Jinny just got out of rehab and has been back to work for a few months. She had just met this guy at an AA meeting Frank and was going out with him for about 2 weeks now. She felt this was one man in her life was different. She was actually happy. She thought she was in love. She was wrong...very wrong.

CD and Nate have been partners for a while and they had not to each other this but CD was falling in love with Nate and Nate was falling in love with CD.

Kate was basically the same. She was helping a new officer to The Division Raina Washington. She was kind of getting on Kate's nerves but she didn't care that much.

Jinny had done her work for the day and was on her way out the door to go out for dinner with Frank. Then Kate stopped her.

Kate- Exstead come in here for a minute.
Jinny- Actually Cap, I was just on my wa--
Kate- Now!
Jinny- *Sighed* What is it?
Kate- Your witness called. She says she has new information.
Jinny- Captain, can I call her tomorrow? I really have to get going.
Kate- She wanted you to call her right away.
Jinny- But I have a date.
Kate- We are talking about a man who likes to kill old people and if our only witness wants to speak with you you have to do it. Are we clear?
Jinny- Aren't we always? *Leaves*

After she makes that very quick phonecall she leaves to go to the restaurant. When she got there, Frank wasn't there. She went back to her apartment and he was standing in front of her door. He was angry.

Frank- I thought you were going to meet me at the restaurant???
Jinny- Stop yelling. Come inside.
Frank- We had a date.
Jinny- I know. Captain had me do something and I had to do it. I didnt want to take the risk of being fired.
Frank- I smell a man on you.
Jinny- I work with lots of men.
Frank- You are cheating on me! *Slaps her across the face*

The next day, she went into work. Of course Magda noticed the mark right away.

Magda- Oh my God, Jinny. What the hell happened?
Jinny- I'm fine it's nothing.
Magda- Jinny I want the truth.
Jinny- That is the truth.
Magda- Look into my eyes and tell me that is the truth.

Jinny looked at her with tears in her eyes.

Magda- What really happened.
Jinny- We just got into a little fight. It's no big deal.
Magda- No big deal?? He hit you!

Kate- Magda what really happened?
Magda- She told me she got into a fight with her boyfriend.
Kate- He hit her? Oh my God is she okay.
Magda- Well she was fine enough to forgive him.
Kate- Don't tell me that. She forgave him? Did she at least go see a doctor? That is a pretty bad bruise.
Magda- Her? Go to a doctor? Good luck trying to do that.

Later on that night, Frank took her out for a romantic dinner. When she was done with her dinner, Jinny just ordered some desert. She ordered strawberry short cake and when she got it, there was a ring shoved into the strawberry.

Jinny- Oh my God.
Frank- Jinny, I know what I did to you last night and I would not blame you if you never wanted to see me again but you have to believe me when I tell you how sorry I am. Jinny Exstead *gets on his knees* Will you marry me?

Magda- Oh my God Jinny where did you get that ring?? *Grabs her hand* It's gorgeous! .. And expensive. *Whistles*
Jinny- Frank gave it to me last night.
Magda- What was it an apology ring? *sarcastic*
Jinny- Actually it is an engagement ring.

Frank- Well I have a wonderful idea. Why don't we elope right now before anyone can talk us out of it?
Jinny- I dont know. I really wanted my friends and family at my wedding.
Frank- Well you won't have one if they talk you out of it hon.
Jinny- I guess you're right. Let's go.

They left the restaurant and went to elope. The next day, Jinny came into work and Kate was not thrilled because she hadn't even called to say she wasn't coming back in.

Magda- Jinny, where were you?? We were supposed to go over paperwork and you didn't even call!
Jinny- I'm sorry Mag but I was busy.
Magda- With what? You were going to lunch. You must have eaten the whole restaurant.
Jinny- No, we went to city hall.
Magda- For what??
Jinny- We got married yesterday.
Magda- *Stayed silent*

Kate then walked out of her office.

Kate- Exstead where were you?? You didn't even call. You can't do that again do you hear me?

Kate- I found out something else about Frank. He also had many girlsfriends before he started marrying them. The last girlfriend he had was murdered.

Nurse- Hello is this Magda Ramirez?

Nurse- This is County General Hospital. A woman by the name of Jinny Exstead was brought in. We found an emergency contact card in her pocket and it said to call you.
Magda- Yes thank you. What happened? *Getting scared*
Nurse- Neighbors heard screaming from an apartment and called an ambulance and when they arrived she was beaten up and raped. She is still unconsious at the moment.
Magda- I will be right there. *Hangs up*

She ran into the Captains office crying.

