Scares me!! Brent88 03-01-2004, 12:55 PM Yeah... the older episodes have that spooky music(with the purple bars). I like it actually. Many episodes I just play the beginning of the episode sometimes because I like the music so much. crystaldawn 03-01-2004, 02:26 PM I agree the music does enhance watching Unsolved Mysteries. Also I've noticed the lighting in some of the stories does help set the mood of the particular story. The Gayle Delano story, one of the most interesting ones in my opinion, where she was found to have staged her own disappearance and then committed suicide, the lighting is dark and depressing kind of like her mood according to her diary. Then the Aileen Conway story where she was mysteriously found burned in her car in a remote location and her house looked as if she had left abruptly. The lighting was dark and eerie on that story. Then they showed the house looking deserted and the wind was blowing the patio door curtains I thought was really eerie. The episodes are good but the ghost or haunted house ones creep me out the most!! SitcomsAreTheWay 03-01-2004, 10:07 PM Originally posted by 3scompanyfreak ....crap out of me!! Scares me!! That's because Robert's voice was distinct and it went well with the music. Without his voice, I don't think it (the music or the show as a whole) would be as scary to me. Do you know which story frightens me most of all combined with Robert's voice and the music? The story about the middle-aged woman who was found tied to a tree while dead. I'm getting the creeps as I'm sitting here thinking about it. UMfan77 03-01-2004, 10:37 PM Oh yea...that one really creeps me out too. It really makes me wonder what kind of sickos exist in this world, to do that to an innocent human being. Brent88 03-01-2004, 11:15 PM Originally posted by SitcomsAreTheWay That's because Robert's voice was distinct and it went well with the music. That one was just on in the last month or so(when it was on at 6pm). That one was FREAKY! Tuesday Weld 03-01-2004, 11:27 PM Originally posted by 3scompanyfreak ....crap out of me!! It was as if her killer placed her like that to say, "Hey, look at what I've done to her." The monster just put her on display as if she were some kind of exhibit. Hey, I even watch it in the dark, which makes it scarier. In fact, I always look forward to watching UM to hear him. Robert's voice may be creepy but without him and his voice, the show wouldn't be effective. By the way, in Robert's autobiography, he mentioned that there was something that creeped him out when was 6-years-old. It's at the link below and it's interesting how that came from the same man who spooks us with his voice on UM. http://web.res-alian.com:8008/mayclaire/stack_anecdotes.html -Makoto_4 gaf 03-02-2004, 11:26 AM When I first saw the movie Airplane! several years ago, I didn't know that Robert Stack was in it. I was laughing along with the movie until I heard his voice and instantly got creeped out. He did a good job and was funny once I started to get over the initial creeped-out stage, but still. About the woman who was tied to a tree. I haven't seen that in years, but lately I've been thinking about it every so often. If I remember correctly, she got several obscene letters in the mail. Is this the same case? Was it ever solved? Frischman_Fan 03-02-2004, 05:27 PM He was also in that "Twilight Zone" episode where the plane was flown into the prehistoric era with the dinosaurs. Robert was one of the pilots!! Mr. Roboto 03-02-2004, 07:06 PM Originally posted by SitcomsAreTheWay That's because Robert's voice was distinct and it went well with the music. The story about the middle-aged woman who was found tied to a tree while dead. I'm getting the creeps as I'm sitting here thinking about it. Yeah, that was a scary case. I remember there was an update the last time I saw it, but it was "we will bring you information on a future broadcast" updates. BTW, does anybody know what was written on one of the notes the killer left? I know UM had to blur out one word, which I never could figure out. KingOfQueensGurl 03-04-2004, 05:29 PM Dang that was some scary music, but it was good for the show.:D Dr. Jazz 03-04-2004, 07:05 PM Originally posted by SitcomsAreTheWay Do you know which story frightens me most of all combined with Robert's voice and the music? Here's something CREEPY to add to this post - My mother's aunt & her family actually lived about a mile down the road from that lady at the time of her murder. It's somewhere around Orangeburg, VA. They actually knew that lady and had seen her just a couple days before she was murdered. She was tied to a tree out in the woods behind her house and my mother's aunt had a similar-looking woody area out behind her house. It creeped