FamilyTiesGOP 03-04-2004, 09:48 AM Cosby has got enough money...Why does't he start the Cosby Show Network (CSN). Why in the hell is the Cosby Show going to TV Land? Is it also on N@N? Just what is TV Land thinking???
And what is up with the mini-marathons??

WHY on Earth is TCS going to be on TV Land? It's already on enough channels and airs multiple times on N@N! It's not as old as Family Ties. It does NOT deserve to be on TV Land. To think TCS will be replacing FT, is insulting to say the least! I know it's not just TCS replacing FT, but still! How awful! I already hated TCS, but now even more so!
I agree. When TCS first came on TBS, it was pretty good. But I think everyone has had enough of the TCS to make a dog throw up.:barf:

It's only for two weeks, part of the TV Land Awards promotion. The regular schedule will return March 18 and run through the end of the month.

Including me!!!
I used to watch the show, but the show got old quickly because it was on so many channels.

That is true, but still I don't understand why the Cosby Show is the show of choice to promote the TV Land Awards. They didn't do this mess last year. Well, as long as Family Ties comes back I guess I am ok, but I am still rather angry about it.

I also am still pretty upset about it. With FT being on for such a short period of time, it doesn't seem right to eliminate two weeks of FT. I think that they are just using the TV Land Awards as an excuse to air TCS even more often.
Exactly, and what if they take FT off in April (as is possible). It will be impossible to get through even one complete rotation of seasons.:(
Moonlit_Suburb 03-25-2004, 11:22 PM I think I speak for everyone here when I say; Let's get Family Ties on DVD! I'm sure it will happen sooner or later, but sooner would be nice. :D
musicradio77 03-25-2004, 11:27 PM I still love that show. "Family Ties" is the place to be. If the show ends on TV Land next month, I am going to be sad. :(
Pav, how does Family Ties do in the ratings on TV Land? I heard it wasn't doing well.
I think there are two problems causing viewership to not be very high: 1.) lack of promotion - people don't know they can watch Family Ties on TV Land; they just figure it's in syndication limbo somewhere and 2.) somehow, the show hasn't aged well. I can't quite pinpoint why.
I still love the show, though.

Well, TV Land aired it like four times per day in January, and had a marathon in December, which promoted the January times. The show never did well, but I think it does OK for them at 11 p.m., which is why it is still on then.
The show did bad in the ratings on TBS and Nick@Nite as well. I guess syndication wasn't a good thing for Family Ties, sadly.

I really don't understand why it doesn't do any better. I think it is the best family show ever made. However, I think it is more dated than the Cosby Show. But I have always liked that about it. I love the 80s and I like going there with Family Ties. I guess others just don't. I'm surprised with Michael's successes that the show isn't more popular. Meredith Baxter, Michael Gross also appear on teleivision in other roles. Meredith does a lot of made for tv movies and Michael Gross has been on ER and Law and Order. I simply just do not understand. I mean the writing is just so much better than your average show.

I guess we shouldn't hold our breath for a DVD release, huh?:(
Why did N@N pick it up if it did bad on TBS. Of course TBS had it on VERY early in the morning. Maybe N@N thought prime time would make it do better.

Pav,
How can you say that? That's kind of harsh, and mean. Family Ties does deserve to be in syndication, and I'm sorry if you think it didn't do well on TBS and other channels, but for those of us that like Family Ties, we don't want to hear it bad mouthed esp. on the FT board. If you think it shouldn't have been put into syndication fine, but please don't share that with us. That would be like someone saying the exact same thing about a show you really like. I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to say that your favorite show doesn't deserve to be in syndication. I can easily say that TCS SURELY doesn't deserve to be in syndication. Doesn't sound very nice does it?
"I" am not saying that, they ARE facts. I like Family Ties, but it never did well in syndication. I never said it shouldn't be in syndication. Re-read my post.
Moonlit_Suburb 04-02-2004, 12:29 AM FamilyTiesGOP: The ratings might not be very good on TV, but they are very high on DVD.