Magda- Captain, I have to get to the hospital.
Kate- Oh my God not Ben.
Magda- No. It's Jinny. *runs out the door*

They get to the hospital. Magda is soo frightened about what her friend would now look like. She walked into the hospital room where a nurse was checking on her. Magda walked in and stared at her best friend and partner. She started crying. The Doctor came into the room. Kate saw her.

Kate- Doctor can I see you for a minute?
Doctor- Of course.

They went into the hallway while Magda pulled a chair next to her best friend.

Kate- What happened to her?
Doctor- Are you a relative?
Kate- I am her Captain.
Doctor- Well when the paramedics found her, she was bleeding. Someone had raped her, knocked her unconsious with a lamp, then cut her throat. She is lucky someone responded quickly and got her here before she bled to death.
Kate- Thank you Doctor.

She went back in and saw Magda talking to Jinny.

Magda- Jinny I am so sorry. I should have done more to talk you out of being with him. This is all my fault. When you ran out of the station, I should have followed you or something. I wasn't being much of a best friend.

Kate pulled up a chair next to Magda's and sat there staring at Jinny as well. They started to talk.

Kate- I should have seen this coming. How did I miss it?
Magda- We both did. It's not our fault. It's Franks and we will do what we have to do to put him behind bars.

They say there for about 2 hours. Just then she felt Jinny's hand moving. She looked up and slowly saw Jinny open her eyes.

Magda- Jinny?


Jinny tried to talk but couldn't. Magda continued to talk to Jinny while Kate went to get the doctor. After a few minutes, the doctor came in.

Doctor- Can you two please wait outside? We need to examine her.
Kate- Of course.

They went into the waiting room and Magda again started to cry. Kate tried her best to comfort her. Twenty minutes later, a nurse came out

Nurse- Exstead?

Kate- You go in. I have to make a few calls.
Magda- Ok.

Magda went in there while Kate called the station. About 30 minutes later, Kate was waiting in the waiting room and rushing thorugh the emergency room doors were CD, Nateand Raina.

CD- How is she?
Kate- Magda is in with her now. She doesn't look too good but the doctor is expecting a full recovery.
Nate- That's great!
Raina- I can't believe this happened.
Kate- Me either.

At that moment, someone came rushing through the doors that they definately weren't expecting.

Magda- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!?!?!
Frank- Same thing I will do to you..

He stuck the knife in her head. She fell to the floor bleeding out.

Kate- MAGDA!!
Frank- You too young lady..

Stuck the knife in her heart as well.

CD- At least we will die together.
Nate- I love you.
CD- I love you too.
Frank- Oh cut the Shakespeare.

He stabbed them both in the chest.

Raina- You..you big..meanie!!!
Frank- I know. I deserve an academy award!!

Stabs her...

Teddy- You will not get away with this.
Frank- I think I already have..

Stabs him..but he is still alive.

Teddy- Why would Jinny marry a freak like you??
Frank- I could ask you the same question if she married you..

Stabd him again in the head..he is still alive.

Teddy- You won't get away.
Frank- WHY WON'T YOU DIE!!!

He stabs him in the nuts and he dies. He leaves the hospital and meets a girl on the way.

When Teddy found her room, he waited in the doorway being sure not to disrupt Magda and Jinny. Jinny was able to fall asleep easily because she knew Magda was there. Magda suddenly saw a shadow and was afraid it was Frank. When Magda turned around, she saw Teddy. She got up up walked over to him and hugged him with tears in her eyes.

Magda- Teddy. *hugged him* How did you know what happened?
Teddy- It was going around at the station. I couldn't keep away. I had to be here.
Magda- Do you want to stay with her?
Teddy- Are you sure?
Magda- I need some more coffee anyway.

Magda left the room and Teddy sat where she was sitting and just held her hand. He knew she was asleep but he wanted to talk to her anyway.

Teddy- I'm sorry this happened to you. To be honest, I was thinking about calling you everyday. I fell like I could have saved you from this. I'm sorry.

Meanwhile in the waiting room, everyone was getting ready to go home. It was 12:00AM.

Kate- *Yawns* Well I got to get home. I have to be at work in the morning.
Raina- Yeah me too.
CD- Nate and I will stop by on our way to work in the morning.
Magda- I will call my mom to watch Ben. I want to stay here.

CD and Nate were on their way home. CD had fallen asleep on the way. When the pulled up to CD's apartment building, Nate just stared at her. She looked so peaceful. He got out of the car and carried her in her apartment. He took out a key CD had given him in case of emergencies. He gently placed her on the couch. She felt herself on the couch and woke up. When she saw Nate standing over her, she felt so safe.

