opinions about other people's opinions to yourself, you never know when you may run across somebody that beats the hell out of you for calling them stupid because of their opinion.

I'm outta of here. I get a headache everytime I see one of these posts that calls somebody stupid because of their opinion.

If you didn't want to see people posting to this topic why did you bring up an old topic? If you had just left it alone then there would have only been one reply and you wouldn't have had to get mad.By bringing it up again more people replied than they would have if you hadn't said anything.

I was watching The wedding episodes earlier and just to put the cherry on the cake with her parenting, when Maggie went to storm out the house she forgot Sam!

Not to be rude but, she forgot Sam because Mr. Drummond not wanting to get married was the only thing on her mind.

I don't blame you for thinking that way, Jenny. That's one of the reasons why I don't come to these boards much either anymore.

I did notice that Mary Ann's Maggie was more of a hugger towards Mr. D's kids. She was really sweet towards Willis when he left for college in Willis Goes to College-she referred to him as our son to Mr. D. and told Willis that even though she didn't raise him from birth she loved him and had high hopes and wished him the best in life as if he were her own. (paraphrase but same basic concept). In another episode she hugs and kisses Arnold before sending him off on his class field trip. In Arnolds Job she put her arm around him and told him how proud she was of him getting a job. Dixie's Maggie loved Mr. D's kids and expressed that especially in Wedding part 2. She was so concerned about connecting with Arnold that she talks about it with Mr. D-she wanted to connect and have a close relationship with Arnold. In both Wedding episodes there are hugs and tender words between she and Kimberly. Heck she even gives Kimberly her grandmother's necklace for keeps. Now that's love. Dixie's Maggie is always at Arnold's school functions like the science fair in Arnold and Lisa's mother and in Bar Mitzvah Boy she she tries to help him sort out his conflicts as to which church to attend by encouraging him to explore religions and even said if you don't like my church maybe you'll be happier in another one and encouraged him to explore other options. She also hugged Arnold in the episode where he went on strike over the new dress code. You also have to remember that the kids were older and getting hugged by a parent wasn't always cool. She showed her love by being there at the kids functions and taking an active role in their lives. Dixie's Maggie also referred to Willis and Arnold as our sons in the the episode Carmella Meets the Gooch.