them out so much that they moved to another part of the state about 10 months later. I know I wouldn't have been able to stay there another night had that happened right up the road from where I lived. Is that creepy or what? UMfan77 03-04-2004, 08:28 PM Yea, that is really creepy, to actually know someone that lived right by the woman. I would've moved too, especially if the murderer is still out on the loose. It most certainly is creepy, I know for a fact that I would've moved out of the area. I think I'm going to sleep with the light on tonight. SitcomsAreTheWay 03-04-2004, 11:36 PM Oh, what about the case where a guy named Joe killed a woman and her two daughters with an ax, then jumped out at his friend in the dark and tried to kill him also? That case also gives me the creeps. dynoguy88 03-07-2004, 05:05 PM Originally posted by Dr. Jazz Here's something CREEPY to add to this post - My mother's aunt & her family actually lived about a mile down the road from that lady at the time of her murder. I know I wouldn't have been able to stay there another night had that happened right up the road from where I lived. Is that creepy or what? That is pretty understandable. Can you imagine every time you looked out into your backyard and see the woods, you would be reminded about how that Ethel Kidd lady was murdered. It would be even worse to look at those woods at night. I would have moved away as well. I don't think Ethel was actually murdered in the woods, if I remember the story correctly. The area of the woods where her body was found had been searched just a day or two before and I think the police speculated that her body had been kept in a freezer during that time. I believe she was raped inside her house and then was killed either inside her house afterwards or was taken away with the guy in his car against her will. Then, after a couple days of the police searching the woods, brought her body into the woods, tied her to the tree as a message to the police saying "Catch me if you can," and then went into hiding. I still can't believe that this case was actually solved. It took several years, but they got him thanks in part to him leaving his road map and a couple papers in her front yard. The fact that Ethal lived out in the country and had hardly no neighbors nearby made this crime easier to take place. She probably could have screamed for hours and nobody would have heard her. bobbyd514 03-16-2004, 10:31 PM This whole show creeps me out and gives me nightmares. Composite Sketch 03-23-2004, 03:23 AM The Ethel Kidd case was shown again here on Friday night. I don't believe she was assaulted in her house otherwise there would have been some evidence of a struggle, and there wasn't. No, I think she was taken away in the car from the front yard, and she put up a fight, hence the road atlas being left behind (and yes, thank God it was, otherwise that creepy guy would not have been caught). The Beverly McGowan case was also shown on Friday, and in THAT case Robert's voice was very creepy when he described what her killer did to hide her identity. The music didn't help either. As a side note, I remember debating with another poster here as to whether Elaine Parent acted alone and if she was the 'man in drag' booking a rental car after the murder. I thought that she was back then, but seeing the case again, I'm not so sure. It seems unlikely that Parent could have done all that to Bev all by herself. As a side note, for those that saw the McGowan case when it first aired, was the sketch of Alice (seen in the 2002 update) shown at the end of it? Was there one shown of the... person in the Cleopatra wig? THAT would be pretty scary if there was. Bluejay 04-17-2004, 02:44 AM I've never been unnerved by the sound of Robert Stack's voice, probably because I've heard it all my life. Used to stay up late with Mom and watch The Untouchables. As a matter of fact I find his voice rather comforting. Elliot Ness is on the case! God, I miss him. The music doesn't particularly upset me, either, even late at night. What really haunts me are some of the cases. The Korzilius murder. The case of the poisoned cough syrup. The schoolbus children. The elderly black man who wandered away in search of his wife ... Jeff003 04-22-2004, 01:08 PM I love that creepy music I think it enhances the show. The music on the later season seem to change a little from the earlier seasons but it seems like it got even creepier and scarier in the later seasons.I plan to get the scariest ghost stories unsolved dvd Oct 5th.The music will be appropiate for Halloween.I also like Robert Stacks voice.I don't think it would sound right with someone else narrating although I do think they need to bring the show back in first run episodes. |