Nate- You fell asleep in the car so I drove you home.
CD- Thanks. It's late. Why don't you spend the night.
Nate- What about my clothes? I can't show up wearing the same thing.
CD- We will get up early and you can stop by your place and change.
Nate- Well if you insist.

Jinny figured it was Teddy and being the gentleman he is, he would knock on the door. She went to the door, unlocked it, and let him in. Frank pushed himslef through the door.

Frank- Isn't a husband allowed to see his wife?

Jinny- And you know how I get too..*Kicks him in the family jewls*
Frank- HOLY S***!!! OW!!

Jinny tried to escape but he grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back.

Frank- You b****! You are gonna get it now!!

Frank threw her to the ground and started kicking her. This lasted for a few minutes. She was screaming in pain. As soon as Teddy came out of the apartment, he called Kate. Magda, CD, Nate, Raina, and Kate showed up 15 minutes later.

Kate- Is he still in there?
Teddy- You can hear her screaming from here. I am soo scared. She told me to leave. I didn't want to. He said he would kill her if I didnt leave.
Magda- It's ok. You did the right thing.
Teddy- Then how come I feel I have let her down. *Cries*
Kate- I am going to call her apartment and see if he will talk to me.

Kate dialed the number and let it ring a number of times. Frank got frustrated by all of the rings he finally picked it up.

Frank- What!?
Kate- Frank, this is Captain McCafferty at the San Francisco Police Department. Is Jinny all right in there?
Frank- Why do you care?
Kate- Because she is one of my inspectors and I care about her very much. Listen, maybe we can work out a deal. What do you want? I will give it to you, if it is reasonable, and you give me Jinny.
Frank- Well see that aint gonna work. See, I want Jinny. She is my wife and she will die as my wife. *Hung up*

Frank- So your sneaky boyfriend called the cops on me eh? Well this will make it easier. Now that I know I am going to jail anyway, I might as well kill you now.
Jinny- Please Frank. Don't kill me please?
Frank- You wouldn't listen. You disobeyed me. I have no other choice.

With that said, he pulled out a gun and shot Jinny in the head. She lied helpless on the floor. She was bleeding all over the floor. Kate heard the gunshot. Teddy paniced and Magda as well. Just then, Frank came through the door of the apartment building with his hands in the air grinning. CD and Nate ran up to him and placed him under arrest. As they were putting him in the car, he looked over at Teddy.

Frank- I got what I wanted. When we were married, she became my wife. Now she will die as my wife.

Hearing that, Magda and Teddy were the first ones to run to Jinny apartment. When they came in, Jinny was laying on the floor. Teddy ran to her and placed her head in his lap.

Teddy- NO!! Jinny please!! Don't leave me! I need you!!
Magda- *Checked her pulse* She has a slight pulse. I will call an ambulance. *Left the room*

Jinny woke up and found herself in Teddy's lap.

Jinny- Teddy..
Teddy- It's ok honey, we are getting you an ambulance.
Jinny- I'm sorry..
Teddy- What for??
Jinny- I shouldn't have married him. I should have married you. Teddy, I love you.
Teddy- I love you too. Don't give up. Everything is going to be alright.
Jinny- Teddy.. tell everyone I love them. *Passed out*
Magda- The ambulance is here.

Paramedics came and put her on a stretche and rushed her to the hospital. They had called her family. In the waiting room was John Sr., Casey, John Jr., Teddy, Magda, Raina, CD, Nate, and Kate. None of them spoke a word. They mainly sat there and cried. Finally a nurse came out.

Nurse- Relatives here for Exstead..

They all stood up.

Nurse- I need one person. Who is the closest relative.
John Sr.- I am her father.
Nurse- Come with me please. The doctor wants to speak with you.
John Sr.- Ok. *Left*
Magda- If it was good news wouldn't they have just said it out here to all of us??
Kate- Not necessarily. Everything will be ok. Don't worry.

Teddy sat there motionless. All he could do with think over and over about what happened at Jinny's. He felt guilty about leaving her in there. How could he do something soo stupid. The nurse led him to ICU where Jinny was.

Doctor- Hi. Are you of relation to Ms. Exstead?
John- I am her father.
Doctor- Ok. Well we got the bullet out.
John- Thank god.
Doctor- But I am afraid that didn't stop the damage.
John- What do you mean?
Doctor- I am so sorry Mr. Exstead. Jinny is braindead.
John- No..
Doctor- I am very sorry. We went as fast as we could to get her into surgery to get the bullet out. It was to late. We need you to consider removing Jinny from life support.
John- I ... I..um..
Doctor- Everyone could come and see her first of course. To say good-bye.
John- *Crying* Thank you. *Left*

John came out to the waiting room. Everyone stood up when they saw him crying.

CD- Mr. Exstead? What is it!?
John- Jinny is braindead.
Magda- Oh my God!!
Teddy- NO!
Casey- This isn't happening. She is my sister. This can't be happening!! *Sits down and cries*
John Sr.- They want me..to take her off life support. *Cried harder*
Raina- Oh my God. *cries*

Kate and John Jr. just stood there. They couldn't speak.

CD- *Crying* Can we see her?
John- Yes. Follow me.

Magda went to the restroom and just cried her heart out. CD, who was also crying, followed her.

CD- Magda..
Magda- Please leave me alone. My best friend and partner is braindead! Oh God! I didn't even get a chance.
CD- None of us did. I know how close she was to you but we all love her. Come on. We are allowed to go and see her.
Magda- I can't look at her on her deathbed. I just can't do it.
CD- Would you rather not see her at all? She can probably hear you. In her heart. She knows how much you loved her. She knew how much we all loved her. Come on. I will walk with you.

They walked into the ICU room and saw eveyone was all ready there. Except Teddy.

CD- Theodore, what are you doing out here?
Teddy- I wanted to see her alone. I will wait.
CD- Ok.

They went in. Everyone was surrounding the bed and looking at Jinny. She had all these bruises and there was a lot of blood.

Kate- How about 2 in here at a time.
CD- That's a good idea. Who wants to go first?
Casey- Please? I do.
John Jr.- And Iwill go with him.
CD- Ok. We will be outside. *They left*
Casey- Oh God Jinny. *Cries*
John- *Put his hand on her shoulder*

After 10 minutes, they came out of the room. They were both crying. Next it was CD and Nate.

Nate- Jinny, I didn't know you very long, but you will be missed. From what I saw, you are one amazing woman. *Kissed her forehead*
CD- The Division won't be the same without you Jin. We willa ll miss you very much.

They left and Kate and Raina went in.

Kate- Oh Jinny. I feel so ashamed. I know I wasn't very nice to you must believe that I love you very much. I care about you a lot. You were one of a kind Exstead. *Cries*

Kate and Raina left. John Sr. went in by himself.

John Sr.- Oh Jinnygirl. I can't believe this. You are my precious little girl. I taught you how to tie your shoes. I was there when you came home from your first day of pre-school. I remember how happy you were when you called me up and told me you made Inspector. I was soo proud of you. And still am. I love you. *Kissed her*

He left and Magda went in.

Magda- Oh God Jinny. I didn't want to come in here. CD said you can probably hear me. I don't know if you can or not. I wish you could give me some sign that you can. You are my best friend and I love you very much. I am so sorry for what has happened. I will make sure that son of a bitch is put behind bars. Either that or the needle. I swear. *Hugged her* Good bye partner.

She left crying so hard you couldn't understand her. Then last but not least, it was Teddy's turn.

Teddy- Jinny, I am the most sorry of us all. I should not have let you go in that house alone. I hope one day you can fogive me. Although I will never forgive myself. *Cries* I hate crying in front of you. You used to make fun of that along with everything else I did. *Tried to laugh but couldn't* I guess I should go now. *Kissed her* I love you Jinny Louise Exstead. I always will. Forver more.

They were all reunited in the hallway outside of Jinny's doorway. The Doctor came up to them.

Doctor- Are you ready?

They all nodded.

Doctor- Mr Exstead I need you to sign these forms.
John- *Paused at first but signed them*

The nurses went into her room and turned off all the machines. Teddy sat on the side of her bed and held her hand. Magda sat on the other and held her other hand. The rest of them just stared at her. Teddy looked up at the heart monitor. It was at 36...27...14..8..4..0. Then a beep came. Everyone knew what that meant. Jinny Exstead was gone.

Part 2 of The End

Everyone knew what that meant. Jinny Exstead was gone. Everyone started to cry. They couldn't believe that Jinny, one of the best inspectors on the force, was gone.

The next day, Captain went into work. She was upset about Jinny but she thought work would keep her mind off of it. That didn't work. As she walked through the Division, she looked over at Jinny's desk. It looked so lonely. Then she looked at her name plate. Tears started to appear in her eyes so she ran into her office before someone could see her.

Magda got up that morning contemplating on whether or not she should go to work. She hadn't slept all night. All she could think about what Jinny, laying there. So helpless. But she knew that if she stayed home, she would do nothing but think about Jinny. So she went to work. So did everyone else.

Looking out from her office, Kate saw Magda walk in. She was definately not expecting Magda to show up today. She went out to talk to her.

Kate- Magda what are you doing here? You should be home.
Magda- If I stay home I will keep thinking about it and I can't.

She then looked over at Jinny's desk as well and she started crying. All the other cops had a feeling she was crying because Jinny was in the hospital. They had no idea she had died.

Kate- I guess I should make the announcement.
Magda- Some announcement.
Kate- *Went to the middle of the room* Excuse me everyone. May I have your attention please. I am very sorry to report that Inspector Jinny Exstead, died last night. They had to remove her from life support. *Starts to cry* I'm sorry. We will all miss her terribly.

Kate went back into her office while just about every officer in the Division stood still and silent. They were all ready to cry. Magda grabbed her coat and ran out. She needed some time to herself. She went to the Golden Gate bridge. She just stood there and stared out to the water. She was there for about 2 1/2 hours. She went back to the station and looked over at Jinny's desk. She was surprised. There were flowers surrounding her desk. She had never seen so many flowers. They all loved her dearly.

A few days later, the funeral came up. Everyone was there. Even Haysbert showed up. He didn't shed any tears but you can tell he was upset. There were soo many cops there in the church. Then it was time for the funeral to start.

Priest- Friends, family, we are gathered here today to say good bye to our fellow officer and friend, Jinny Exstead.

After the priest finished all of the necessary things, he stood up.

Priest- And now, a number of Jinny's family and friends wish to say something.

John Jr. went up to the alter. He bowed and went to the podium. He unfolded a piece of paper and started.

John- My sister was the best person I knew. We didn't get along all the time but, even though it may not have seemed that way, I loved her very much. She was everything to me. I love her. Good bye little sis.

Casey and John Sr. couldn't go up. They sat there and couldn't stop crying. Kate went up.

Kate- Inspector Jinny Exstead was a great cop. She made mistakes. We all do. She had a special way of making everyone smile when she entered a room. She always had a smart allec thing to say but that's what made Jinny, Jinny. None of us knows why these things happen. People say it is for the best but I am trying to figure that out. *Tears develop* Bye Jin. Thank you.

Kate sat down and started crying. She just realized how much her life was really going to change. CD went up.

CD- Jinny was one of my best friends. She was moody and had a mouth but she was the nicest, sweetest person I knew. She was tough and she knew how to make people laugh. We will all miss her.

CD sat down and Magda went up.

Magda- Jinny was my partner and best friend. She helped me when I needed it and I helped her when she needed it. We were always there for each other. I loved her very much. She didn't take any crap from anyone and she was always there for her friends and co workers. I have no idea how my life will go without her. She was everything to me. *Cries* Thank you.

She sat down and finally, Teddy got up.

Teddy- I worked with Jinny as well. We worked on many cases together. Thats how I fell in love with her but I never really told her. I feel so guilty about what happened to her. I feel I could have saved her from this. I will always love her. Good bye my love.

Priest- We will now proceed to St. Francis Cemetary.

The day after the funeral, everyone was like a soldier. They barely moved. Teddy was helping Magda on a case. That day went by somewhat fast but not fast enough. Before they went home Kate walked out into the bullpen.

Kate- Everyone please gather round. I was asked to read this letter.
CD- Who is it from?
Kate- Jinny.
Magda- What!?
Kate- I am confused myself. This is what it says:

Dear Friends,
I was very happy to hear all the wonderful things you said at my fineral yesterday. I know you all cared about me very much. I just have a few things to say. CD, thank you for your kind words. I love you very much and I will keep your eyes on you. Especially when you are with that partner of yours. Raina, I didn't know you well but I know you will become one fabulous Inspector someday. Keep trying. You will get there. Don't give up. Kate, you may have gotten on my nerves, most..well all the time but believe me. You were like a surrogate mother to me. I love you. Magda, this is your sign. I did hear you when you were talking to me. I can still hear you. Don't be afraid to talk to me. I will listen. And Teddy, don't feel the least bit guilty. I am in no more pain. Now I can always be with you. I will watch over you and protect you and one day, we will meet again. I love you too. All of you. I will keep all of you in my heart forever. Tell my family I love them. Good bye everyone.

Everyone smiled. They felt better now that they knew what Jinny felt. She did indeed love them. They got up and cried and hugged each other. CD looked at Nate and smiled.

CD- She knew the whole time.
Nate- She sure did.
CD- She probably knows this as well.

CD- *whispers* Im pregnant.

In the backround was a woman wearing a white silky dress with her arms folded smiling. She then turned around and faded away.

That was great Kelly! I really seriously cried. But I think that it was about the whole letter thing, because in REAL LIFE that happened to me with my grandmother....and then the song....that I cried for too. I really remember that day my grandmother died. I was like casey and john sr. I couldn't stop crying, and noone ever knew.

That was a great ending!
